In the 1950's and early 1960's most pop stars had their material provided for them by teams of songwriters, most of them based in the Brill Building in Manhattan, New York. But Sam was self-sufficient, and he wrote some great songs, including most of his hit singles. He has been called "The King of Soul." EVERYBODY LOVES TO CHA CHA CHA is, however, something of a novelty song, but still well-written and well performed by Sam.
