I’m interested in both the carts you highlighted. I wonder how sturdy the wheels are? Always looking for different storage ideas for punches and a few heavier items I have.
@@cjoyce9459, the wheels are quite sturdy ... i load up my cart with paints and other heavy supplies and roll it across the uneven tile floor constantly.
Just what I needed! Took screenshots and noted where I could use the items. Now I can take measurements of my space BEFORE going to IKEA. It will save me a second trip to the store!!! Thank you!
I LOVE the Nissafors cart for my art supplies! It’s bigger than the rounded carts, and the corners hold more. I also use those bins and clear ones to make a bunch of compartments on it
I was at IKEA today picking up things for my studio. My second 2 hour+ trip in April! I just moved and my new space is smaller and I am dialing in efficient new pieces with some older items. I had the Snikra in my hand but it didn’t have a tag and I didn’t realize what a value it was. I went with a second narrow Skadis and more accessories. I do like the Kallax for holding my bins of quilting fabrics. I also picked up a Mosslanda shelf for my smaller rulers.
Me too! Finally got one in Columbus, Oh 10 mi from me then we moved to Az and it’s over 100 mi away!! Curses, foiled again😛. Also love the Alex drawers and their counter top for a custom desk.
I bought the Ovning cart for my craft corner - I saw it in a magazine and looked for it last time I was in the store. It is very nice especially the top tray-like area - great for items I reach for often. Bonus points for the metal top that can accommodate magnetic hooks/boxes whatever. I’m a knitter/crocheter so I place my project bags in the cubbies! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the inspiration. You say that the Kallax paper inserts don't hold 12x12 papers but they do. At least in the Netherlands where I live. I do have my 12x12 cardstock stored in them and they fit perfectly.
The Ivar drop down desk unit, as long as it will fit, would be excellent in my soon to be craft room which is my second bedroom. Not a lot of space. For shelving I bought garage shelving which looks really good along one wall and in each wardrobe but I will have the Ikea gate leg table (I can't remember what it is called) to save space when not in use and a Billy bookcase in the living room. That new trolley, Nisafors, with lower sides looks good as well, more useful for my Ashford E-Spinner. I know I will need to make sure I don't get carried away buying too much! Thank you!
I have the new green and white rolling cart (nissafors?) and I'm IN LOVE!! The top area holds my big shot, paper trimmer, and cropidile, I have flat slide-in storage on the shorter storage, and the taller cubby has my 12x12 paper pads standing on end - perfect size! Also love that the mesh area is the same as their peg boards for hanging cups and hooks. It's actually my first dedicated crafting storage and I couldn't be happier.
Hi Elisa, I completely agree with you on utilizing vertical areas to maximize storage space so I like the newer squared bulletin board and some of the wall shelves too. I also love the picture ledges. I want to get a craft cart and was considering looking at JoAnn and at Michael’s so thank you for pointing out what IKEA has to offer. I haven’t been to IKEA in several years so I really need to take a day and go check them out. Thanks for your tips and assessments of IKEA pieces as they can be used or adapted to use in a craft space.
I recently saw a hack using 2 Ovning carts. They were placed back to back then a very large cutting mat secured on the top. It made a really good work station and can be moved wherever it's needed.
6:26 Yes, removing from sight all those pretties, especially the good scissors...Lockable would be a nice touch. Just saw very recently somewhere, someone had bought two larger than normal cutting boards from Ikea, which would fit over a regular sized stove top to increase food preparation area. If that were an issue, and nothing to do with craft rooms, unless you needed to use your kitchen for certain craft of course.
I bought two of those Ovning carts a few months ago and I love them. They are heavy to push about but hold so much . Its a pity there are no shelves, drawers, doors for the unit like as for the Kallex . I customized mine by attached an ikea pegboard easily to one side. The main compartments are exactly A4 size and as I found it difficult to reach stuff at the back I put an A4 piece of ply wood onto sliders ( white plastic stick on from Temu ) so it now slided the contents out easily. I also felt that a couple of drawers were needed and A4 boxes from the range fit perfectly although to stack them a little thought is needed as there needs to be a little gap if your fitting two on top of each other. I covered the fronts of the boxes in a sage green floral print, printed on my computer on 120g paper , stuck to the front and sides and finally covered with clear contact. Just the handles to go on the drawers and a couple of knobs on the slid outs.
I am using the Kallas unit BUT I do love the add on shelves to maximize the space. I love that it’s so easy to slide them on so I can move them to them easier for me to use the unit.
I think I could make good use of the Nereby “shelves,” using the hanging hooks to hang some of my favorite stencils where I can easily see and grab them.
LOVE your Ikea videos -- thanks for taking us along! You have taught me well about thinking outside the box: Does the top dowel in the Nereby shelf come out after it is mounted? If it does, you could store washi tape on it! 😁
Great video! I’ve been to Ikea once to look, then ordered my kallax units online. I need more! The new cart is very appealing among the other new items. Thanks for posting!🙏🏻👍🏼👏🏻💖
I wish I had an IKEA closer to me. When my boys were little, we purchased two TROFAST units and bins. Well they have grown up and I am using one of them in my craft area! So it was a FREE upgrade for me 😊there is still one unit and we are working on cleaning it out and then maybe I will repurpose that one too. 😁
I love the Ovning cart. I bought it for my serger and supplies for it. It's the perfect hight and it fits into my space perfectly. I love all the things you have highlighted from Ikea. I need to go and organize some new areas. Thanks
Thank you for the video! I love the Snickra grid and the Nisafors cart. I love the idea of the lower sides to the cart and will definitely be checking it out. I've used the picture ledges in a previous craft room for all my rolls of ribbon. It looked pretty and made my ribbon much more accessible! My husband made "ends" to the end of each ledge so the ribbon didn't fall off.
I love the Ivar system, one thing no one ever seems to mention is that as it is made from line wood it is a lot lighter in weight than particle board and mdf. Plus it is easy to screw on accessories. It has also got a lot of steel shelves and cupboards which are useful if you want to attach magnetic items.
Thanks for the tour. I love IKEA. Don't have an IKEA store close by but I need to find one. We have a shop similar which has some things that are helpful but IKEA is one I love.
Honestly, even with the cost of wood the Norberg desk could be made with the fold up table. The only problem would be as the desk currently is it hides the supports when down. Folding up would leave them exposed, or require a different hidden support.
Am sitting in my craft room looking at my metal pegboard and gray shelves from IKEA. I started looking online, making a list then going to the store to see them.
I have never been to an IKEA store because I don’t live all that close to one but will be traveling soon and plan to go to one. My question is, though, does anyone know whether or not they will ship things like bookshelves?
She doesn’t like the big cubes or big bins put in them because stuff isn’t organized, just all piled in there and it gets expensive to add inserts, if I remember correctly. (But of course there are tons of inserts by Ikea and other companies so there’s no need to just have a big open bin.)
I don't really like the inflexibility of the shelves, and tend to think that when you use the big square bins, most things end up in a "black hole" of sorts. I do know that there are lots of options for organizing within the cubes, I just happen to think bookshelves like the Billy Bookcase system provide you with more options.
@@ScrappyWife I love Billy too - but the shelves can sag unless they’ve fixed it. But I also love Expedit (almost the same as Kallax) and have a 2x4 on casters so the entire top is like a counter - a surface for my printer, a lamp and other items. I only have one open bin in the 8 cubes. The rest are divided into 4 sections (like a cross hatch), shelves for paper, drawer units that can fit inside or sit on top of a table, etc. So versatile.
@@ScrappyWifethere’s a huge amount of flexibility, probably more than with a standard bookshelf. : ) Not sure why you’re so focused on big square bins. That’s like saying a Billy bookcase isn’t any good because it doesn’t come with book ends. No one has to have big square bins with the dozens (hundreds?) of options to divide up the cubes to individualize them, beyond what Ikea offers, though Ikea is creating more and more inserts. Paper dividers, dividers to partition cubes into four small cubes (love the one for my laminator, rolls of various stuff, some longish tools), chipboard or cardboard drawer units that can be put on a table, permanent drawers, even a bin designed as a cat bed. Confession: I have one large bin. I have an old sweatshirt and an massively oversized t-shirt in it that’s used like a smock.
That Norberg wall mount drop desk: RUclipsrs have made them and had a mirror on it so when it is closed, all you see is the mirror. It hides the shelves this way too. If anyone is interested, just search youtube for them. Some look easy to make but I have not done it.
Maybe trying wrapping your ribbon around flat boards instead of on the spools. Then you can organize it like "files" in a drawer to be easy to flip through your options.
That video just left me in a panic attack. Too much. I don't think I am an IKEA type shopper. I love so much of what you showed in the video, but I couldn't possibly figure out what I would need. I just need someone to design a room for me, go to IKEA, buy it and install it. I'm much too nervous for this task.
I love that you can take your time to make plans online, maybe even draw out your space and make a shopping list before going to IKEA. The store can be overwhelming for sure!
So many things I have and love in my craft room!!! And FYI the paper insert for the Kallax does in fact store 12x12 now. ❤❤❤
Do they really?!? Wow!
Thanks for posting, l need to get a couple!
I’m interested in both the carts you highlighted. I wonder how sturdy the wheels are? Always looking for different storage ideas for punches and a few heavier items I have.

Yes! Definitely take all the possible measurements with you, maybe even with a list of items!
I bought the Nissafors cart in black for my art supplies. The cart was easy to put together and is just right for all the supplies.
So good to hear!
I LOVE the Nissafors cart for my art supplies! It’s bigger than the rounded carts, and the corners hold more. I also use those bins and clear ones to make a bunch of compartments on it

I used to live near 3 IKEA stores. Now, the nearest is 4 hours away. However, I am grateful that they ship most items.
Thankful for that!

Yup, I was definitely mistaken.
The paper insert for the Kallax unit does hold 12x12. And it’s fabulous.
Awesome!
Thanks for sharing. IKEA gives me anxiety but “traveling” through the store with you and no one else was great. Good ideas!
Yup, you aren't the only one that gets anxiety with IKEA. It's nice to kind of plan out your visit in advance by watching videos like this.
It is a little sensory overload there.

Great review!
ÖVNING is the name of the cart I have (sorry, just realizing my mistake!) But even a month later I'm still loving it!
I discovered the Ivar shelves a few years ago --- perfect to hold my stamp sets in containers!!! Perfect width!
Perfect! It is always great when you are able to come across those perfect storage solutions.
Everytime i visit Ikea, i want to move in!! Thanks for the tour!!
You are very welcome - thanks for coming along!
Ikea prices have literally doubled in the past couple of years. What used to be an inexpensive option for storage is not so much anymore.
They are actually in the process of rolling prices back right now.
It’s the same with everything else in life. Ikea is no exception. Still te best store ever!
I recently saw a video where someone said you have to "invest" in your organization. But let's do what we can afford.
Hi Elisa,
I completely agree with you on utilizing vertical areas to maximize storage space so I like the newer squared bulletin board and some of the wall shelves too. I also love the picture ledges. I want to get a craft cart and was considering looking at JoAnn and at Michael’s so thank you for pointing out what IKEA has to offer. Very interesting!
Depending on how deep the Hemnes wall shelf is, it may be a good fit for behind a door.
Good point!
The paper insert for Kallax does hold 12x12 paper. And many other companies sell so many types of inserts too, at many price points!
Good to know!

Vattenkar works great for my 12x12 paper and craft supplies. Not mentioned in the video. I use plastic cutting sheets to separate and label.
Awesome tip!

Right!?!

Have fun!

Sweet! I hope this gave you some ideas. And I love that you are making a list ahead of time, because IKEA can be so overwhelming.
Enjoyed your video very much. I like the look of that fold down desk. I’m going to IKEA very soon to look for a small desk.
Check it out when you are there - I do think that it would work so well.
Can’t wait to check out the Palycke under shelf pieces! Great video.
Thanks so much!
I love it all! I have my space by IKEA and love it! I always want new boxes that is my jam!
IKEA is just so functional for a craft space!
Ivars are so useful we’ve used them over the years for allsorts
Nice!
FYI I have the paper inserts for the kallax and it DOES fit 12x12 paper
Good to know!
I have never been to an IKEA store because I don’t live all that close to one but will be traveling soon and plan to go to one. My question is, though, does anyone know whether or not they will ship things like bookshelves?
Yes, my nearest store ships if the total is over $50 and not really big (but too big to fit in my car). I think you can get the info on line.
They will sometimes, depending on where you live. You actually can go on your website and put in your zip code to check it out.
I love the Snikra. I’m going to pick up a couple of those
Nice!
My Kallax insert stores 12x12 paper
I was also going to mention that.
Good to know!
I like the new rolling cart.
Me too!
Can you let us know why the Kallax is not one of your favorites. Thanks!

I am also a crafty Elisa hello from Texas love Ikea finds and ideas
Welcome!
just an FYI my Kallax unit holds my 12x12 paper...not sure if they;ve changed it???
That is good to know!
I would like to live in an IKEA store. lol The low sided cart sounds more user friendly.
I really think it might be. I'm actually thinking of going to get one myself.
It would be good to see how you use ikea storage .
You should definitely check out my craft room tour then...you'll see a lot of it in there :)
I have a lot of ribbon different sizes no wall space any ideas please

thank you there lots of great things at ikea
Thanks for watching!
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Hello!
love it need to visit IKEA
They are so fun to visit!
I purchased 2 of those carts
Awesome!
The paper shelves DO fit 12x12 paper.
Good to know!

Definitely the Snickra grid system.
yes!
Cannot afford ikea. It’s would be nice, but not affordable to me…
Totally get that - sometimes you can find these pieces in thrift stores as well.

Just a tip for next time edit out all the gootage of the floor.🤢
I kind of like it :). But, you can always fast forward 👍🏻
