Thanx so very much for sharing, Silver Screen!
Another wonderful little gem!
Always fun to watch the Masters at work. 😊 👍 💕
Arbuckle, & Buster Keaton were incredible athletes.
Brilliant comedy!
The physical comedy is great!
Love the part when fatty cuts the gentleman's hair!
That was a real horse-drawn streetcar. It went to the Traveltown museum, where, sadly, it decayed into matchsticks and was thrown away.
A comedy classic!
Buster smiling at 3:44 !
Such beautifully-shaped, sturdy high heels back then -WHY did they, would they, ever go out of style?
Always enjoy seeing the dusty, dirt roads of yesteryear before paving was a thing.
And a horse-drawn elevator, whooda thunk?? That barber skit was hilarious!
I'm sorry to say, but Arbuckle's films were a lot tighter & funnier w/o Mabel Normand
That's because Mabel was the main protagonist -- the Star -- while Arbuckle was still treated as a co-protagonist. The basic script/story of those Keystone comedies, was usually altered by Mabel during the filming and editing, everything had to be approved by her, that was something Sennett always allowed as part of her contract. But when Arbuckle gained his status as a Star, he went solo as the main protagonist, with Buster Keaton as co-protagonist and he wrote, did all his stunts and directed his movies. Those are his best films.
@@silverscreenfilmotheque9071 How interesting! THX for your reply -- did not realize this, yet a fan of early film history. Somehow I assumed it was Arbuckle's film & Mabel was along for the ride. Thank you for clarifying.. And yes, Roscoe did do his best work later on, without Mabel. Though I appreciate she was instrumental in Chaplin's career as well.
She starred in "Mickey," one of the most profitable movies of the silent era. Theater owners called it "the mortgage buster."
