A big thanks to both Skinny Medic & Sootch. This was a well needed video. Too many have quirred Blow Out Kits and IFAKS from EBay and have not really aquirred the proper knowledge to use them. I would like to even see some more detailed videos. I think info on packing a wound could be expounded on.I know you need to be careful along the lines of liability, and understandably so. But some more detail would sure be appreciated/. I KNEW SOOTCH had cut off the end of that airway, AND I NAILED IT!!
Excellent video! I'm an EMT for the City of Boston where we see a lot of blunt and penetrating trauma so I know where you are coming from. Thanks again.
Good video, I would just like to add a few things and make a few things more clear. - You must expose the wound to properly treat it. Cut the clothes off, don't worry about some shirt or piece of equipment being expensive or their favorite. If it is in the way of treating them it needs to be removed. A tourniquet will be much more effective directly on the skin than over clothing. If you aren't ducking bullets, remove the clothing and apply it. After applying a TQ - go back and check it numerous times, they sometimes will start bleeding again and need tightening. A TQ can be VERY painful, but pain is better than dead. For Nasal airways, you can put the airway in either nose, just make sure the curvature is down and not up. Lube is essential to making insertion easier, if you dont have lube, put it in their gums to get saliva on it then try to insert it. You may have to twist it back and forth. I highly suggest taking a first aid class to learn how to use these items.
Thanks for actually opening the products and showing them. I expected the hyfin seals to have a one way air valve. Don't Bolin and Halo seals have valves in them to help the patient breathe with a punctured or collapsed lung?
Perhaps you should add a space pen or a Sharpie to the trauma kit so there will be a writing implement handy to record the time applied on the tourniquet.
Fantastic video. Very informative. I would like to see one on your Large Molle Kit as well. Describing the use of some of that stuff would be extremely helpful. I have fairly extensive first aid training from years of military service but even I don't know what or how to use several of the items in the Large Molle kit. Someone with a limited back ground in first aid would probably be lost. I'll be looking over what you have to offer on your web page. I am in need of a good REAL first aid kit other than the Walmart specials.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video brother I would really like to get my hands on one of your trauma kits here in the UK if there is any way or if you have started selling on Amazon please could you include a link to your page or if you have any ideas of anywhere or any how I can get one here thanks again brother god bless you
I was kinda looking forward to seeing the chest patches actually applied, then ripped off. Just like real life!! LOL!! Bet Sootch would have screamed like a girl!! LOL!! Great vid as always!!
Sootch had me going for a minute at the end of the video. I thought you actually ran that thing through his nose. Question about that Israeli bandage: aren't you supposed to run it through that built-on bracket, then reverse direction to torque it down? Or is that only with an extremity?
Just curious, In SHTF what do you do after you have stabilized someone and a doctor is not availible? Do you have a crash course on removing gauze/tourniquet and treating the wound?
You could open the first layer of the Israeli bandage, makes it faster and it's sill sterile. Question, do you think you could cut an NPA to the appropriate size in the field? I have been sitting on that idea for awhile
Heeey - that tickles... Just kiddin, I hope we never have to apply these lessons.... Sadly, I think they Will be needed sooner than later. Thanks for the video.
kg kb You have to get a chest seal on asap. A vented seal will let air escape. A no vented seal like shown will not and you may have to remove it to allow air to escape.
VERY good and informative video. Thank you By the way: I would spend 5$ just to see him with the real nose hose... Who else? I think we will get 50$...

Either way ... You do get more pressure by running it back through
Whoa, I was not expecting to see sootch lol
Awesome video.. I would love to see some real footage of how to pack wounds.
ohh that nose hose at the end of the vid, my eyes started to water when i saw it in sootch's nose hahaha
"At all times I have a finger in Sootch's armpit." -- LOL!!! Great looking kit Sir!
great video, your assistant was a bit homely, but once you get past that, you learn a lot. ;) LOL
Good stuff Gents! Valuable info! Cheers JJ
Thanks for actually opening the products and showing them. I expected the hyfin seals to have a one way air valve. Don't Bolin and Halo seals have valves in them to help the patient breathe with a punctured or collapsed lung?
This is an older video, my kits now have vented chest seals in them.

Cool vid hopefully never needed but if so this is a great start to saving a life.
Outstanding
Couldn't talk Sootch into demo'ing the nasal tube? What a friend? lol
Thanks this meant a lot

neanderthor66 just on an extremity. You don't want to put that kind of pressure on the chest or abdomen because it can restrict the patients breathing
Good stuff, I need to get a couple of those chest seals.
Great information! Medical supplies are useless if you don't know how to use them. The end was funny 2!
Nicely done! good info!
are there any tips/tricks to getting the gloves on more quickly when you are under stress?
Just curious, In SHTF what do you do after you have stabilized someone and a doctor is not availible? Do you have a crash course on removing gauze/tourniquet and treating the wound?
+wahoo31151 No I need to post a video on that subject
Great Video
Now I know how to pack a wound - thanks!
