I did this in my trailer . But only things I did different was I primed the floor first with some left over primer to seal the floor then applied the epoxy then clear coat . It’s been good for the last 3 years
Hey this was a good video. Just curious why you didn’t just use Kilz to soak into the wood instead of losing the expensive stuff from absorption. Grey kilz would have made for a great base.
I was debating that in the beginning but in my research i seen where the finish peeled up in some areas so I decided to just go with the Rock Solid and let that soak in and make a really strong bound. A little more expensive but worth it in my opinion. So far so good no areas have peeled or anything. Looks just like when I put it down.
Looks great! Glad to hear it's holding up well. Looking for a little clarification....and your opinion. I've read two different responses to how big your trailer is, 8.5x24 and 28 feet long. Which one is correct and did I understand the video correctly that you used 3 bags? Also, I just bought a 6x12 V-nose. It's 14.5 to the tip of the nose. I'm wanting to do the floor, ramp, and flap which is just under 120 sq/ft. Would the 2.5 garage kit be enough for good coverage or should I expect to need more? Thanks and keep the great content coming!
I guess our actual enclosed space is 8.5x24. I think you should be alright but maybe grab an extra bag just incase you need it and if you don't you can just take it back. The amount you use depends on your floor and how you do it. Some prime it first, then there is people like me that did not prime it to allow the epoxy to soak in to the floor a little to have a better bond. Either way it is good stuff.
Sorry for the delay in response, I used the Rustoleum rock solid Polycuramine Gloss Clear top coating 2.5 car garage kit. Since the wood was sealed at this point 1 kit worked well.
Is the floor slippery with the clear and having the anti skid? I’ve use clear on my garage and it’s super slippery when wet but I’ve never tried the anti skid with it.
Primer for sure would have helped with that. We spoke to the manufacture about using just the epoxy with out primer and they said it would be fine and probably have a better bond as it would be bonding directly to the wood and not a primer. It does use more epoxy but worth it. Ours is holding up well.
It is holding up really well. There was some debate in the beginning if we should have primed the floor first but I am glad we didn't because the epoxy has a better bond with the wood and not just to a primer. Used a little more epoxy but worth it.
If you use the right amount it works well. It's better than the chips, the chips stick up and it's not easy to clean the floor in the future. I like the anti skid stuff better but use the amount the recommend. I believe 1 3.4 oz pack is good for 1 bag of polycuramine, or per 1 gallon of epoxy.
It is holding up great. Really stong finish so far and I have dragged a bunch of stuff in and out. It adhered good to the floor. I know it took more product but I am glad I applied it to the bare floor and let it soak in for a deeper better bond. If I would have primed the floor first I think the bond would only be to the primer and not as deep.
So this is the third video I watched, where their isn't enough for a dual port car garage floor, you blame it on the wood soaking in the layers. LOL you got ripped off and suckered into buying a useless kit that lies to you. I'm not going to use this on my floor. I can do a can of driveway coating that will work a lot better. I get 5 gallons for less than 25 bucks.
We wanted the epoxy to stick to the wood not the primer so it would adhere better. You are right we did use more epoxy but it should be a better bond according to the manufacturer.
Thanks!
Thanks for the honesty .. Its becoming a pattern in many videos . looks nice .
I hope it earned us a subscribe. ;)

How’s it holding up? About to do this but was told not to use primer first.
Glad you told us we may need more I'm fixing to do my trailer with solar panel converter battery .maybe put 30 amp with ac thanks

Great vid Jimmy what size is that trailer. Thanks
Thank you. The trailer is a 28 foot
Looks good anticipating completion
Hello Texan1845,
Is a project ever really done? We have a lot planned. Thanks for watching. We appreciate ya.
Bullseye 123 primer, then the epoxy cote.
Yes primer is an option, but we decided to go straight epoxy so that our coating adheres to the floor and not the primer for a better application.
Would like to see finished product 15:29
What did you use for a clear coat and how much did you need? I have a 8 1/2 x 24 foot cargo trailer

@@liljay32 anti skid deffinately helps when the floor is wet.
If you put primer on the floor would that have helped in stopping from your flooring being sucked up?
Trowelable wood filler I used a brand called Goodfilla Woodfilla. Wood filler is what Rustoleum recommended me to do and it worked pretty well.
Primer for sure would have helped with that. What clear coat did you use?
We used the Rock-solid Clear by Rust-oleum. There is a link in the description.
Good video, I have a 6x10 cargo, would one kit cover it?
Yes it should be enough.
@@Jimmy2Tech yes just did mine 7x16 with the 1 car kit and was enough
It's been almost a year. How is it holding up?
It is holding up really well. There was some debate in the beginning if we should have primed the floor first but I am glad we didn't because the epoxy has a better bond with the wood and not just to a primer. Used a little more epoxy but worth it.

Why didnt you seam the joints to prevent flexing/cracking?
Hello Retro,
We did not feel it nessary for our project. So far it has been great with no issues. So far so good. Thanks for watching.
Where did you get the rubber seal for the ramp?
We picked that up on Amazon, Here is a link if you are interested.

What is the size of your trailer???
Ours is 28 Foot
What size trailer was it ??
It it a 8.5x24
Why is this better than the epoxy kit?
Application is a bit easier and the price is good if you're on a budget.
Would you have used a good primer in hind sight?
Hello BeSearching,
Not sure I would have. Not sure if a primer would affect how well the poly would adhere to the floor so I did not want chance it.
The whole function of primer is for paint to adhere better. You should have asked the paint store.
Wood filler(trowelable) is suitable for this.
Any updates?

what clear did you use?
Hey Malach,
I used the Rustoleum rock solid Polycuramine Gloss Clear top coating 2.5 car garage kit.
@@Jimmy2Tech did you have to use more clear over finish than recommended? did it spread good?
Is clear coat a must?
Youre happy with this kit?
I cannot believe how bad the reviews are on homedepot for this stuff. Literally the reviews are terrible lol...
I love this stuff, it is holding up good. My only complaint is you will use way more then they say you will.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BUY A CHEAP TRAILER, YA GET WHAT YA PAY FOR..
You didn’t prime the wood. Big mistake. You’ll have to do two more coats of epoxy.
We wanted the epoxy to stick to the wood not the primer so it would adhere better. You are right we did use more epoxy but it should be a better bond according to the manufacturer.
