Enjoying your videos Juan. We have subscribed in support! We know how hard it can be to produce good content and get your RUclips off the ground. We're a small channel too and going through it ourselves. So really wanted to show our support. Keep up the good work! Wish you success

Hey Juan I might be doing this they hike at the end of this month. Like you, I will also be starting from South Lake Tahoe and carrying a bear canister the whole time. ( BV475 is on sale at Campsaver for $62 right now.)
I’m looking forward to hearing about your trip. I’m don’t know if I want to go clockwise or counterclockwise. Hiker problems

I started where I did and went CCW just to get the dry section over with first. For me, that was a good choice because it allowed me to enjoy the rest of my hike wi though worrying about water that much. I can see value in doing it differently though. I think the main thing is to plant your miles/days well through the dry section to make sure you have a good water plan. A Rout 50 water cash/drop was key to me bing able to make it through the dry section. You will need to ‘dry camp” in that section so having capacity to carry more water will be important. I had 5 liter capacity and for me that was just enough… i did have to ration a bit to stretch my water.

Thanks for that tip about the water. I am leaning CCW with the same rationale.
One last thing, what do you think is the one biggest value going clockwise? Thanks

Helpful video, thanks! Heading out to TRT this fall for my first thru out West. Was mulling bringing food and buying fuel at REI near Reno airport and spending first night at Mt Rose campground and walking mostly downhill CW next 2 days to acclimate. Your plan of starting and ending in town makes sense though.

Glad it was helpful! I’m only taking a little food that I had left over from the Allegheny 100 Challenge. Most of my shopping will be done the day before I depart for the trailhead in Tahoe. When I did the High Sierra Trail last year we just bought all our food at Wal Mart. I have a basic food system down that I can do at about any big box grocery or even a Dollar General store or something similar. It’s cheaper that way and I can get higher calorie counts. I have a video of my food plan from then JMT which might help. Have a great time and good luck on your thru!!
