Dwayne Johnson is totally a family movie guy and he should stay that way. I don't like him as an R Rated movie guy. It's too weird, and I loved him in Journey 2, Moana, The Game Plan, San Andreas, The Fate of the Furious, etc. He made the movie a lot better and it was really exciting to see him. In the Rated R movies, I think he's boring to be perfectly honest with you. It's just better for him as a family guy. It's different to see him in an R Rated movie. He's better as a family guy.

part of the reason people don't like it is because it doesn't look good relative to the previous film personally I felt they should have ended the series with At Worlds End.
Honestly....That RT score for Pirates 5 is ridiculous. Pirates 5 was pretty damn good. Very entertaining. Not perfect, but deserves a way higher score than 31%. I think it's the second best film in the franchise. Sad that people are relying on critics to tell them what to go see.
Well, Critics don't think Pirates 5 was a pretty damn good movie, so I gotta' side with them on this one. The average Critic rating was 4.7, and that sounds about right, given what I saw.
I know exactly how RT works. Critics have certain expectations from films. Me as a movie fan I just want to be entertained and see a quality flick. I don't need a Oscar qualifier to get me to go see a movie. Pirates was very entertaining and the cinematography was beautiful. Most of the jokes were aimed towards kids, with a few hidden adult jokes in it and it being a Disney film that was to be expected. I just think the critics were way to hard on this film for what it is suppose to be. Disney was not trying to win an Oscar here, they were just putting out a summer fun film.
You do realize critics are also movie fans, right? To imply that they only like Oscar films is ridiculous, otherwise, films like Kong: Skull Island wouldn't have gotten good reviews. They didn't like this movie and you did, that's all there is to it.

All I can say is that just like Marvel stay on a similar formula, WW stays on the same vibe of the past DCEU movies specially BvS and Men of Steel. The way movie ticket prices keep escalating is the main reason that keeps me from seeing a movie in theaters, regardless how good critics say it is. So I save my $ for movies I'm really psyched to see that I can't wait for streaming. Wonder Woman is getting my behind in theaters this weekend because I've been psyched for it since enjoying Gadot in BvS, even if critics said the WW movie was bad, which thank the Greek gods, isn't the case. I'm trying to get my friends to see it with me to support the opening weekend box office. 🙅🏻

Hey, Grace! Yes, I'm looking forward to Wonder Woman very much, and I can say I learned something from your coverage of this movie that's been of real help. In your videos on the trailers and stills for the film, you've praised Gal Gadot's skills at what you call face-acting. When a friend of mine asked me to perform a children's story for an event she was running, I took face-acting into account, practicing in front of my bathroom mirror and watching to make sure I captured the emotions of the various characters in the story with my expressions. I also had my partner watch for face-acting when I practiced in front of him. Well, I did the performance over the weekend, and I had grown-ups in the audience come up and tell me I was amazing and should do this kind of thing more often! While I already had some experience with storytelling, your videos helped me improve my game because I wouldn't have thought of the importance of face-acting if you hadn't mentioned it. I now have even more confidence in myself as a storyteller. Just thought I'd share with you a way in which your fabulous work really does improve people's lives beyond the trailer. i'm one of those weekly moviegoers, i'm there each weekend catching at least one movie, if not two. and to be honest, i was not excited for any movies this weekend. my sister saw pirates 5 on friday and told me it got so boring she and her girlfriend fell asleep halfway thru, and she LOVES pirates!! luckily for my dad and i, who are the avid moviegoers in the family, get out premiered here in mexico this weekend so we went to watch that instead (and everyone was right, it's fantastic).

Congratulations!!!!! I hope Grace answer's your question. I personally haven't lost faith in DCEU but my excitement for future DC films has wavered a bit Due to the disappointment of 2016 DC films and the 4 quadrant of opinions that have risen from and the stupid Marvel Vs. DC war. Wonder Woman is the movie I been wanting to see of summer 2017 movies. W.W being well received and being financially successful will give Justice League a small line of credit come November. But their still a lot of DC fans that don't care for Snyder's interpretation of the DC characters trying to emulate being more like Batman.
Dont know about grace but personally I think opinions are driven rather than formed. And by that I mean Marvel is paying for driving opinion and rest simply follow. Cant prove it though

sadly Hollywood HATES acknowledging that quality as a factor and critics HATE acknowledge that its a factor with Blockbusters ( ie that a popular movie can also be good/ a peice of Art,) its the same reason why they treat every good Comic Book Movie as a fluke rather than acknowledge the validity of a newly emerging subgenre
It's ironic...because usually we begin with horrible movies during the start of the year and then slowly pick-up with decent films around this time. HOWEVER it seems that this year it has been the other way around 😂
It's sad because it seems like Disney has no intention to improve the Pirate's franchise. It's almost as if because they have Star Wars and Marvel, they just don't care about Pirates of the Caribbean . I enjoyed the fifth movie more than the fourth, however, there are a more flaws than what I wished. I'm rooting for a better sequel. Even so, I still had a good time watching Pirates with my family.
I want the franchise to get back on its feet, and you are right. I don't think Disney cares enough to do that. I hate how they think we will watch anything because it is in a franchise.
Just bought my WW ticket and I'm a little surprised by the number of screens. I bought GotG and Logan a week early and they had like 5 and they only got 3 for this one and nobody has any seats reserved yet.. weird.
My question is: If Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides was a complete disappointment and waste of money to most people(not to me), then why did it make over a billion dollars in box office and become the 23rd highest grossing movie of all time? It seems to prove that even though the critics can slam down a movie, it can still go skyrocketing through the box office.

Pirates wasn't that bad or that different from any of the previous installments. it was probably even better than some of the other ones.

4 day weekend? I only got a 3 day weekend. Grace where is my extra day??? Also Star Wars was always released in May, they just had delays on the Force Awakens which pushed it to Christmas.
sadly Hollywood HATES acknowledging that quality as a factor and critics HATE acknowledge that its a factor with Blockbusters ( ie that a popular movie can also be good/ a peice of Art,) its the same reason why they treat every good Comic Book Movie as a fluke rather than acknowledge the validity of a newly emerging subgenre
It's ironic...because usually we begin with horrible movies during the start of the year and then slowly pick-up with decent films around this time. HOWEVER it seems that this year it has been the other way around 😂
It's sad because it seems like Disney has no intention to improve the Pirate's franchise. It's almost as if because they have Star Wars and Marvel, they just don't care about Pirates of the Caribbean . I enjoyed the fifth movie more than the fourth, however, there are a more flaws than what I wished. I'm rooting for a better sequel. Even so, I still had a good time watching Pirates with my family.
I want the franchise to get back on its feet, and you are right. I don't think Disney cares enough to do that. I hate how they think we will watch anything because it is in a franchise.

Just bought my WW ticket and I'm a little surprised by the number of screens. I bought GotG and Logan a week early and they had like 5 and they only got 3 for this one and nobody has any seats reserved yet.. weird.
My question is: If Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides was a complete disappointment and waste of money to most people(not to me), then why did it make over a billion dollars in box office and become the 23rd highest grossing movie of all time?
It seems to prove that even though the critics can slam down a movie, it can still go skyrocketing through the box office.
