Much respect Mark and well done. Keep the good work up. Youngsters take note. Been down that road myself. And be proud for talking about it, that takes guts. Well done. Enjoy the rest of your life.your a winner every way. Much respect and best wishes always. Bobz. And the k.v. boys.
Congratulations on 2 years of an alcohol-free life! I’ve been alcohol-free for 3 years now, and I can honestly say it’s been amazing-my health, skin, and overall well-being have improved so much. Keep it up, you’re inspiring! You are proper sportsman!
Drinking is not for everyone especially athletes like yourself m8 spent my best years pissing it away glad you have seen the light great video true dog / gentlemen ❤
Well said Mark. What I loved the most here is your absolute honesty and being so open and realisation that your home life was suffering and you manned up and made a decision. Well done. Ps. I love Ronnie..he really is the dead spit of you !!!
Well done Jeffers. Should talk about your running experience - being able to run a sub 20min 5K is definitely not a causal thing most people can do. When did you start running and how do you train?
Quality video Mark. I've been sober 2 years 5 months to date. Never had no 'real' problem but I had a son and wanted to lead by example. Stay off the booze and in the gym boys 👊🏻
Good on you Mark, it takes real strength to make decisions like that, anyone can hit the booze it's so easy but to make positive decisions sometimes against peer pressure shows real character.
Much respect mate. I got sober at 21 for much the same reasons and its the best thing i ever did. Well done for addressing this early and young. You've give yourself the best opportunity to succeed in life with all your goals and are setting a fantastic example to your family and others. Keep up the good work 👏👏👏
Inspiring stuff pal, congrats on 2 years. All the same things apply to me, drinks not the problem I am can't take it or leave it so I just can't have a drink. Sober year this one, easy
Thanks for sharing that Mark, sounds like it's the right decision for you. I was sober for nearly 6 years, but in 2024 I started drinking again. I didn't have a problem beforehand but I've always struggled with control in general, mostly with food. Now I just have the odd shandy when I'm out or the very occasional beer, I try not to make it a "reward" and I'm lucky in that I don't feel the need to drink to excess. I feel that this helps me exercise my control rather than being T-total. Getting a banging headaches the morning after 2 shandies confirms that drinking properly still isn't for me :)
Amazing achievement big dog. You should be super proud of that. Lots of dedication required to stick to that. Lots of rewards and wins coming your way this year 👊
Mark, I feel you. I am an asshole when I’ve had a drink. I have started to cut it out and actually love waking up fresh and not having the fear after a night out. It is doing wonders for my fitness as well. At least you have recognised that it’s working for you 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 great work
Fair play for doing what you have. And for talking about it. And, was that a "Tool, Anima" t shirt in the old clip? Fair play on yer music taste.. Good luck with the boxing career and sobriety. 🥊
@@markjeffers1 yeah fair play to you. I struggle with the booze, in a different way, but it doesn't help me. Talking about it does help! Yeah the t shirt you are wearing at 5:19 in the video, where you had ya last drink. Anyway, who cares lol. Good luck with your next fight!
For a professional athlete like yourself I think it's absolutely a must do these days to achieve anything. I can relate myself being a runner where waking up on a Sunday the last thing you want to do is go on a 15 mile run while hungover. It has a snowball effect as well whereby you arnt drinking which means you can cut out the other substances easily which leads to better/more consistent sleep and eating more healthy. All positives and better role models for our children.
I used to have the same problem with losing money out on the sauce. I remember my old man saying to me “there’s no way you’ve spent £100 on drink” I changed all my notes to fivers and realised that I was getting short changed when I was drunk. I don’t drink now saved a fortune and get to spend that time and money with my family.
Nice video and quitting the drink definitely helps with fitness and mental clarity! My own running and fitness improves rapidly when I abstain for a few weeks/months - I suffer from very bad hangovers so have cut down massively! Do you think with having a relationship and now a child will give you a lot of focus and help with the temptations of the booze?! If you were a single bloke do you think it would be harder to be sober? Also do you still go out socially? I struggle to have a soft drink if I do 😂 so always end up having a pint 🍺
Thank you mate and Yh I get what ya mean🤣hmm probz does help to be fair have mrs and kid for sure, Yh still go out pub out time n all that I’m not fussed now but for first 3 months I didn’t trust meself coz I know what would of happened
@ yeah I get what you mean, after a few months of not going out you don’t really miss it that much I agree and you see who your real pals are if you get me. Keep up the vids and the training and maybe a world champ in the future! I struggle staying off the booze when I’m injured, got a sore Achilles at the minute so can’t really run but can do a bit in the gym.
Well done. I found that if there was beer in the house I'd be tempted to drink it. So I've stopped buying it and I've switched to non alcohol beers. I think I'll stop completely at some point, possibly sooner rather than later.
U some fighter pal i wud love to see u fight callum simpson from yorkshire mental strenth is the key keepin busy life. Great wifout substance wen u out nxt
