Hello Randy. Thanks for watching. Keep me posted on how your progress is going. Are you planning on attending WGU and getting a degree in IT Management as well?
Correct. There are no additional fees for Sophia as it relates to taking exams. You simply pay the monthly fee and take as many courses as you can before the next month/billing cycle.
@@brianpaul1490 Correct. They use some kind of supposed software that makes you type a sentence to prove it’s you, not sure how well that works but even then it’s open book anyways and they encourage you to have a 2nd window open. No webcam, no proctors
How long was the process overall before you enrolled? What did your day to day look like with work, family, school, etc? How long did it take you once you enrolled at WGU?
Hello, and thank you for your questions. See my responses below. Note: I already had an AA degree l that I got in high school more than 10 years ago. 1. I decided on my major in August. 2. Met with my counselor in August, and she directed me to Sophia.org, I learned about Study.com elsewhere. 3. I completed my courses at Sophia and Study.com in a little over a month. My day-to-day was consumed with work and study. I would work 8 hours and study for six. I barely had a personal life. However, I told my family ahead of time that I would be like a hermit. I completed my degree in 3 months.
Hi Zavier, your videos are great! Thanks for creating this. I wanted to confirm something before applying, for step 1, I do apply so I can transfer whatever CU's I have done (previous classes). 2. Then whatever they say I have left to take, take it at study/sophia. Submit for transferring updated completed courses I had just taken. 3. After, pre-study for the classes I need to take at WGU. 4. Finally, register and finish up the final courses left. Let me know what you think, I appreciate you help. Kind regards
Yes that is correct. Once you are assigned an enrollment counselor, be up front with what you want to do so they can set the correct enrollment date to give you time to complete the courses at Study.com, Sophia.org, etc.
Thank you for this information! Been looking into getting my bachelor's with WGU.... Can you help me figure out where to find that link on WGU that shows their partners at 4:20? I wasn't able to access your links 😕

I hope this helps.
I have a question… I’ve enrolled but I haven’t gotten accept just yet. I’ve talked to a representative I applied for fasfa and requested for my transcript all of that is it too late for me too start with Sophia to get some courses completed before I actually start with the degree ?
Great question. I would check with an enrollment counselor to be sure, but I believe that if you HAVE NOT been accepted, you can get started with a program like Sophia, and then once you do get accepted, you can work with you counselor to determine your enrollment date. Let me know if you have any other questions.
That is correct. I mean technically you can take the courses, they just won't count toward the program that you are currently enrolled in. It's best to take all of the courses that you need by using my spreadsheet or the WGU pathways, and then once those are complete, you can begin the enrollment process with WGU. That way you are feeling rushed to get everything completed before the transfer cut-off deadline.
Thank you for this! How did you study for the Business Statistics final exam? I took the test and didn’t pass it the first time, so I am studying for it again, but I’ve been studying for 2 weeks straight and I’m burned out. ☹️
@techzavier is the Buss Statistics is Math heavy or vocab? And if you dont mind answering how many points you got in quizzes and final exam? I just want to get over and move on lol I got 100 in quizzes
Yeah, that almost happened to me as well. I will say that if you get comfortable with the OAs and PAs from WGU, you can still get through the degree program in a relatively short amount of time.
If I work for an employer that pays for college tuition. Would you recommend just enrolling in WGU and completing classes? Or would u take third party exams like Sophia? Which is faster? Thanks for the video!
Great question. It depends on your starting point and how much free time you have. That if you are starting from zero (just high school diploma or GED), then I would start with Sophia, then Study.com, and finall WGU. However, if you're not working a full-time job, and are willing to commit 6-8 hours a day to studying, then you can go directly through WGU in the first term. But if you think it will take more than onw term at WGU regardless of your availability, then I recommend Study.com and Sophia.
in my opinion, it depends on the speed you want to complete your degree, my employer offers an education benefit through guild education and their best university is purdue for BS in cybersecurity, however i recently learned that there is a limit of 2 courses per 10 week term, and even if you finish those 2 courses before the term is over you cannot take additional courses. based on what i've learned i've decided to opt for sophia since based on what everyone is saying, it's possible to hit more than 10 courses in a month even working a full time job, as opposed to university where they give you way more materials and papers to write, along with them more than likely being proctored as opposed to sophia.
Does your transfer credit turn into units? I only want to do general Ed through Sophia. The only problem is none of the community colleges I want to transfer to (nursing programs) accept their credits. Do your transcripts say you have credit/units from Sophia or do they equate to WGU’s classes? Basically the class you took on Sophia turns into an equivalent class from WGU’s and you earn those units in place of the Pass/Fail credit?
Yes the Sophia courses transfer directly to WGU and satisfy the specific course for WGU. 👍🏾 I have a link to a spreadsheet that shows the General Ed class transfer courses. The link is available in the description 🙂.
@@tehczavier thank you! And what if I transfer to a college that is not partnered with Sophia but they do accept Sophia credits for transfer. When the credits transfer do my transcripts state Sophia credits or do the credits turn into units?

Thank you fornthe question, and be sure to check the spreadsheet link in the description. In total, I earned about 45 credit/units from the 18 courses that I took between Study.com and Sophia.org. Hey question! It it better to go by the pathways agreement by completing courses through Sophia and then enrolling in wgu so it can save you some time and money since wgu does 6minth terms?
In my opinion it is better to go through the pathways if you are new to online courses, new to college, are working while going to school, or have been out of school for some time and need to get used to the work life balance of being a student. Otherwise, if you are confident in your skills an ability to complete classes quickly, then by all means just pay for the WGU six-month term.
Hi Layray, Unfortunately, I have a very busy schedule, but if you have specific questions, I'm happy to answer the best that I can to help you navigate any courses. I just graduated and plan on doing a recap of the courses that I took at Study.com, Sophia, and WGU. If that's something that you are interested in, then stay tuned my friend.

@@ADailyDoseOfGrace yes I did have repeat some of the quizzes multiple times. However that repetition allowed things to stick for me. And with Study.com the proctored exam was really similar to the mandatory quizzes. It's hard to give a definitive yes or no to that question. Yes, if you are new to online learning or have been out of school for an extended period of time. No, if you are confident that you can pass the courses within WGU.
In your experience, how often would these exams you took be proctored? Was it the midterm, final, both? Was it every class or just some classes? Just curious.
Apologies for the late reply. Great question. It depended on the school. For example, all of Study.com's exams were proctored, however the proctoring was not live, but instead some one reviewed the upload stream of your exam. For Sophia LLC, the courses that were "proctored" weren't done so in a traditional sense. Instead the school remembers your keystroke and uses that as form of authentication. Then the actual exam is open book and open notes. Lastly, for WGU, the exam was more of a final exam and it was always a live proctor.
Did you listen to each text every challenge and study? Or did you just search online and also use resources from the course for everything? Such milestones, and final exams as well.
@@khalidjackson3179 got it. When I went through the content in Sopiha, I opened the questions side-by-side with the content (PDF). I used my favorite command "Ctrl F" to look up terms. Remember that Sophia is open-book so all the exams are passable.

@@khalidjackson3179 First thing I would recommend is go at the pace that you are comfortable with. Then reflect on your study approach. You can sign up for two courses at a time with Sophia. Today I sent in my transcripts to WGU before seeing this video. Should I back out if I'm accepted, then utilize your techniques before applying again? How did you know the degree program courses without being officially a student?
Hello, and thanks for checking out my video. If you look in the description of this video, you'll see some links to the WGU patners page. That's where you can find information on the courses ahead of time. As to your first question, I would say it "depends". If you're just getting back into school and, more specifically, online learning, then I would say start with Sophia.org and Study.com and try to get as many courses completed as possible. This will incur more costs on the front end. However, it could save you some money by preventing you from taking more than one term at WGU.

Glad I watched this. I didn’t know study charged extra for exams. So Sophia doesn’t charge for the proctored exams?
Correct. There are no additional fees for Sophia as it relates to taking exams. You simply pay the monthly fee and take as many courses as you can before the next month/billing cycle.
Even better, they don’t charge for their unproctored exams and there are no proctored ones
@@TheAwesomeness1123is all Sofia exams are unproctored? And also are their a lot of quizzes and essays?

Sophia didn’t have all the courses I need to get my bachelor degree
Yeah I wish Sophoa had more to offer.

Excellent video
I don't believe that either program (Study.com OR Sophia) offers financial aid. However, it's worth exploring.

Great content. So you can not take Sophia/study courses after you're already enrolled In WGU?
That is correct. I mean technically you can take the courses, they just won't count toward the program that you are currently enrolled in.
It's best to take all of the courses that you need by using my spreadsheet or the WGU pathways, and then once those are complete, you can begin the enrollment process with WGU. That way you are feeling rushed to get everything completed before the transfer cut-off deadline.
@@tehczavier I had to push back my start date to do just that. I'm glad I watched your video before my start date. Thanks

Hello,
Things are going well. Thank you for stopping by the channel Please let me know if you have any questions.
I already enrolled and can’t do Sophia unless I push back my enrollment and I don’t want to do that.
I have a link to a spreadsheet that shows the General Ed class transfer courses.
The link is available in the description 🙂.
@@tehczavier thank you! And what if I transfer to a college that is not partnered with Sophia but they do accept Sophia credits for transfer. When the credits transfer do my transcripts state Sophia credits or do the credits turn into units?

I had some rude counselors from WGU seems like they dont want to give information.
Yeah I had that experience with the counselors/reps from the school of IT. However, after I made the switch to the college of business, I was fortunate to be placed with my counselor who went, and continues to go above and beyond to help me reach my goals.
Great!!!

How many Semester hours did you get ? I’m doing this to help me max out points for my promotion for the army
Thank you fornthe question, and be sure to check the spreadsheet link in the description.
In total, I earned about 45 credit/units from the 18 courses that I took between Study.com and Sophia.org. Only one course didn't count and that was an accounting course.
However, in the spreadsheet that I created, you'll see the CORRECT accounting course.
Did you work a job while taking all of those classes?
Yes I did and it wasn't easy 😅.
my question is, is there a fee for the proctored exam? or is it included in the membership?
I made a video to answer the question

What BS do you think would be easier to get if I already have Sec+ and know some CySA+ material ? Really choosing between General IT or IT Management, originally wanted Cybersec, but it looks much harder
For me the IT Management one is easier and helps you better understand the big picture of IT Service Management.
amazing! thanks for posting this. im going for the same degree how many credits in total were you able to transfer in prior to enrolling? and how long did it take you to complete all the preliminary courses?
I'm happy to help. I don't remember the exact amount of credits, but I was able to transfer in 70% of the full program.
In the end, I only had 13 courses left to take at WGU once I completed the enrollment process. And I completed those 13 courses in about 3 months at WGU.
That’s amazing! I went through the course lists in Sophia to identify which classes to pair so now I am working through it thanks for the input.
Is there any penalty for completing the classes on Sophia Quickly?
@@lazperez979 not that I'm aware of.

Please should we take all the courses you've listed down below (30courses) in the spreadsheet from their various institutions and transfer them to the university before enrollment?
@@tehczavier No problem. Do you remember about how many there were for WGU total?

First thing I would recommend is go at the pace that you are comfortable with.
Then reflect on your study approach.
You can sign up for two courses at a time with Sophia. One can be only exams and quizzes and the other can be a mix of both tests and written projects.
What I did was get started on the prompts for the essays while for one class while take the exams/quizzes for another.

Great content. Does that mean you cannot continue with the lessons in the course while you are waiting for the touchstone to be graded??
Thank you checking out the video.
In some cases, yes. Which is why it's important not to enroll in two courses with touchstones at a time.
@@tehczavier So if one were to sign up for the annual twelve month time period $599 discounted sophia for college credit course plan; one is still potentially restricted to only taking and participating in two at the same time for college credit courses in the same month? As well how can you get the proctored examen done faster too?
The only fast approach is Sophia.org because the exams are open book. Wish I could offer more tips.
