The only thing that can replace an A-10 is ANOTHER A-10.
Steve Thompson the truest statement I've ever seen on the internet
Is an A10-c
drones, dude, drones.
i LOVE the sound of A-10s
Hi Jack
Jack you a Aviation guy too??
you’re into aviation too ???
Aye if you'd like I can get you in contact with this pilot! I'm friends with him and have traded patches with him!
Me boy like the brrt
Hope they never retire the a-10
VolDep45 I feel like the F-35 doesn't necessarily replace the A-10. Maybe they thought they don't need the A-10 anymore.
Which is a weird thought.
VolDep45
of course its not. Its almost disturbing that they think they won't need have anymore A-10-only suitable CAS missions. I mean why else would retire the A-10?
I have a feeling its probably along the pretext of "in the battlefields of the future, where air defenses are tight the A-10 would not be able to survive and carry on its mission."
VolDep45 That's called Capitalism. Making money no matter what.
+VolDep45 F-35--tin-can plane 1 bullet or missile --man down!!--- A-10 built like a TANK!!! its that simple!!!
+rear speaker a10 will excel if we go to war with isis

I met a young man today that gave me the link to this video.. He said " you have got to watch this video" .I was like okay I`ll watch it. Then he started telling me about this pilot . Some guy that went by the name of "Habu" that he had spoken to on more than one occasion . He was so enthusiastic that I couldnt ignore him. While it pains me to say this, after watching this pilot I felt a sense of pride that I had somehow not felt in years. American pride! Mr Thorpe if you read this post I`m sure you will recognize the young mans call sign "ChillyWillie" . To Mr. Dylan "Habu" Thorpe . Thank You sir for your service to this great nation! Highest respect for you and all others that have and still do risk their very lives for this nation.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and I'm glad I could give you a sense of pride for our awesome nation that gentlemen like Habu have sacrificed to defend.
Also, I think you meant ChillyWillies :D but its all good.
Just came across this comment and in Parkville when I see them flying the A-10's are a sense of comfort and clue in to keep the inspiration. Also ran across them in Western Maryland doing reconnoitering and pop ups... With me remaining low and slow for nature photography, got the feeling a couple pilots were picking on me.
I did have a great experience with an Apache, as I got their attention and they put their gun on the print shop I wanted targeted. That lasted long enough for one to tell the other, "That was stupid."
I got great stories from every military service, except the marines and when you make eye contact, they are the hard core people. The one time they gave me permission do deal with the rest of their engineering laggards, I got to chew their A starting with, "I am walking faster then you are running!" The next day the officers ran past me laughing, but I caught that Sargent's eye... Dealt with a marine across the street and I was trying to get a rapist off the streets, and started a dossier on the guy, but forgot to take the sat and map data from it. The police asked me if I planned on doing anything and I just talked friends.
I know the house that was listed had interest and he asked me, "Don't you think a place like this could be under surveillance by us?"
"Not a problem, my new friends are Marine recon!" Message received and he was at least put in jail for a spell.
I wanted to be Navy and go into the Naval School of Photography, but the recruiter was only interested in telling me to be a man speech. My father was Navy IGY 58 and asked me what the guy said. Dad was disappointed in the Navy and not me and told me, "Mike, he had his quota and decided to dick around."
I never hesitate to tell military either serving or have served military service, "Thanks for serving," but what chokes me up is when I tell that least story is they thank me for having to have guts at least to try, "We all have our dumb A's stories." I let them know that the dumb A's never let me down and I try to serve the nation as best I can. With my life, I love the role the A-10's not only play, but still stick around. I would love a ride in that buggy!
What a monster!!!
I could not even imagine flying such a beast and having such a appreciation from the ground forces when I'm around in the area.
I SALUTE YOU SIR!!
You SAVE lives!!
"It costs $400,000 to fire this weapon for 12 seconds..."
This is a really cool video. I've seen lots of A-10 airshow videos, but nothing with this nice a mix of onboard (front-facing, back-facing) and ground point-of-view footage. Well done!
This man has to be the happiest man on earth. Its his job to fly in such a beast!
Along with all the other military BS you have to do.
Wow, the roll rate is a lot higher than I expected.
It's because the pilot is using the airbrakes, increasing the roll rate. Also it's due to the fact that they remove any unnecessary weight during these demo flights
@@hansonma9553 Thats untrue, actually. The A-10 uses its spoilers as both air/speed brakes and ailerons naturally. The pilot does nothing out of the ordinary. Also, even with a full ordnance load, the A-10's roll rate is quite impressive. It comes naturally with the straight wing design and location of the spoilers.
J'adore "m'envoyer en l'air" c'est merveilleux et les sensation que l'on ressent : être plus léger ou lourd. C'est impressionnant et grisant. Merci de me faire ces moments merveilleux. J'en fait profiter d'autres. Merci. Michel.
Merci Beaucoup à Tous !
Always loved it when these guys flew over my house. During training flights. Great free air show.
Outstanding! All I can say is - give us some more A-10 videos, please!
Write your reps and tell them to save the A-10.
(TN) Senator Bob Corker's office just wrote me an email saying I "will be pleased to know that Section 143 of the FY14 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) prohibits the use of any funds for the retirement of the A-10". Write your reps, tell them to save the Warthog!
Why would they EVENNNNN consider retiring this plane...? And don't tell me the AC-130 can do what the the A-10 does...that is nonsense !
xivjay420 The only reason the A-10 Thunderbolt II should be retired would be if they replaced it with an A-14 thunderbolt III-
the a10 is slower than its competitors, without additional weapons its max speed on optimal altitude is 750km/h, the Su25T can achieve up to 1000km/h without weapons loaded and has support for more rockets
+roteroktober420 the Su-25 doesn't have the GAU-8 and speed doesn't matter much in a CAS role
it does matter when you have to reach your target as fast as possible
I never had an issue where my CAS was hurting for speed to get to my location. usually we know ahead of time what we have on station for our mission if things go sideways. I've never once been caught in a firefight where assets were racing to my location to fill in a hole in support.
Thank you Major Thorpe for some fantastic entertainment in one of my all time favourite Planes..A-10.
haaeeeellllllllll yeeeeeaaahhhhh!!!!!! GO RIP EM UP HAWG!!!!!!!! OHHRAHHHH
I could care less if the A-10 is not a sexy plane. Isn't sleek and slippery like the F series. This plane kicks butt, it's meant to do a close up and personal mission. And our gov't the bunch of idiots that they are have deem fit to retire this beauty from service. Beautiful thing about this aircraft is that if you're on the business end of it if you can even hear it coming it's probably once second more then you'll ever have!
what ya talking about the a-10 is one of the most beautiful planes
That's what I was saying. It's beauty lays in its awkwardness.
Dave Handler No, her beauty lays in her brutal strikes =), I know first hand, id have 5 A-10s to 10 f-35s, but for air combat the F-35 is a beast.
I agree Dave. Beautiful and awkward in all the right ways. Not to mention very fucking effective!
spacemonkey1776b The F-35 is the worst jet in american airforce history, bad air-to-air fighter, bad air-to-ground aircraft.
Thanks for the great video. This was by far my favorite part of the 2011 Air Show. The Video quality and matched show commentary is the best. I hope the Air Force Demo teams will be able to come back and perform regardless of the defense budget cuts. This is such a powerful display and motivator for recruits for our armed forces.
Great video and really enjoy seeing the pilots skill. However, is there a version of this, or similar video, without music (so you can hear throttle levels) and with a view of the stick / rudder / throttle inputs so you can see how the pilot carries all of this out? Probably classified info but I would love to see what he is doing :D
HAWG
Please more of such videos. Good idea to install two camera in the cockpit. The A-10 itself is really amazing.
"Go ugly early."
13:50 Thank you, crew chiefs, maintenance, flight support, Ammo, all of y'all.
USAF Academy - Peterson AFB my favorite neightbors, follow on FlightAware just look straight out my window got Pikes Peaks as backdrop, but more fun following You guys, Keep It Up! HEHE Salutes are to You!
This is a great video of the A-10 Thunderbolt. I fell in love with this military aircraft as a kid watching it at the Airshow in Muskegon Michigan. Also had one fly low over my families farm a few years later and the pilot gave me the air wave as he made a second pass. I watched this impressive aircraft while it was performing live fire exercises overhead while we were training in South Korea. This thing really won my heart when it saved me and my fellow Marines lives in Afghanistan.
beautiful video man!! this is my dream job! thanks for upload
My favorite plane!
Just want to Update yall On HABU. He just recently had his FINI flight and has retired!
a great video of a great aircraft that despite all odds does exactly what it was designed for - shame that the top brass keep working to kill it in favour of their preferred fast and high strategy. The A10 was made for Ukraine!!
These are called SPOILERONS the are Ailerons the are actually 2 pieces. they still act as Ailerons when fully deployed... use on landing alot. the pilots dont really use them on gun runs because it slows the to much and the need all the speed they can get. They call it "ZOOM UP". put both of your hands together palm to palm.... now OPEN them but keep you wrist touching... This is a SPOILERON.... now CLOSE them.... now its an AILERON
LovesToSponge77... I am pretty sure you are talking about the throttle control that is in his hand. If so well they are the throttles that allow the pilot to determine how fast the turbines spin, additionally like a gas pedal in a car just in this case for a plane. They also have a speed brake slider on the throttle control which allows the plane to slow down without using the flaps or using the throttles.
Its hard to explain watching this.....I've only ever been in a couple of 737s and you sit in the seat and look out of the little window at the ground at 30,000 plus feet and you may just do the odd turn or climb. You look across the plane out of the window opposite you... But how narrow this is and the clear canopy from elbow to elbow must be something else to be doing this type of flying must be something else.... Love it! A10 is something else!
Yes this jet is "slow" but it's mission is to support GROUND TROOPS,the funnest think is watching it's nose mounted gatlin gun rip tanks apart, that's why it's know as the "tank buster". the A-10 is my all time favorite jet. If you get the chance check out the Air Force Museum in Dayton,OHIO!!!! OHIO-THE HEART OF IT ALL!!!
As a former USAF Crew Chief; All I can say is that the A-10 is an awesome plane. If you have the chance and know how; you can fly it's "RC" version. I had one and there's nothing like seeing and controlling the A-10 radio control plane. Of course there's no comparison...but you'll be able to grasp it's maneuverability and imagine yourself in it. Just saying.
love the sound!
Both. On most fighter aircraft the speedbrake can't be used at high speeds, but the A-10 is incredibly slow. It actually has some of the most effective speedbrakes out there due to their sheer size. At 13:50 he deploys them (there's two more on the underside of the wing you can't see).
LovesToSpooge77... I am pretty sure you are talking about the throttle control that is in his hand. If so well they are the throttles that allow the pilot to determine how fast the turbines spin, additionally like a gas pedal in a car just in this case for a plane.
Great show, I've seen it in Lethbridge AB some years ago. But I've seen these guys work when I was in Bosnia. They say your gun is a soldiers best friend but I love the view of an A-10 doing my fighting. Thanks to all these man and women flying these monsters and saving our *ss.
he has no ammunition in the plane. he can scroll through the various settings using the MMCB or master mode control button for Nav, CCRP, CCIP, or guns with two optionally sights. I don't think the helmet has the HUD information on it.
The throttles? And the speed brakes assist in slowing down mid air and when landing. The throttles are the same. If you are not talking about that then please try explaining better. And your welcome for the reply, anytime.
wow fantastic video---I worked 14 years at a factory that made the bullets that the a-10 shoots this is a great video-thanks to the---A-10--demonstration team.......hope you guys make it up to new england soon ....thanks
It's no different to looking on the web for information on this jet and you find this come with weird vibes? Grow up. The main reason for air shows are to appreciate the beauty of flight and planes.
I've been to one when I was little that did that, but I'm not sure if the were actually shooting at something or they simply rigged explosions. Either way I felt the heat from the fire haha
I remember reading about one Marine who said that they played 'Follow Me' at his graduation. Now they play 'I Will Not Bow'. I'm getting the vibe that the U.S Military likes Breaking Benjamin....
I love seeing the GCAS break warning at 6:07. So many G's, not enough brrrt
Hey i live in douglas, ga hour away from moody afb. you guys are awsome my hat goes out to you, and the rest of the fighting armed forces "KEEP THEM FLYING AND RAINING DOWN HELL"!!!!!
Wing over, Loop, Cuban 8, Roll of the Top, Aileron Roll, Vertical Roll, Stall Turn, and as a finishing touch .. an Outside Loop :D that's how i used to do my aerobatic sequence ..
Great video, thanks. It would be even better for us flightsim geeks if all the cockpit gauges were captured for most of the flight also. No gauges videos of the real A-10C around.
NOTHING cooler than an A-10 !!!!!! You guys ROCK !!!!
Demonstration of a killing machine to a civilian public with rock music playing in the background. What the fuck is going on? Am I the only one getting wierd vibes by this?
Had a lot of friends on the ground, they always said it was a toss up. These and the Apache choppers coming in pretty much = bad guys giving up/pissing all over themselves
Why is he wearing a patch with the old Army air corp symbol and it says USAF on top of that? I could of sworn the Original Airforce symbol looked different. Just wondering.
Не ну вообще то да ты прав он лучше того что у тебя в стране сейчас есть это я не спорю. Ну а если сравнивать с более развитыми странами то как то сомневаюсь что он идеален.
Why? Because I document the demos for the teams, promoters & for historical archives. I do offer and in some cases, have alternate versions which are not just from an "air show spectator" perspective. We volunteer our free time to document these demos. We also work full time jobs, do freelance work and yes... even have lives outside of air shows. I have hundreds of hours of footage. If you want to fund some alternate edits, contact me. Otherwise, please enjoy the free video, or not!
You just have to hate aviation, or the military to not appreciate this vid. My old man flew the Hog, and this vid gives me the chills every time. Well done.
Leave it to the government to keep fixing something until it's broke save our A10.
The "obsolete" cold war aircraft designed to destroy Soviet armor that kicks major ass in different roles in the second decade of the 21st century!
air shows would be so much more impressive if they let demo pilots fire at dummy targets... :P the sound of that GAU-8 is what defines that aircraft...
Blanks. Who cares about dummy targets, there's plenty of expended brass, just crimp and pack it with powder, done! Just need the 'Brrrrrrrrrt!'
I had the honor of having the support me in Iraq..
The Gatling gun is a beast..
Massive respect to my American allies, 7Para British Army
This is the most bad ass aircraft ever built!! I remember watching them run practice sorties while I was hiking through the Adirondacks.
They do sometimes...but you have to go to an airbase that has a range on it with observation areas...and those exist in the desert.
They did that at Raf Leuchars air show when the tornado gr4 did a bombing run and they had genuine explosions, pretty cool :3
Bad Guys don`t need Spys anymore..just watch some RUclips Clips "aha..a fake Canopy painted on the bottom..interessting.." ;o)
yeah it it also makes my day wayyy longer dragging those things across the pacific
Hell yeah, throwin' some Alter Bridge in there. Not enough people listen to them.
This is one ugly aircraft..... but for that it can be forgiven for being one bad ass pain in the ass to the bad guys! :P
best plane doesnt and will never exist its just impossible ;).
But about A10 in his catégory of course, he is the best
get a bit closer to your dream and play DCS A-10C (if you aren´t already :) )...there´s no way to get closer than this.
With over 2000hrs in the cockpit of an A10, you'd better hope so. He's probably spent more time behind the stick than most people have behind the wheel of their car.
What is the songname from the track between 08:57 and 09:34 ?
I like it but i cand remember the name, pls help me.
There is no difference. The official designation is A-10 Thunderbolt II, but it's mostly referred too as the Warthog.
but thats what i said just in my previous comment. They still do practice with GAU-8 .. it will cost no extra money if there will be people watching it or not.
Worked on them at England AFB Alexandria La. in the mid-80's. She is still a beautifull lady. Fuel cell rules!!!!!
All I got is DCS: A-10C :c Not as fun as real life, but knowing how to operate the plane in this video is nice :P
I don’t care this is a beast and the music choice from the ground is awesome perfect for our hog
So, why was the showline not infront of the crowd during some of the passes?
you dont get me .. they do practice with real ammunition. so what is the problem to do practive while having some audience in safe distance :)
well...i...wonder... if i want to become fighter pilot i must to graduate from the air force Academy first?
Don't listen to that madman, you have 1 dislike and it's from him. Excellent video! Thank you for sharing.
saw some yesterday when i was in the field training doing gun runs awesome
Think you-tube needs a separate music form video option if that is at all possible LOL Have to say I think the music really makes it :D
i dont understand why its called the warthog. they say its because its ugly, but i find it quite appealing and good looking in simplicity.
Best plane ever!!! Note in the Middle East the Taliban call the A-10 "The Dragon" death from above!!!
Да нах этот хлам нужен? 1-2 ракеты и этого не будет. А у твоей страны и ракет нет что бы этот кукурузник сбить.
But it makes up for it by being able to take more damage then any aircraft that exist and still fly.
ฉันก็ไม่รู้นะแต่มีผู้ใหญ่บางคนแนะนำว่าจะส่งครูการบินมาฝึกบิน
fantastic.....but sure got tired of that guy yak yak yakkin away with his carnival barking spchiel
9:35 gives me chills
turn and burn
Машина шикарна! Тебе и придраться не к чему, она просто идеальна и не имеет аналогов. ТЫ руське синяк ))
we call them SLATS. auto delpoy at HIGH Angle of Attack and also auto deploy when gun is fired
did that announcer just talk for 17 mins non-stop....shut up! we wanna hear the a-10 engines.
I don't know if this is standard procedure or what, but this guy just seems DAMN good at this.
when the driver uses the GAU-8 to shoot does he aim with his helmet thing or from the plane ?? if u get what i mean
i got linked to this after watching blink182 videos... then noticed the track at 5:05... spoooooky shit
i can hear fuckin betty screaming all the time pull up, pull up!
i think one of the best war-planes USA ever build.i do not think f-35 can replace them.
HAAAAAAAAAA HAHAHA, Ohh Wow, if i had a club you would be the main comedy attraction.
