This song gives me the feeling of accepting that I’m different and that’s ok! Everyone has a different style and that I should accept mine and discard the criticism I receive for my outfits and dislike for makeup. Even though my siblings are prettier I’m still pretty in my own way. We all just gotta accept ourselves and I like how to me that’s what this song conveyed. So just like her I’m gonna try and stop letting bad comments in day to day life get me down and focus on how I feel about myself and what I wear there not wearing it I am.

Don't get me wrong, I love this cover and the lyrics! But! I feel like the way it was written changes the meaning of the song. Of course, not in a bad way and not THAT much. But as I listened to the original afterwards (first time looking at its lyrics too), the main character didn't sound the same. So I'm sharing how it sounded to me haha. Here's what I mean: here she sounds a bit self-conceited, she knows she's cute, and she knows people will dislike her for it so she doesn't hesitate to throw it into their faces ("sorry for being such a cute pest 🥺", "sorry I'm so cute [and you are not]") While she does do this in the original, it wasn't in a "I know I'm cuter than you and I shall rub it into your jealousy-green face" way but in a "I may not look mainstream/"normal" but I think I look real cute" way. It's a way to defend herself from hateful, judgemental people and put them into their places. Of course, she still genuinely finds herself cute and is by no means insecure. It's just that the "they look down on me because I'm not mainstream" message didn't come through to me the first time. That's just me obviously but I found it interesting enough to share how different translations can be and transform something in small ways. That said, again, it's not a bad thing. Just wanted to share. Also I hope this cover becomes a trendy sound and its own (animation) trend! It'd be pretty cool (Also it took me too long than I'd like to get that the "cute"/kawaii refers to kawaii fashion which is what she likes and thus why people criticize her and not just to her looking good. It's totally on me because I was too focused on my first interpretation to notice that she is cute and into cute fashion)

But as I listened to the original afterwards (first time looking at its lyrics too), the main character didn't sound the same. So I'm sharing how it sounded to me haha. Here's what I mean: here she sounds a bit self-conceited, she knows she's cute, and she knows people will dislike her for it so she doesn't hesitate to throw it into their faces ("sorry for being such a cute pest 🥺", "sorry I'm so cute [and you are not]")
While she does do this in the original, it wasn't in a "I know I'm cuter than you and I shall rub it into your jealousy-green face" way but in a "I may not look mainstream/"normal" but I think I look real cute" way. It's a way to defend herself from hateful, judgemental people and put them into their places. Of course, she still genuinely finds herself cute and is by no means insecure. It's just that the "they look down on me because I'm not mainstream" message didn't come through to me the first time. That's just me obviously but I found it interesting enough to share how different translations can be and transform something in small ways. That said, again, it's not a bad thing. Just wanted to share. Also I hope this cover becomes a trendy sound and its own (animation) trend! It'd be pretty cool
(Also it took me too long than I'd like to get that the "cute"/kawaii refers to kawaii fashion which is what she likes and thus why people criticize her and not just to her looking good. It's totally on me because I was too focused on my first interpretation to notice that she is cute and into cute fashion)
