    Yes, as noted elsewhere, this table is by Clearaudio, and has been out in this exact form, by the Marantz label since at least 2013. There's a short review in October of 2013 in Stereophile. That being said, it appears from all reviews I've seen to be a solid table, and I also really like the way it looks. I guess, at this point, since I still haven't bought it, one reason why is that I keep expecting an update. I believe it originally sold for about $1600 with a Clearaudio cartridge. Also, this wasn't mentioned but I'm sure you are aware that Marantz has been around since 1953. One of the "originals", you might say.

    I have the TT15. It’s beautiful. Running with Marantz SR7013 Pre and Marantz MM8077 Amp. Also several pairs of B&W speakers and B&W subs.
    My favorite listening is flat with tone control (with room correction), however depending upon the recording I will adjust for Audyssey and M-DAX.
    Heavenly.

    I have an old Technics and a Audio Technica I love both of them. I really enjoy listening to albums like Rush Moving Pictures and Pink Floyd Animals. That said BLS and everything just sounds so much better on a turntable. I guess its nostalgia.

    I bought this TT when in 2008 when it first came out. It's such a sonic bang for the buck. I just get the cart retipped when needed. As noted by others, it's mostly a rebadged CA, and it says Made in Germany on the box.

      Thanks MC, yes, it stays in the line because it is a good bang for the buck, so it keeps selling well. We're glad you are 15 years in and still rolling

      @@mrpetit2 get a Clearaudio instead.

    • @mrpetit2
      @mrpetit2 2 года назад +2

      @@playbackvintagehifihunter9669 The comparable Clearaudio is the Emotion SE (virtually identical). That's €500 more expensive, so the Marantz is a good deal. The included cartridges are also very similar (virtuoso ebony versus Artist V2; both based on the same Audio technica body and stylus, both encaptuled in ebony). For that €500 extra you can buy a really nice cartridge that outperforms both; something like an AT-OC9XML.
      However I'm more into vintage turntables, mainly Biotracers and decks that have similar tech.

    The only downside I see with this turntable is that it doesn't have an integrated dustcover.
    That's obviously a personal preference. But build/quality wise this would probably be my #1 pick if I had to buy a new turntable with a $2k budget.
    BTW this turntable has been on the market for quite a few years now, at least since 2009.

    The motor sits in one part with the tonarm. How is the mechanical decoupling implemented, apart from being far away :-) ?

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Thomas, Marantz refers to the motor being separated from the platter as Floating Motor Mount Construction. Isolating a belt drive motor off to the side, with the belt connected to the platter, but the motor not directly connected, means that - at least in theory - the belt itself can absorb some of the vibrations, rather than those vibrations being directly transmitted into the platter. Budget turntables almost never offer a motor offset this way, but lots of mid-priced and almost all high end 'tables are built like this. Here's the Marantz customer support link if you have further questions - support.marantz.com

    Is there a VTA?

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  2 года назад

      There is not a dedicated adjustment, you would just do so by adjusting the counterweight.

    • @mrpetit2
      @mrpetit2 2 года назад +1

      Yes you can adjust the VTA by loosen an allen bolt at the base of the arm and raising/lowering the tonearm.
      It's in the manual.
      But no "VTA on the fly".
      I don't know if it has azimuth adjustment; there's nothing in the manual.
      There is a screw at the base of the arm wand near the headshell (to mate the arm to the headshell arrangement). But I don't know if loosening that screw also gives azimuth adjustment.
      A lot of arms do with a screw in that position, but that's not the most ergonomic system to do that.

      Thanks Lamotta, this 'table is a Marantz design based on a German ClearAudio, manufactured by ClearAudio. A search of the info guide, owner's manual and warranty card did not reveal a country of origin. If that part is crucial for your decision, you may want to reach out to Marantz directly: support.marantz.com
