He has gone to some zombie to someone with a wide array of emotions. This theme is one of my absolute favorites in the franchise and his fight is amazing and is the best fight imo aside of Xemnas.

It's a case of "appearances can be deceiving". I was like that once upon a time but after seeing the secret ending of KH2FM I had to know more about this series. I had KH1 but never finished it and here I am many years later a huge fan of the series. If you showed someone this song and didn't tell them it was from a Disney game they'd never guess it.
Yeah look could be deceiving. At first glance I thought KH will just like another fanservice Disney game with simple plot for kid without much depth. but it turn out this game has a very complex well written story and characters. i kinda wish next KH Has higher age rating like at least 13+

The real name of this song is called "The Other Promise." There are TONS of different renditions of this song in the series and it's one of the most popular soundtracks in the franchise. This version is just one of them... Correct me if I'm wrong,, but I believe this specific rendition only plays once in the whole franchise and that is in the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II during the cutscene when Roxas discovers the truth of his existence...that he is not actually his own person; that he is just a husk -- a remnant left behind after Sora temporarily became a Heartless in the first game -- and that the town he thought he grew up in was just a simulation -- a datascape which he was imprisoned into with fake memories and fake friends created for the purpose of being studied by someone he's never met. The most heart-wrenching part of this whole thing was the pure existential despair over the sudden realization that he was never a real person and that he was never even meant to exist to begin with. Not to forget that his friends weren't even real and their real-life counterparts have no idea who he even is. The existential dread of not only his existence being an accident and knowing that he isn't even his own individual but some scrap left behind by someone he doesn't know but the fact that the place that he loved and the people he cared dearly about weren't even real. What mattered dearly to him was in reality just someone else's disposable data. I was like 11 or 12 or something when I played KHII for the first time... which was actually the very first Kingdom Hearts game I've ever played. It was a weird beginning to be introduced into the franchise, but I remember being just as confused and crushed as Roxas was when he discovered Sora in his sleeping pod. (The fact that Roxas was just as clueless to Sora's identity as I was only poured gas onto the fire.) I nearly wanted to just quit the game after that. The sudden turn in tone from that dark intro to Soras bright and positive adventurous attitude felt uncanny, especially considering that I knew ZERO background to the franchise back then.
You're correct that it's not Roxas' Theme, but The other promise. However, as for when it plays... I think it was first played in Days, when Axel fights Xion to try to get her back at the doors of the Mansion in Twilight Town. The part you mention at the beginning of KH2 I think is actually Roxas' Theme, but now I'm not 100% sure.

I had the exact same first experience with KH - I also started with KH2 at that age. I was so mad I would keep playing the Roxas part, and didn't enjoy the rest of the game that much. Then I went back and played the first game and started to like Sora a lot more, but he is such a jerk at the beginning of KH2, at least that's what I thought because that was the first time I met him. It felt like a completely different game.
Roxas was the first ever character i saw in the Kingdom Hearts series, seeing him disappear so fast in the game and barely being able to play him made me so sad for many years. He's a goddamn legend in my heart and always will be.
Pretty ironic tbh. For people who played the first game, the Roxas segment was a boring slog and they just wanted to know what was up with Sora. But for you, who started with KH2, you didn't realize that anything was out of the ordinary when you boot up the game for the first time and you were playing as Roxas instead of Sora. As a result, you felt the same gut punch seeing Roxas rejoin Sora as people who played the first game felt when they saw the Destiny Islands get swallowed by the darkness. Funny how much our expectations can color these things.

The Ice Cream Trio will always and forever hold a special place for me, they are actually my favorite of all the iconic trios from KH. This song hurts to hear, and never fails to bring me to tears.
Every version of Roxas had an hell of a life. Some people want Roxas back in KH3 and I would love to see that happen and seeing him interact with Hayner, Pence and Olette but at the same time I think ''they don't even know him, no one knows him, these people probably had different adventurous than Roxas, different fights, I don't want to see Roxas getting dissapointed or seeing getting hurt again.'' He learned how to use emotions in 358 with Axel and Xion... And only hurted him in the end. Recoded, BBS he doesn't get a good end. Roxas is one of my favorite characters in gaming wih one of the greatests story's I have ever seen. Rest in peace.
Roxas is more Sora than Ventus, he just have Ventus appearence, but his was made from Sora's heart. If he was a normal simili, he would look exactly like Sora and have his memories. Ventus prevent that to happen, his heart was in roxas body and was blocking sora's memories. So Roxas didn't had any memories, allowing him to be himself and not just the simili of Sora. If Ventus wasn't here, he would be exactly a copy pasta of Sora. I always find this weird, to think that if Sora had loose his memories and was in the place of Roxas, he would have behaved exactly like that. Roxas is just another Sora with another life.

I guess, but since Disney allowed Nintendo to use Sora (and, as a result, other Kingdom Hearts characters) we have a chance to see Roxas as a fully playable and unique character in another Smash game.

Roxas holds a special place in my heart as the first Kingdom Hearts character I ever knew. Yes, the first Kingdom Hearts game I ever played was 358/2 Days.
I played the games released prior to 358/2 Days, so I didn't care for Roxas during KH2. After playing 358, Roxas, Axel, & Xion definitely became my favorite characters. I hope they get another game in the near future

The Keyblade of Destiny The manga version added the extra emotion of tears as he expressed his hate towards DiZ which was good honestly. A remaster of 2 would be amazing

my neighbors dog died in my arms today... she was such a good dog.. she didnt deserve to be neglected.. for two days she was barking.. i thought he (the owner) was doing something with her but no.. he just left her chained to a fence in his back yard... i did everything i could when i saw her..untied her from leash and collar.. pulled her onto a dirty nearby blanket and dragged her into the shade.. wet her nose and paws but it was already too late.. she was gone... she was taking shorter and shorter breaths.. until she just... was still... god i cant stop crying... she didnt deserve this... she was so sweet and never shy to show her love.. a beautiful great dane, 3 years old and she was left in the back yard alone and in the heat with no water and scattered hard dog food... i did all i could.. rest in peace brandy you were a very good girl that deserved so much more... ill always keep your memory in my heart..
My dog passed just 2 months ago. I was extremely upset that she went away. It was like a vase just shattered inside of my heart. I cared for her like she was family. I let her lay beside me when she was scared, or when she was tired. I even played with her a lot. These past 2 months have been really silent. No constant barking, no frantic pacing on the stairs... it just feels... _empty,_ like a deep sleep, but with no dream.
I told a customer how I loved KH. She said the Disney stuff always turned her off. I said you’re really missing out. The story is emotional and beautiful.

Plus, the Disney worlds weren’t even bad; they were the most fully realized and explorable they had ever been in the series. Like the Disney worlds or not, the endgame of kh3 was beautiful.
@@Erikthedood My only problem with the Disney Worlds in KH3 is that Disney pretty much prevented Nomura from doing what he wanted with them and essentially forced him to copy-paste the movie story in some cases (like Frozen or Tangled). Apart for this, they are easily the best Disney worlds in the entire series.

This rips you apart when it plays in the fight against Roxas. He gives you absolutely everything he's got and holds nothing back, both because he wants to test Sora to see if everything he went through was worth it or not in the end, whether or not he will be able to have his vengeance on Xemnas for what he did to Axel and Xion, and also of course to unleash whatever rage his Nobody form allows him to feel upon Sora for being born. Be sure not to disappoint him.

Honestly, Roxas was always my favorite character despite the fact he was only KHII's Prologue protagonist, discovering the truth of his existence making him all so much more tragic a hero. Even when I was a kid my heart was sufficiently hurt knowing my time playing him was so mockingly brief, but it was worse later when I learned his friends never truly knew of his existence. Tragic to a T, man.
knowing that there might be no real happy end for roxas in kh3 makes me sad... you know he is just a piece of sora, yet i feel like he could have his own game series and be the main hero, he is amazing and i love roxas!
I know he ended up getting a happy ending in kH3 and that was amazing. But I can't help but wonder whether it just cheaply downplay's all his suffering just for some fan service. Like everyone loves to see a tragic character be happy again. But something more important is that character just being at peace. Roxas's final arc in KH2 ended in peace. And although i think he deserved to be with Xion and Axel.... i think the way they did it was just too unrealistic for a series that generally has come across as a metaphor for life.
What I really love about the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack is that it's mystical but royal at the same time, truly a fairy tale kinda vibe. Even when somber the piano is regal, and even when painful the strings are slow, the choir signs an elegy for the boy who never existed.

KH3 SPOILERS Roxas, Xion, and several other Organization members (only Xemnas and those two are explicitly confirmed but Saix, Axel, and Xigbar are heavily implied) are confirmed to have hearts, as nobodies can grow hearts by forming bonds with others. (Or in Xigbar's case by being the man behind the man behind the man behind the man.)
probably the part that always makes me cry is the very beginning of kh 2 when Sora is waking up and the last line Roxas delivers are: "Looks like my summer vacation is ...over". THAT LINE ALWAYS MAKES ME CRY SO HARD he didnt deserve that..im happy in KH3 hes back with his friends, once a vessel finally became a human!

Disagree, Roxas's return was quick, but it still did everything right and everything made sense, also, the idea of Roxas just being straight up invincible during the fight, allowing him to literally tear Saix apart, makes the scene worth replaying a million times.
Kingdom Hearts 2 was the very first Kingdom Hearts game I ever played, so I knew Roxas before I knew Sora. He’s always been one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite.

I mean, he did come out of a book in the DDD opening, for some reason, that gets me thinking, what if Roxas DOES come back? And he becomes the 7th guardian of light, it's either him, Lea, or Kairi.
Roxas is by far the most tragic character in all of Kingdom Hearts considering he lost both his friends that day then found out he wasn't suppose to exist.
Roxas has the roughest life: Being kept in the dark by the Organization, Unable to trust his best friend (Axel), Having to destroy Xion, and along with Namine, being used by DIZ (Ansem The Wise) then discarded for Sora.
I first saw Roxas at the end of Riku's Story in Chain of Memories and intrigued by who this mysterious kid was, and with the release of KH2 I was formally introduced to a character i knew I would love.
Exactly^ yes he's been betrayed, he has experienced loss and he's even been manipulated and decieved, but he DID NOT let all that make an emo crybaby put of him! He grew a pair and decided to fight back! Yeah he is still shaken by trust issues but he STILL tries to be brave and even confident and remains a loyal friend to his day ones! Basically, he may not take jack shit from anyone these days, but he hasn't forgotten how to be a good person to those who deserve it.

The real name of this song is called "The Other Promise." There are TONS of different renditions of this song in the series and it's one of the most popular soundtracks in the franchise. This version is just one of them...
Correct me if I'm wrong,, but I believe this specific rendition only plays once in the whole franchise and that is in the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II during the cutscene when Roxas discovers the truth of his existence...that he is not actually his own person; that he is just a husk -- a remnant left behind after Sora temporarily became a Heartless in the first game -- and that the town he thought he grew up in was just a simulation -- a datascape which he was imprisoned into with fake memories and fake friends created for the purpose of being studied by someone he's never met. The most heart-wrenching part of this whole thing was the pure existential despair over the sudden realization that he was never a real person and that he was never even meant to exist to begin with. Not to forget that his friends weren't even real and their real-life counterparts have no idea who he even is. The existential dread of not only his existence being an accident and knowing that he isn't even his own individual but some scrap left behind by someone he doesn't know but the fact that the place that he loved and the people he cared dearly about weren't even real. What mattered dearly to him was in reality just someone else's disposable data.
I was like 11 or 12 or something when I played KHII for the first time... which was actually the very first Kingdom Hearts game I've ever played. It was a weird beginning to be introduced into the franchise, but I remember being just as confused and crushed as Roxas was when he discovered Sora in his sleeping pod. (The fact that Roxas was just as clueless to Sora's identity as I was only poured gas onto the fire.) I nearly wanted to just quit the game after that. The sudden turn in tone from that dark intro to Soras bright and positive adventurous attitude felt uncanny, especially considering that I knew ZERO background to the franchise back then.

I had the exact same first experience with KH - I also started with KH2 at that age. I was so mad I would keep playing the Roxas part, and didn't enjoy the rest of the game that much. Then I went back and played the first game and started to like Sora a lot more, but he is such a jerk at the beginning of KH2, at least that's what I thought because that was the first time I met him. It felt like a completely different game.
This is my favourite song in the Kingdom Hearts series. you can feel the sadness and tragedy in it.

But for you, who started with KH2, you didn't realize that anything was out of the ordinary when you boot up the game for the first time and you were playing as Roxas instead of Sora. As a result, you felt the same gut punch seeing Roxas rejoin Sora as people who played the first game felt when they saw the Destiny Islands get swallowed by the darkness.

Every version of Roxas had an hell of a life. Some people want Roxas back in KH3 and I would love to see that happen and seeing him interact with Hayner, Pence and Olette but at the same time I think ''they don't even know him, no one knows him, these people probably had different adventurous than Roxas, different fights, I don't want to see Roxas getting dissapointed or seeing getting hurt again.''

Roxas is more Sora than Ventus, he just have Ventus appearence, but his was made from Sora's heart. If he was a normal simili, he would look exactly like Sora and have his memories. Ventus prevent that to happen, his heart was in roxas body and was blocking sora's memories. So Roxas didn't had any memories, allowing him to be himself and not just the simili of Sora.
If Ventus wasn't here, he would be exactly a copy pasta of Sora.
I always find this weird, to think that if Sora had loose his memories and was in the place of Roxas, he would have behaved exactly like that.
Roxas is just another Sora with another life.
Ventus is also the reason why Roxas has feelings (As to shown roxas crying when Xion dies in KH 358/2 days)

my neighbors dog died in my arms today... she was such a good dog.. she didnt deserve to be neglected.. for two days she was barking.. i thought he (the owner) was doing something with her but no.. he just left her chained to a fence in his back yard... i did everything i could when i saw her..untied her from leash and collar.. pulled her onto a dirty nearby blanket and dragged her into the shade.. wet her nose and paws but it was already too late.. she was gone... she was taking shorter and shorter breaths.. until she just... was still... god i cant stop crying... she didnt deserve this... she was so sweet and never shy to show her love.. a beautiful great dane, 3 years old and she was left in the back yard alone and in the heat with no water and scattered hard dog food... i did all i could.. rest in peace brandy you were a very good girl that deserved so much more... ill always keep your memory in my heart..

My dog passed just 2 months ago. I was extremely upset that she went away. It was like a vase just shattered inside of my heart. I cared for her like she was family. I let her lay beside me when she was scared, or when she was tired. I even played with her a lot. These past 2 months have been really silent. No constant barking, no frantic pacing on the stairs... it just feels... _empty,_ like a deep sleep, but with no dream.
I told a customer how I loved KH. She said the Disney stuff always turned her off. I said you’re really missing out. The story is emotional and beautiful.

@@addzay3135if you don’t think the endgame of kingdom hearts 3 has some of the best content in the entire series I struggle to believe if you are actually a fan of kingdom hearts. Plus, the Disney worlds weren’t even bad; they were the most fully realized and explorable they had ever been in the series. Like the Disney worlds or not, the endgame of kh3 was beautiful.
@@Erikthedood My only problem with the Disney Worlds in KH3 is that Disney pretty much prevented Nomura from doing what he wanted with them and essentially forced him to copy-paste the movie story in some cases (like Frozen or Tangled).
Apart for this, they are easily the best Disney worlds in the entire series.

He gives you absolutely everything he's got and holds nothing back, both because he wants to test Sora to see if everything he went through was worth it or not in the end, whether or not he will be able to have his vengeance on Xemnas for what he did to Axel and Xion, and also of course to unleash whatever rage his Nobody form allows him to feel upon Sora for being born. Be sure not to disappoint him.

Roxas is my favorite character of all time.
Honestly, Roxas was always my favorite character despite the fact he was only KHII's Prologue protagonist, discovering the truth of his existence making him all so much more tragic a hero. Even when I was a kid my heart was sufficiently hurt knowing my time playing him was so mockingly brief, but it was worse later when I learned his friends never truly knew of his existence. Tragic to a T, man.

I know he ended up getting a happy ending in kH3 and that was amazing. But I can't help but wonder whether it just cheaply downplay's all his suffering just for some fan service. Like everyone loves to see a tragic character be happy again. But something more important is that character just being at peace. Roxas's final arc in KH2 ended in peace. And although i think he deserved to be with Xion and Axel.... i think the way they did it was just too unrealistic for a series that generally has come across as a metaphor for life.

Roxas, Xion, and several other Organization members (only Xemnas and those two are explicitly confirmed but Saix, Axel, and Xigbar are heavily implied) are confirmed to have hearts, as nobodies can grow hearts by forming bonds with others. (Or in Xigbar's case by being the man behind the man behind the man behind the man.)

Disagree, Roxas's return was quick, but it still did everything right and everything made sense, also, the idea of Roxas just being straight up invincible during the fight, allowing him to literally tear Saix apart, makes the scene worth replaying a million times.
Kingdom Hearts 2 was the very first Kingdom Hearts game I ever played, so I knew Roxas before I knew Sora. He’s always been one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite.

Roxas is by far the most tragic character in all of Kingdom Hearts considering he lost both his friends that day then found out he wasn't suppose to exist.

I first saw Roxas at the end of Riku's Story in Chain of Memories and intrigued by who this mysterious kid was, and with the release of KH2 I was formally introduced to a character i knew I would love.
Its been 8 years since the first time i listen to this masterpiece and i still listen to it right now thats insane

Exactly^ yes he's been betrayed, he has experienced loss and he's even been manipulated and decieved, but he DID NOT let all that make an emo crybaby put of him! He grew a pair and decided to fight back! Yeah he is still shaken by trust issues but he STILL tries to be brave and even confident and remains a loyal friend to his day ones! Basically, he may not take jack shit from anyone these days, but he hasn't forgotten how to be a good person to those who deserve it.
If I had enough emotion left in me I would probably be crying
