Eh, not quite man.......the Stuka and IL2 both did their intended jobs as good as the available technology, and so did the P-47. That's just the ground attack. How andttackbut hot there have been ZERO F-15's lost in combat? I'd say it's the best at it's job, and it has a better combat record than the Warthog, 600 kills to no losses, so it absolutely does it's job, air superiority, as good as the Warthog does it's job, ground attack. The Warthog is also a sub part received plane, refueler, and VIP transport. There are plenty of aircraft that complete their jobs to the same degree, of not better than, what the A-10 does in it's realm.

Robert Mantell The F-15 is awesome, no doubt. Does the A2A role well. But the F-15 has not really gone against on-par warplanes w/ trained pilots. They have only destroyed inferior warplanes. Not asking much.
The A-10 goes through the nasty stuff and comes back all the time, just like it was supposed to do. It has been delayed from retirement again and again for a reason.
The argument was for the comment......."best aircraft at it's job ever". That's what I was getting at, pretty ballsy claim considering that there were purpose built planes that did their jobs just as good or better. Is the Warthog a stone cold killer? Yep, best at it's job, as in CAS / tank killing, etc..... Yep. Best ever at doing it's designed purpose? No lol....hell, J Cub at being safe does it's job as good as a Hog at CAS lol.....
Just the sound if it's engines alone would strike fear in the enemy. Sounds like the Mellennium Falcon with rabies!

Used to work on the weapons systems for these. Awesome job. But you don't hear the loud whistle of the engines until it's directly overhead. Enemy would have been dead long before that from the gun.

+Megalodon64 Even if it can be equipped with two Sidewinder missiles, it's role is Close Air Support.
It's much slower so the pilot can aim the colossal GAU-8 minigun, amongst the plethora of other munitions it can use.
Alongside being built to take a lot of damage because it's moving so slow.

Thanks for posting-good work for handheld. That Capt. really hung those tusks out! Like the nose pull, then turn after attack. Ex Hog Chief here and will always be proud of the A-10.

The most beautiful sound of the Air Force
Most iconic plane in service and truly the best sounding plane with that whistle, you know it's an a10 when it flies by. Plus it's a flying tank with that 30mm gatling gun.
Thee ONLY military aircraft so LETHAL, that we've NEVER EXPORTED IT, even to our closest allies! =:O

I'll tell you, the fighter jet boys repect the pilot in this plane. Total killing machine on the ground and would not pick a fight in the air with those 50 caliber bullets either.
Nope. They tried to can it at least twice, and every time they were left with the reality that, without the A-10 they'd have no more A-10s. :P

silent? that thing is about as silent as a thermonuclear explosion. just as badass too
The A10 got my squad out of trouble couple of dozen times. Put it this way when the enemy hear the A10 coming the enemy goes running out of trucks, tanks and everything they known the gatlin gun is going to cuttings them up. The A10 is the baddest plane out there.
It’s a gun with wings, and a fucking maneuverable flying gun too. 360 degrees sustained turn in 16 seconds, sometimes less.
The A-10 is almost too heavy to perform a slow roll.
Why are airshows ruined by announcers and music. The sound of the jet is music………I’d prefer to hear that.

By the time the bad guys saw it was to late, at 1 minute into this video she was ready to fight. 1st Iraq war 2 came in less than 20 meters over head.
Sad the USAF and Pentagon doesn't feel this aircraft is worthy of a real replacement. The Hog earned its rep during Gulf War I coming back to the base all shot up. The F-35 is no tank killer.
You know that you can actually adjust the volume of every single sound in the cockpit right? Only a few things cannot be turned off (like the AoA stall warning) but they can still be turned down.

Mine also, I live in Hagerstown, Md where the first A10’s were produced by Fairchild industries. My wife’s Uncle helped build the first prototypes.
He would never say what he was working on other than top secret, and he said when it first takes to the sky you will know it because it had a unmistakable sound that you will never forget. I’ll never forget when it was all over the news in our small town.

This thing is a turkey compared to any other 4th generation fighter, it would be knocked out of the sky before it even knew it. It’s an attack jet, not meant to dogfight
