I have watched a TON of “beginner bead/ acrylic to liquid ratio/ bead consistency videos on YT and hand to God this is the most informative and helpful video yet! Can’t thank you enough!
Thank u so much for explaining that properly!! I've watched so many videos but none have explained it the way you did and it actually works!! Will be watching many more of your videos ❤
I can't thank you enough for this!!! I did my first acrylic set today and I got better gradually with each nail. The issue is my beads where too dry because I was afraid of it running so I didn't have time to move them and the nails got huge 😂
Hi Darling, I really appreciate you for this Video, This Tutorial will help a lot of people.. Thank You for sharing.. I will share this video so many people can get the Powder to ratio pat down.. I did screenshot how to hold your Brush when you picking up a Bead.. Thank You so much.
My goodness u got right to the point nice video, ur very thorough in explaining how the acrylic reacts. Knowing this helps me to know what i'm looking for. Keep up the great videos thanks in advance
Hi Christina. Nails should never hurt. Whilst doing them, or after! If it is tightness OR heat you are experiencing, you are probably working too wet. If you are using tips, it can mean the tips you have used are too small. They are trying to bounce back to their original shape (after being flattened down too much to fit the nail) as is pushing against the acrylic. If it's the skin of the finger that is hurting, you could be touching the skin with your brush and monomer. In this case, be VERY wary, if the skin is hurting now, an allergy has likely already developed.
Hi@@nailnovice8781, thanx again I used a form to sculpt this nail... So, I have never used acrylic on my natural nails. I've always use gel and never experienced this problem. I only did 1 nail on myself just to experiment. So it could have been that my liquid to powder consistency was too wet or maybe an allergy. I am going to use your video to help me with the consistency and sculpt another 1 on my finger to try and figure out why the soreness on my nail.
@@christinaclerk4172 I see. I would say your ratio is too wet then. You won't have experienced it with gel before because gel is a pre-mixed perfect ratio. Best of luck :)
Thank you so much for this video much help I also have a question does the acrylic react differently towards temperatures I’m a beginner nail tech and I can’t really practice inside my house due to the smell my fam don’t like so i do it outside does that affect anything at all cuz I have noticed my acrylic dries A little faster before I get to even finish the application but at the same time idk if it’s just the way I’m applying the beed or not plz help 🥺
Hi Veronica! Yes! Temperature plays a big part. Unfortunately, if you're working on your ratio, practicing outside won't help you too much. When in a salon situation would you ever do nails outside!? In colder months, climates, countries, acrylic will set a lot slower and some techs will even opt for a fast set acrylic during these months. And in Summer, you'll find you need to work wetter or change to a slow set in order to keep up with it! At the beginning of any session or even service, do a couple test beads to check your ratio for that days temperature. You'll soon get a feel for how you need to work that session. Its a tricky thing to master I know! and yes the smell gets all through the house when you practice at home :s
This also depends on the monomer, 2 monomers I have you don’t need a lot of liquid at all but the other 2 I need a lot of liquid so the bead doesn’t dry out! Weird
That's something I can't answer as it depends on the temperature in your part of the world, and temperature in your salon. Keep track of when you ordered last and when you next need to and it should help you work that out :)
I’ve surcare everywhere and I can’t find anything so hopefully you know so I have Mia’s secret monomer and powder and when I use it it won’t cure all the way it’s like jelly and peels off what do I doo please help 😭
Never heard of that. Regardless of good/bad ratio, acrylic should always set hard. If your acrylic is not fully curing, please be very careful with how you are handling the uncured product. Do not touch the 'jelly' with your bare skin. It could lead to over exposure and create dermatitis. I would suggest getting some professional training, using professional, salon quality product. Your training provider will be able to help with any trouble shooting.
I'm having troubles with taking off too much monomer, wiping it off in the side of the dapen dish too hard, too much. So this is why I'm having troubles with right ratio
I’m a firm believer that just because you know how to do something, doesn’t mean you can teach others! I have watched so many “how to” videos on this subject, but you are the first to explain it technically and completely. Thank you! 🙏
The BEST lesson on acrylic I've seen here on You Tube & I follow a lot of very talented tecs here. Thanks to you & all the others who make this such a great place to learn.
Agreed! Everyone teaches this, but leaves so many of my subsequent questions unanswered. This took care of a lot of my ‘why’s and ‘what if’s. Thank you so much! Bookmarked for easy access.
NN, After watching this video, I sat down today and actually built a decent-looking nail, apex and all, because I was much more careful with my bead--I used the techniques for the size I wanted, I knew better what I was looking for in its composition, I was able to release it nicely, I was in control of it while I worked--and my result today is already many times better even than yesterday, and I've been working at this for several months. You made all the difference--I have the confidence to continue now, not dump all my stuff in the garbage. Miraculous. :) Thank you so much! XO
I never really comment but this video was very helpful, thank you so much!. I just recently tried it out for the first time, since i usually work with gel. I think the biggest problem is that i waste way too much liquid because im afraid the acrylic gets stuck in my brush. Any tips for that? And also when i do white for example, i ruin my monomer way too fast since i tip my brush in more often due being afraid of acrylic in the brush :(
Thanks so much for commenting :) I think every beginner goes through more monomer than necessary when getting into the swing of things. Some really experienced techs use only a lint free wipe as their brush wipe. (I'm not there yet, lol). Acrylic shouldn't be getting into your brush if your ratio is correct and you are gently wiping after placing the bead and then again before re-entering the liquid. But again, perfect ratio takes a LOT of time. With white, you need to work slightly drier than any other colour as it is SO pigmented. White easily gets stuck in the bristles when working with it wet or normal ratio. Be sure to change your monomer as soon as it becomes cloudy from your white as contaminated monomer will effect the adhesion of your pink :)
As soon as I finished watching the video, I got up to try this. I always thought I had to grab my bead (at no particular angle) and immediately apply it to the nail. No wonder my first tries have been so difficult and the finished product was all over the place. Thank you!
@@nailnovice8781 honestly, this was game changing. The difference is day and night and I now know that my monomer is too slow to react to my acrylic powders and that all of my brushes are too small. I never thought there was a science to nail artistry but there really is. I watched many videos after this one but this one was by far the most helpful.
I did the C3 Nail Tech course about 3 yrs ago, just so I could do my own nails. I passed but I was never ever confident. I have watched about 67 million videos on acrylic beads, ratios, placements etc and this is the first video where it is explained in so much detail that I actually understand it. Ive gone.... "ohhhh, okay, so thats what Im doing and thats why its not working and thats why Im not confident...ahhhh.... ". so thank you THANK YOU
I have been watching plenty liquid to ratio videos and I must admit this one is by far thee best!! I loveeee how you break it down in angle and showed again in detail how you wiped the monomer off and stuff. Sweet!! Thanks a million
Okay so I have a problem with my first bead going onto the nail, it always gets yellow but after that all the other beads are clear? Am I doing anything wrong?
Hi Amy, unless you are doing acrylics regularly or everyday, monomer that is left in your brush bristles... will yellow. You need to wipe this away thoroughly before each new days appointment. You may even need to sacrifice a tiny amount of liquid to clean your brush, before re filling your dish to continue with application :)
so helpful. long story short i have been doing pretty much all of it wrong! haha. especially waiting for the glossy bit. i never did that. my brush is always covered in acrylic
Yep, wrong ratio if covered in acrylic! either too wet and sticking to the bristles, not releasing properly or too dry and you're getting powder all through your brush which of course will react when the brush gets wet again.
Hi, great instructional video but I wanted to ask can u make a video about the best acrylic brushes to purchase being a non professional such as myself? It would be greatly appreciated. Tfs👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you ever so very much for making this video. I have been searching everywhere including using the terms beginner and for dummies...lol I am so thankful I found your channel 🥰

this was soooo incredibly detailed and full of details i've never heard in a liquid to powder ratio video!! i think my beads are slightllyyyy too wet. They're not extremely runny but they definitely don't keep their shape easily. This is going to help so much :))) Thanks so much!!
I'm curious, why do you have to wait until stage 3 before you apply the bead to the nail? Also, what happens if you apply the bead right away or if you have powder fall off onto the nail? I see videos all the time where they're doing that so just curious

I’ve been struggling for about two to three weeks on my beads it’s either way too wet or too dry thank you!!
Wow this was a fantastic video that not only explained but demonstrated how to achieve the perfect bead. I liked how you really showed what to look for and what to watch out for when creating the bead. I’m starting to do my own French manicure acrylic nails at home. I will be checking out your other videos as well. Thank you!

This is so wrong in so many levels. This should be titled how not to do monomer and acrylic. You do not drag the brush in the powder, just tap it…and you do not wipe the whole brush for a big bead.
Great explanation how do I need to clean the brush after use ? I want to learn it for doing my own nails , because I am not using untill next time can I put the liquid back again in the bottle of monomer
I cant wait until i get this good my problem comes when puttin the acrylic on the nail it looks shitty!! Howd you get that bead to look like a bead the whole time!!
I had my first practical lesson in nail technology (acrylic, fibreglass and gel nails) today and got so frustrated as I struggled to get the perfect bead. After watching this video I feel like I’ve learnt so much and am ready to practice again. Thank you so much. I wish I could like this video again and again! 🥰
Thank you so much. I couldn’t figure it out and watched 4 different videos and literally halfway through your video I got it every time. You’re a great teacher

perfect video

Can you do one on acrylic gel and polygel
What are you placing those beads on to practice?
A plastic document slip :) you can bend the plastic and the practice beads pop straight off!
Which side of the brush did you dip into the powder? Same side you wiped off?
Wipe off one side, pick up powder from the other.
This was great explaining 😩
Where can I get that paper from???
This also depends on the monomer, 2 monomers I have you don’t need a lot of liquid at all but the other 2 I need a lot of liquid so the bead doesn’t dry out! Weird
Yes slow set / fast set will effect your ratio also
Can u add link for practice sheet

My bead won’t stick to my brush dose anybody know why that might be

How much monomer is taken out in dappen dish each time? Want to figure out how many manis can be done per oz of monomer

I hope things have gone well for you and your acrylic work the last month! x
First slowed down course I have seen on RUclips. I really saw alot and I am ready to try at it again.
This. Absolutely the BEST VID to help me understand getting a perfect bead!!! THANK YOU!!
You are so welcome!
DONT DRAGGGGG u need to tap 3 times in the acrylic powder
Was I the only one who learned to never drag your brush bc the acrylic will get stuck in the brush
Thank God for this video. My next set should be much better
this is the best tutorial. as soon as I watched, my beads went from too wet to perfectly balanced. TY!!
Thats fantastic to hear!
Thank you so much. I couldn’t figure it out and watched 4 different videos and literally halfway through your video I got it every time. You’re a great teacher
