Ryan Shirley Yeah it’s up there!!! I cycled through Finnish Lapland to Tromso last summer as well, and did Lofoten the summer before that. Amazing regions. Faroe was on list for September until covid showed up!!!
You should visit the west coast of Sweden in the summer. Go on a roadtrip from Oslo to Copenhagen or take the train. You will find many beautiful and nice places, cities, beaches along the coasts roads.
I should say Denmark and Sweden always underrated in this list. Sweden have Österlen, Halland, Gotland, Abisko, Höga kusten, Västkusten, Sarek. Much of White sand beach around whole Swedish Coast. Sweden also have Northern Light and Midnight sun. Vänern and Vättern many big lakes also.
Can you suggest some good b&b, cab/taxi companies, northern lights tour companies in Tromso/lofoten. I am visiting from India in november hoping to see the northern lights and it will be very helpful. Thank you
A colleague of mine went to "the Pulpit" this summer... There was misty fog clouds below, blue skies above, the fjord (in between the clouds) was perfectly still, like a mirror... It looked like the mountains were just floating in the sky! 🤩 I'm so jealous 🤣
Great video! However visit Helsinki in the summer instead of christmas. Helsinki really is a summer city with great outdoor life, food and festivals during the summer.
Helsinki (apart from some distinct blocks) is positively one of the ugliest capitals I have ever seen, if not the ugliest (and I am a Finn) - if you want to see beautiful parts of Finland, I suggest the west coast and archipelago, the lake region in Carelia/Savo, and Lapland.
You should visit southern Sweden and Denmark. They are very different to the northern landscapes. The Islands of Gotland, Öland and Bornholm (Danish) are definitely worth a visit! In my home county Skåne you have beautiful dramatic landscapes in the northern part of Höganäs and Söderåsen. The costal towns of Österlen are beautiful with some of the most perfect white sandy beaches that look almost tropical.

As a Norwegian i can tell you its expensive here, but again its not as expensive as some people will have you belive. You can easely find some pretty cheap housing aswell as buying groceries at the store instead of eating out for example.
Visiting Iceland was amazing - I haven’t been to the other Skandinavien countries - but now I so so want to go 😍😍 this video is amazing- you really have the best drone shots I’ve ever seen 👍🏻
Although I see this has been mentioned to no end, I just have to say it. As a norwegian I do not like seeing Denmark being left out in a video about scandinavia. You've also included two non-scandinavian countries. O_O It's a nice video in many ways, but you should probably do a little bit more research on the parts of the world you travel to if you're going to make videos about them. It's especially jarring when the rest of your video is so great!
Can't wait to go to Scandinavia. We had plans to visit a few countries in Scandinavia but sadly had to cancel the trip. Maybe in a couple years we'll be able to go and see some of the places in your video.
Know you exist?! There's an enormous amount of people ( myself included) who are incredibly jelous of the land you Norwegians live on, and look up to you as one of a few countries way of life that we should all model ourself on along with Switzerland, Iceland and Sweden 🙏
Finland is not part of Scandinavia. Scandinavia is Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Finland, along with these three and Iceland, makes up the Nordic nations.

All Nordic and Scandinavia is great to see. This is just a great video to show some of the most spectacular places. But the rest is lovely too so plan for long vacations...
Hey Pulpit Rock, that looks exactly where Season 2 of Vikings ended! It was filmed in Scandinavia so I’ll bet it was, he sat right on the edge of the squared off chunk. What a gorgeous part of the world!!
Sweden maybe hasn't got those magnificent mountains as Norway and Iceland, instead, we're known for our coastlines. For example, you should visit Höga kusten (the high coast outside of Härnösand), Stockholm's archipelago (yeah, I know Stockholm city is made up by islands but we Swedes don't really consider it to be the archipelago, we mean the thousands of islands you can visit outside of it), Österlen (known for amazing beaches and it's apple must farms) and of course västkusten (the west coast with small fishing villages like Smögen and Lysekil).
@@RyanShirley Please do! They're magnificent :) I'm from the small coastal town of Nyköping about an hour south of Stockholm and if you're ever in that area you should go to the nature reserve of Stendörren (it's made up of islands with footbridges between them) :)
I think everything you talked about was amazing. One thing in Sweden i would like to give more attention to is "Sarek national park". More wilderness than that you don't get in Europe. You can hike for days, weeks even without seeing anyone else. Google "rapa valley". Most beautiful place I ever saw.
Beautiful photos! Lovely to hear that you enjoy the north so much! One more point to make is that Lapland also is in Sweden and is actually Sapmi which is the Indigenous Sami folks land in the north of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia. The so called Santa Claus is in actuallitie a seberian or Sami Shaman. Earth is a beautifull place. peace to you all
While Ireland isn’t in Scandinavia, it’s pretty near by and worth visiting when travelling returns to normal. Quite like Scotland, yet slightly less dramatic inland, it’s even greener and has some amazing cliffs and costal formations to the west. Dublin is beautiful full of old red brick buildings and attractions and towns like Galway are great cultural hotspots. The turbulent history of the north is tragic yet fascinating and with Viking and norman settlements everywhere, it has so much history, great cities and towns and some beautiful countryside.
@@RyanShirley I am from Mumbai, India. I wish I could go to these beautiful places one day with my family...thx a lot for such a beautiful video...keep Shining !!!
@Ryan Shirley Thank you for uploading this video. I could sit in India and take in the splendour of Scandinavia! The Aurora Borealis was a treat. Be well.
Ryan Shirley I’m from Seattle but 2 of my grandparents were born and raised in Sweden in the 1880s. My grandma used to speak of snow skiing in the Laplands in the North part of Sweden as a way of transportation, so as I watched your video I thought of her.
Really interesting that people here are debating about the definition of scandinavia- while not commenting the actual video, -wich is stunning. I'm from Finland and I learnt in school that we belong to Scandinavia, ask any finn, I believe you get the same answer. So, the debate here is Finland part of scandinavia was a bit surprizing :D ...well, then I laugh and I thought next you probably think we have icebears. Think and believe what you want, peace and love.
Great video! As you probably noticed the word Foss comes up a lot in the end of words when you travel in Iceland or Scandinavia and it means waterfall. Kirkjufellsfoss is the name of the waterfall nearby, and Kirkjufell (fell or fjall means mountain) is the name of the mountain itself:)
"In English usage, Scandinavia also sometimes refers more narrowly to the Scandinavian Peninsula, or more broadly so as to include the Åland Islands, the Faroe Islands, Finland and Iceland." by Wikipedia
@@RyanShirley Since you say that you have spent the last few summers exploring Europe's nordic countries, it's a bit sad you didn't ask any locals about this as it is important for them to distinguish Scandinavia from the Nordics. They would happily have cleared up any uncertainties you might have about the difference between Scandinavia and the Nordics. If you rely on Wikipedia instead of talking to the locals, check the Danish, Finish, Faroese, Norwegian or Swedish page instead, and maybe you understand the difference between the Nordics and Scandinavia.
A place I would say is often looked over is Langfossen, epic waterfall, and you can hike up it for an equally epic view. The hike itself isn't even that long, though a bit steep maybe, and about halfway up it you can go right out to the waterfall itself. Would deifnitely recommend that to anyone going near that area, Åkrafjorden.
Northern Europe also includes the Baltic States (Estonia - Latvia - Lithuania) so that is also not correct. We, the people that live in the countries that are mentioned call ourselves Nordic in English ;)

Fantastic footages! But remember that many thourists are being rescued down from the mountains every year. These operations are expensive and dangerous. If you do not know how to prepare a hard and steep hike in rough nature, the mountains in Norway is not for you!
True! A lot of tourists come underprepared to go hiking or skiing. Lives are lost to this, which is awful and unnecessary.
Rode down the hairpins at Lysebotn on my bike a few summers back at sunset. Hell of an experience.
I can’t even imagine!! That must have been incredible
Ryan Shirley Yeah it’s up there!!! I cycled through Finnish Lapland to Tromso last summer as well, and did Lofoten the summer before that. Amazing regions. Faroe was on list for September until covid showed up!!!
As a Dane i fell left out. There is some great locations in Denmark as well. Still a beatifull video❤️
I regret not talking more about Denmark! I just really haven’t been there. But I’ll have to make a part 2 :)

I have only been to Iceland and I was so mesmerised by the beautiful landscapes!

Going to Finland and missing Turku and the archipelago?

Finland is not part of Scandinavia. Scandinavia is Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Finland, along with these three and Iceland, makes up the Nordic nations.
/Wikipedia

Sweden maybe hasn't got those magnificent mountains as Norway and Iceland, instead, we're known for our coastlines. For example, you should visit Höga kusten (the high coast outside of Härnösand), Stockholm's archipelago (yeah, I know Stockholm city is made up by islands but we Swedes don't really consider it to be the archipelago, we mean the thousands of islands you can visit outside of it), Österlen (known for amazing beaches and it's apple must farms) and of course västkusten (the west coast with small fishing villages like Smögen and Lysekil).
Wow, I didn’t know any of those places besides of Stockholm, I really want to visit them now! What part of Sweden you from?
@@RyanShirley Please do! They're magnificent :) I'm from the small coastal town of Nyköping about an hour south of Stockholm and if you're ever in that area you should go to the nature reserve of Stendörren (it's made up of islands with footbridges between them) :)

If you rely on Wikipedia instead of talking to the locals, check the Danish, Finish, Faroese, Norwegian or Swedish page instead, and maybe you understand the difference between the Nordics and Scandinavia.
