Simon these videos are very inspiring, you are an amazing mentor. I hope to be as knowledgeable as you some day! I am a 5th year commercial electrician.
Nice work. I’ve had to do a handful of services like this to refeed pole lights and other remote equipment. To bring the HDPE into the panel I’ve started just sleeving it with a long sweep 90 and strait piece. I don’t even bother transitioning. And FYI no matter how much glue you use, pvc and hdpe will not bond. You need to use a mechanical connector, they basically work like shark bite
Was taught whenevet possible to tighten the nut rather then the bolt head. Bolt & screws often get body bound in holes. Some times easier & faster in these situations to only mount the top piece of strut then secure box to bottom strut then level & secure bottom strut.
I am surprised that they allow the zinc/chrome hardware, and not want the full hot dipped galvanized hardware for the uni-strut. Keep up the good work guys! 🤠👍
Hello there ! I know i am just one from all 68 200 subscribers but I like the longer videos where we see the complete job, that is very nice and thank you very much !!!!!!!!!!! I appreciate it but I also know that is more work maybe in editing...Also, have good Holidays, I am form Canada and I see all your videos, even the ones in storms or hurricanes, thanks !!!!!!
May I suggest copious amount of locktite for hardware. Blue for keeping things where they need to be. Red for power tools needed. Unless you can get your hands on GM yellow. Then it will never come loose.
You should invest in fiberglass probing sticks if you are going to bid work like this. The company I work for in South Carolina had them doing waste water treatment plant addition. Lots of irrigation pipes not marked on the print.
Like always sir great work. I searched comments and found nothing of directional boring. How much was that if I may ask? Looking to bid on jobs like this soon. Many blessings.
Funny to see that do you have an underground cable outside, I have had thinking this is forbidden in your country, I see at every place in your country that you put cable in high only. 😂
Only area inspectors want expansion joints for every PVC conduit rising out of the ground. More for ground settlement then expansion /contraction problem. More then once have seen a 2" PVC conduit that feed a metr can 30" off the ground pull out of the male adapter pulling unfused utility wire out of lugs. ( Fused on 13,200 high voltage side of utility transformer ).
I mentioned in the video that we will have to come back to sit for inspection, and while we are waiting, we leave the ground rods and bridge to give us something to do while we wait
Okay you did NOT tighten those strut straps down enough. That shit is gonna fall apart overtime. Stop using a screwdriver to tighten it. Get yourself a ratcheting wrench and a pair of channel locks. Other than that looks nice and lined up. I feel like the Florida weather is gonna destroy that pvc, but what can you do right?
@@Simonelectricfl Sir I respect your craft, but those bolts would snap before you strip anything out. You can feel it by hand when you use a dog bone to tighten it. It doesn't even have to be locked down all the way. But i was doing underground setting up strut racks similar to that with conduit sticking up. I used a screw driver and my lineman's to hold the nut. I hand tighten everything until i couldn't. It just wasn't tight enough. After coming back after a couple weeks half of the racks I set up were loose. luckily they were all temps for a concrete poor. But after buying a ratcheting wrench I'm not going back.
That kind of work is why I love the Electrical industry. Great video. Keep posting and we'll keep watching.
The panel install looks great and the narration and conversation among you three made it even better.
Glad you liked the panel install and the conversation!
I love it when you do long form content. Great work.

They sell unistrut caps to put on the end of strut, so you don’t cut yourself. I order those all the time and use them on strut a lot.
Thats a good idea
I have used them before

Why the f do u need lock tite on any of that it will never come loose after a year of corrosion.. no electrican uses lock tite on stuff like this lol
Good job🎉
Thanks!!
Sir you do beautiful work and I wish I worked for you haha
Thank you for that compliment! Send an app if you are in the area.

Great point

Thanks!

No we do both most new installs are below grade
Great job guys! How long does that camera go?
300 feet I believe. Although I have only had to use 143
PVC expansion couplings not needed/required where you are?
No, it is not necessary. There is not enough temperature differential to require installation.

Any idea about what was obstructing the pipe?
Where can I buy that shovel?
This one was made in a michine shop years ago
It's essentially knife grade steel, and it is sharp at the edge and thick as it tapers back probably 3/8" at the thick part.

Make sure you’re wearing hats to protect your skin when outside. The sun is also bad on your eyes.
Good point
His guys got good tans no worries
cool video.one question, how is this service grounded?
I mentioned in the video that we will have to come back to sit for inspection, and while we are waiting, we leave the ground rods and bridge to give us something to do while we wait
@@Simonelectricflwhat if u don't get done doing that before the inspector gets there lol
I gotta watch this is because this is what I used to do and loved it. This is my punishment for being so stupid.

The nuts would strip if we went any tighter.
