What a nice TM! Glad to see you back Ben and looking swell! I’m so proud of you modifying your new tool- So many people live with whatever the factory produces. I had a sigh of relief when you removed that ridiculous wrist strap! Remember in the 70’s everything had a stupid wrist strap from transistor radios to cameras! 😂👍
Hi Ben. Glad to see another one of your videos. I like the magnets. I'm building a new workshop with a metal building kit. That magnet end would be very handly.
Nice to see you again. Next time look for any tape measure from the UK where 95% are in the dual centimetre / Imperial format. I attended a trade show at the weekend and a freebie was a 3 metre tape measure so, like you it can join its many brothers and sisters in the workshop.
It used to be that unless a tool had to have a name brand on it to be top quality and cutting edge technology. Craftsman, Blackhawk, S&K, Black & Decker, etc. Now, most of those brands can't even say quality or innovation. Nice piece, Ben!!!
That magnetic end would be great for fishing out sockets and bolts under the truck. My favorite tape has an alternate scale that gives you the middle or half way measurement. If you wanna see my brain overload ask me what half of 37 and 13/16 is 😂. Anyway, nice to see you and thanks for sharing. Cheers
I ony have Stanley, both SAE and SCIENCE! I do a lot of Ikea assembly, so metric is important to me here in Cali. Of course sometimes I wish I had only metric tape measures, drill bits, squares, etc., but they're not available here. Gotta carry around the larger bit sets that are graduated in 1/64ths because MERICA! Damnit.
In the 70s I rode Japanese dirt bikes. All I knew was metric. Now I can't identify a 10mm nut to save my life. I want to start integrating both into my projects. Thanks Phillip.
Potentially the magnet can throw off the measurement as the metal end is supposed to have the exact amount of play to lengthen or shorten the measurement corresponding to the thickness of the hook piece. So the amount of play would have to be increased. Plus if you use the magnet when measuring, as in the example, the length is expanding instead of contracting. This creates another error.
I bought a tape measure and when I got home no metric on it (sale price so didn't look clisely and AssUMe(d) it was both. Had to purchad a second one (on sale). All tape measures should be both. (Until the U.S. comes to their sences). Rebelled against their King but still use his measuring standards (Even though the King does'nt. Funny lot) 😁🇨🇦
Nice to hear from you again Ben, I was only thinking yesterday how I miss your videos, hope it's cooling down a bit for you there now ! We're bilingual here in the UK, and many of us of a certain age often end up using Imperial and Metric measurements in the same project which seems bonkers ! Hope all is well with you and yours, with best wishes.
Nice touch with the magnetic end. Really appreciate the easy locking feature since some of them are abysmal. A family member works with plumbing and is running into all kinds of metric standards. I found a similar tape at Fast Cap and outfitted he and the rest of the family DIY'ers with them as stocking stuffers. No getting around the increasing need and it's a handy bit of knowledge to have sometimes, even if it is just to follow YT videos from across the pond.

Thanks John! Yes, they're pointless.

2nd this!
Good luck on that metal building kit. Sounds like a lot of work... but probably worth it. :)

I'm a bit jealous of you brit's knowledge of metric. I am going to try and learn it better.

Thanks Greg!

Finding the halfway measurement is a beast. Thanks Joe.
Hey Ben. Hope to see you more
Thanks. I see your shorts often.
SWEET! Now all I need is to learn to read a tape! "God Bless
LOL Lewie.

Noted. Good information. I will be sure to check the "kerf" (so to speak). Thanks
Good to see you are doing ok Ben. I’m afraid someday inches will be a thing of the past and I’m to old to learn metric 😂😂
Come on, Jack. Let's learn it. We can do it!

We americans are whiny babies "BUT ITS TOO HARD!" - We also need to ditch the phillips head and convert to Robertson. :)
Hey Ben! Just checking in to say Howdy! Hope you dont mind! Have a good one!
Thank you. Howdy to you as well, Bill.
@@mrbenmall Happy to hear from you Ben! Thanks! Have a good one!
How did you clean those tiles in the end?
I didn't. I decided I'd work on it this fall when it's cooler.

I admire that, Andy. I wish the US had adopted the metric system more completely back in the 70s.
Good to see ya again Mr. Ben! Njce review and the magnets are a great feature. I dont think any if mine have that... good stuff sir!!
Thanks Vic!

Well, I'll be a dirty bird! Welcome back Ben! I think I have about 10 tape measures and not a one with metric so now I gotta fix that!
Crazy how we don't have metric lying around. :)
