Thx for gteat tutorial. I stubbled on your video anf have subscribed as i love ur work. Thx. Cant wait to see more Greetings from your new subscriber in Cyprus😊
Hello! With someone that has nails like this it is likely the best she an do is 2 weeks between services. I would try to really dehydrate after you prep. So file and prep well using a file that is not too fine. You want to make sure its more than just "buffed" with a fine buffer. Feel free to text me photos of this step so I can see what your prep looks like! The wipe with prep n wipe. Apply an acid primer like no lift and let DRY completely. This make take a few minutes. Do not blow on it or try to speed up the drying. Then do it again, yes apply the primer again and let dry/ turn chalky. Then apply Xbond. Cure. Then apply Trinity. Cure. Then whatever color. Hopefully she will be able to go 2 weeks without much problems. I would not use build, its too flexible, the little bit more hardness of trinity should help. But I do see lifting sometimes with affixit so I think that may have been the issue, not the trinity. I've found pairing x-bond and trinity to be great for my pocket lifting client, so I do feel it is the best chance. But starting with a really good dehydration with the No Lift primer is going to be key. It will take a bit more time because that primer needs to turn the nail chalky dry, but it should really help.
I have heard from other techs not to use acetone when cleaning gel dust before gel polish because it will smooth/melt the gel and cause lifting? Does it not do that with a small amount of acetone? Or is it even true? Seems logical. Thanks for your most awesome content. Love the new angles. Still learning. This is exactly what I am now workingon. Removal of most gel for my 30day manis. My clients overlay is much to thick. ...Lastnight I put on my iPad to watch this. Of course I fell asleep 2 minutes in. But before that ....it was midnight and I hit play... my husband asks "who is that?" Me "its Jess" My husband "oh, I knew I recognized that voice" Me "do you want me to put my ear buds in?" Hubby "no I don't mind" Lol❤
Lol so funny! I have had a few people say their husbands think my voice is soothing?? I have no idea why. Lol. But the watching in bed thing is not super uncommon. One of my clients had insomnia and her husband was like.. “it’s 3am… why do I hear Jess” “I can’t sleep ok!?” Lol
Ok now you answer you :). Using acetone the way I do has never caused lifting. Akzentz requires more than a few seconds of acetone to affect it. A solvent gel polish made with mostly polish and some gel will react different so that educator may have a problem with their products, but it won’t happen with what I use. A product like shellac is soak off so that will work different than how I’m working with Trinity as a base - it’s not soak off. That being said, I’m using a combo of mostly alcohol with just a 20-25% acetone to clean the nail before gel application. It works to clean off dust and dehydrate the nail so it’s a good thing!
Hi, I'm an avid Luxio user and love it for my Gel Mani clients. I am doing a structure type mani and plan on using options clear w/ xbond. I'm w. you on changing the wording! I'd love to see your 30 day Mani item if that was okay? My clients go 3-5 weeks so it would suit my service well.
Options clear works ok. It doesn’t feel as good as Trinity and it will get hotter when you file off color. You also add a step with having to do Optibond first and options gels are more expensive per ounce. So unless it’s someone who didn’t do well in Trinity for some reason, I wouldn’t use options for a base as it doesn’t have benefits. I’d only use it on a customer that wasn’t returning and needed to be able to soak off at home. But yes same idea. :)
Hi Jess! Thanks for sharing your knoedge and techniques with us. Quick question, if I use trinity as base before my color, and decide to use a color different from Akzetz-Luxio, let's say Luminary, do I need to buffer before so Luminary adheres properly? Do I need to use their base and then the color?
Oh is that me? 😃💖🏴 I know you have an older video on it, AND I know you don’t do them often, but the next time you have a French backfill can you show us please? 🤓 I’m still trying to get the hang of a hard gel French!
I don’t do French the old school way with hard white gel and pinks. It requires finish filing and I don’t want to work that hard! I am able to customize a gel polish French a bit better so that’s what everyone gets. I did a few of my regulars today but next time I have one I’ll invite y’all to hang out :)

Hi! I just found your channel and love it. I’m a newly licensed nail tech. What grit file do you use for finish filing? And why doesn’t that cause chipping to the gel polish? Thank you!
Hello! For finish filing new sets or new nails (I never finish file fills!) I use a 100/180 Zebra and flip back and forth depending on if i need to remove a lot or just smooth :)
And it does not cause chipping because all the products used are 100% gel and cure perfectly. Usually chipping is from a gel polish primarily made of nail polish - just smell it and you will know. Luxio has no smell!
Oh my gosh because there is absolutely 0 need!! LOL. The product self levels beautifully and leaves a tacky surface for your gel polish to stick to. There is no need to finish file if you apply the way I do. Save your body and save time. I only finish file brand new extensions or full sets. EVER.
If they want longer nails than what they come in with, that’s extensions which is a full set. If they are just overlaying the nails they have, then it’s a overlay which I charge the same as a fill. Why? Because I don’t have to spend the 15 min removing old product so I consider it a wash.
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz ok. I think I understand, clients understand that removing the color ( some lifting if thats the case), adding more gel is the fill in, but In your video, I see that you remove like 90% of product and then you add the gel, it almost look like a new service.
So your lamp on your table reflects light. You should see in your gel this reflection. If the mail is bumpy, your light reflection will be wavy. The goal is to have a reflection that is not wavy. Here is an example of a set where you can see the long reflection. I had to go back in time because I use a round light for photos now so it doesn’t show a long light the way my slimline lamp does :) let me know if that makes sense. instagram.com/p/BoKWc_EhMXa/?
Hi Jess, I am new to your channel, and loving your videos so far! I have a question. Is it okay to use other gel polish brands on top of Trinity ' 3-in-1' builder gel?
Hi Jess, If I had a client who I do overlays on her natural nail using Trinity, the same way you did in the video, but on next appointment wants me to extend her nails to give her some length, would I have to completely file off the Trinity from her previous overlay in order to extend her nail? or can I leave a thin layer just like you did here and then do the extension, then build the apex?
It’s a course zebra band from my site. They are fantastic and not bumpy. I use a foot pedal like driving a car, so the speed will change constantly depending on if I’m shortening or on top etc.
If you can find a nail tech in a full service salon or studio, you will have better luck. Most professional nail techs do NOT work at the salons on every corner - if you know what I mean :) Ask for a thin hard gel overlay with gel Polish. If anyone ever gets out Powder - run! It’s always acrylic!!
No! This is a completely Unnecessary step if you apply well. Sometimes people don’t flash cure long enough and I have to smooth a spot. But you should be able to go directly to color. Finish filing is a lot of work and I only do it for full sets.
I am using a foot pedal so the speed of my sanding band is typically quite high when I am right on top of the nail and just starting removal so it’s probably close to 30,000 RPM. Then as I work around the side walls and the cuticle area I am lightning up on my foot pedal which reduces the speed probably till closer to 10 to 15,000 RPM
Side wall lifting is almost always a prep issue. Sometimes it’s a curing issue if your lamps aren’t strong. Try to really focus on your prep and let me know which lamp you use.
Oh!! Like where it pulls away after the nails start growing out. You need to use a bit at the end of the service to relieve some natural nail nail from the under side. As nails grow out they naturally pull in making a tighter c-curve down the barrel. The thicker their natural nail is, usually the worse it lifts from this spot. You don’t need strength there, use your bit at the end and you will see a huge improvement. I’m sure I show this at the end of some other videos. I do it with all square nails!
I notice you only prep and wipe w/acetone. I’m sure I missed this explanation in your other videos. But you don’t use any Protein Bond or anything of the sort. Trinity will stick without?!?
I actually find that the nails do best when not using any other products before Trinity. I used to use primer and a protein bond but when I didn’t use them a few times I saw even less lifting than before. 98% of my clients nails have 0 lift using these techniques for prep etc.
@@luvnailz Thank you very much. I have a couple with minimal lifting. One with a lot(full time hair stylist). I am going to definitely try this. It has been a bit complicated, this topic between fill in and full set, like I don't know when/how to charge for a fill in or a new set.

It’s a very thin layer so it’s not hard to remove 90%. Seriously it’s a very thin coating. Not much is needed!

Most do. It’s their preference. Lots are 3 weekers. I have 1 that likes 2 weeks. A few slow growers go like 5 weeks.
Have you raised prices in the last year? That’s usually a good way to free up time without losing income. Plus inflation is no joke right now!
