Hello, Young Nails crew! I wanted to send you guys a very special Thank You for all of these awesome videos! I can't tell you how helpful they are....you're great teachers, and all of your knowledge and experience you're sharing is invaluable. Keep on posting, and I will keep watching (and re-watching) all of your videos :-))
I was the one that commented on painting the smile line. Thank you for talking about it! Some one else also commented that encapsulating would last longer and I agree! I didn’t think of it like that. Most of my clients like to change it up a lot so it is easier for me to paint but on those that like the smile line constantly I will cut out the smile line. I’m so excited you talked about it though! And thank you for showing the gel fill. I’ve been getting into gel recently being a strictly acrylic only nail tech and your products have helped a ton 😁
Wow! Gorgeous results in record time! You’re videos are a true inspiration!! You Can’t wait to see a 3-4 week gel rebalance sometime in the future. Love you guys!!
Hi Young Nails Team! I’m a licensed nail tech from Hong Kong. I was taught both gel and acrylic in school, but I’ll say nail salons here are 99% gel. I still practice acrylic on myself from time to time, or if I have a nail bitten client I will use acrylic on her. I just keep hearing Tracey saying that we should be able to do both and be able to offer what the clients need ... how do we know whether the client needs acrylic or gel.. ? I’m going to be greedy and go for a second question... here in HK we don’t have refills.. it’s just a set price for gel mani and pedi.. and nail art is extra... but the way we perform a “refill” would kinda be the same (like we would file off the colour and if the base is not lifted we will re-balance and go from there)... so I’m confused.. is a new setting just for acrylics where you can soak off and start new.. ?
1. Tracey goes through a couple examples as to who does best with one or the other, it's your job as a tech to know, ex. : extreme bitten or ski slope nails = acrylic, eggshell, or heavy water exposure = gel. 2. As long as your clients are coming back to you and receiving regular maintenance on their nails with good product there is no need to remove and reapply. Fills and re balancing will be all they need in the future to maintain. Only time necessary is if there is damage, or by client request to achieve a certain look.
Love this series! 💜 What if the client needed all this, but came in with a solid black gel polish on , and wanted light pink gel polish? So, a color that couldn’t cover what was under it. Could it be done in 30 minutes?
HA!! ♥_♥ Love real time!! The first one here!! GDAY!! YN Me 3.... 25+ years of doing nail used to be acrylic but since the re-release and update of Gel the new Gel products are so much better, than the past and now I love it! SOOOO MUCH! Changed with Gel!! Thank Goodness. This "fill" is equal to the old File and Polish! simply freshes and helps us Artist actually make money not like the old days we worked for free just about
You could if it bothered you, however at that time it would be basically a new set with the amount of product used and time spent removing and re applying, but if the client was requesting that and understood the difference in cost of course you could do so.
what is the disposable cloth you have underneath the client’s hands? I have issues with clients not paying attention and smooshing their nails into the cloth getting lint on there🤦🏼♀️

On my daughters nails she will always have issues with breakage and or lifting. Even when she was getting them done by a professional. Any tips? This happens weather its gel build or acrylic. Thanks any advice is appreciated.
You are welcome! Is she young? Often times it is hard to get enhancements to stay on kids under like 16-17 as they have so many hormones pimping through them. Naturally theirs tend to lift a little more often.
Marelyn Dixon are they lifting when she goes and gets them done or when you do them? My nails use to lift a lot when I started doing my nails at 16 but I think it had a lot to do with my prep and application. Sometimes even filing in the wrong order can cause lifting right after application.
Marelyn Dixon awe, that must be frustrating. I heard that too much primer can cause lifting as well. Have you tried to use a different system on her, like maybe dip nails, fiberglass, gel, poly gel, or something else? Maybe it’s acrylic? Hopefully they stop lifting. Sorry this is happening to her.
Tracey, it’s amazing how quick you can do a fill and all with quality. I can see now that Tracey can do her services as quickly as she foes because she knows what she needs to do in each services. She knows all her steps and then just does them. I think this is where I lose a lot of my time. I still find myself fiddling and stumbling through my services and losing time as I do. I don’t have a constant flow of clients and I think the big gap between each client is what makes it hard for me to keep all the steps fresh in my mind. Apart from just practicing on more people and just keep doing more sets. What are some ways, tips or tricks that new techs can do that will help with remembering the steps needed in their services? Love Tracey’s wrists, I have real baby wrists that’s why I don’t like filming. Xx 💋
Repetition! Whether it's practicing on yourself, a fake hand, friends and family or even just repeating steps. Tracey's flow comes from several years in salon seeing around 14 clients per day! That is a lot of practice. It becomes second nature to you after the billionth time muscle memory almost. There are no secrets just loootttsss of practice! :)
I reckon they would near glow in the dark they r that shiny, love it. I thought that be 4 you said it too, lol. "glitter them ALL!!" For someone who does shake a little, I am always so gob smacked and amazed how quick proficient and exact you are Tracy, it doesn't hold you back one bit!!! awesome as always, Glitter is the BOMB!!! (and we all need our coffee) lol xxx
You guys are amazing! The nails look gorgeous but will the client not complain about the previous color showing underneath (if one turns the hand upside down)?
Definitely something to discuss with the client. In this case I'd rather see the color underneath than pay the difference to have them removed and re sculpted.
Love this and the end result, however if they wanted the hot pink and yet that blue glitter was still showing through after the second coat of pink manicue - what would you have done? More coats of hot pink or a lighter glitter mix? How do you gauge what will show through and what will cover on a general basis? Thanks again for these wonderful videos!!
another coat would have likely covered completely if they didn't want glitter. it's a judgement call like anything else, obviously a pale yellow wouldn't have covered in this scenario ya know.
Can you guys do a video about what type of product is better for which type of nails? Ie. gel vs acrylic for different nail conditions. Thank you for all you do,
I love these videos. Tracey is the goat for real time. Next time can you guys get a closer camera shot? because I love learning from Tracey when she do gel nails.
Gel is great for people with most average natural nails, no bitten to bits etc. Gel is also great for people who are in a lot of water on a daily basis.
I could feel her shakes towards the end, and trying to grab that little furby on the bottle brush lol. Give it up to Stacey doing all these impeccable vids with all her work being held under the huge RUclips audience magnify glass gawwdang girl I salut you!!!!👏👏👍👍❤️🔥🔥🔥
I love your videos, so informative! I do have a question. You put top coat on after each glitter press, but how do you keep from contaminating it with color and glitter?
Honestly we recommend one top coat for glitter and one for solid to eliminate the problem completely but to help if you do not do that try a softer touch when applying the top coat so you are more like floating the top coat on rather than brushing it on. Picks up a little less glitter plus you of course dry brush off the excess glitter before top coating, and you can wipe the brush after if you do pick any up.
Thank you very much for the video. You promised me that you're going to make a video and here it is. Tomorrow I have a a infill and I'm going to practice Tracy's advice. I do not think I'll finish in 30 minutes but at least in one hour 🤣😁❤️🥰 Tracy you are the best ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🧚♀️🦋💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼
I always here Tracy talking about when to use gel vs. acrylic and she mentioned it again in this video. As an about to graduate nail tech, I'd love to know some of the criteria Tracy uses to make that recommendation to her clients!?! As always, thank you for amazing content!!!
Great question! If they have damaged nails.. like.. bitten, ski slope, wide nails or brittle nails I will put acrylic on them. If they have healthy nails, in water or chemicals a lot I will use gel. Hope that helps.
Well you would take your full set or fill base price whatever that is and usually includes one gel polish color. The we charge $5 per glitter used which in this case was 3 so that's an additional $15 on top of your base price.
Question...can you use fine loose glitter say from a craft store? I've tried doing glitter presses before and my final look always has a gritty surface. What can I do for that?
So if your fill takes 30 mins how long do you book out for the client? Do you book in 30 minute slots and hope there’s no repairs to do, or do you allow extra time for repairs clean up and set up?
Very helpful videos and covers relevant important topics and techniques!! Thank you guys 😘would love to see you covering pedicures as well if possible... Will highly appreciate... Stef, Tracy & Salo brothers thanks for all the insights..
Tracey kind of goes over some instances here in this video, typically ski slope nails or extremely bitten nails require acrylic in order to cast the nail into where it should go. Some clients have allergies to acrylic which leaves them to gel for extensions.
My rule of thumb is: Rigid/thick nails = acrylic. Thin/flexible/oily = gel. I found that those who have more rigid nails/thicker nails do better with acrylic because rigidity meets rigidity and pairs together without lifting or pulling away at the free edge. Those with thinner nails that warp easily when wet or break easily like an eggshell do better with gel because it is more flexible. I also feel that those with oily nails (I am that person, with eggshell nails) do much better with gel because base gels don't seem to be as bothered by oils. You cannot dehydrate me or rough my nail plate enough to keep acrylic on at either the cuticle or free edge. It was maddening and no one could ever get me through 2 weeks without lifting. Gel sits like a dream for me. I could get 10 lifts in the past and now I'm lucky to see one or two max. It is why not pricing different for acrylic vs gel is so important. You choose what is best, not their wallet. Better service, happier customers, and that is the right way to go about it to have the right product to do the job correctly.
Protein bond is The leader in non-acidic adhesion without the corrosive primers, our proprietary polymer bonds to the keratin structure and creates a stickier surface. Talking about lights, on bottles or descriptions we mostly see: 60LED / 2Min UV. Okay, understood. But, we now enter the 54W World.. and I guess that we are going to see more Wattage in the future.. Are descriptions going te be different from now on? Or are we on a border? Because is 60 seconds still the way to walk with 54W?
i always do my mom her nails.. and when she is coming back in 3 weeks she has a lot of cuticle skin on the nails. is there a way how she can keep that away? it sticks on het nails like a rock.
hello I was watching the video, and I think you said you can use acrylic and you can use gel to fill I wasn't to make sure I heard that right? If thats so you can save so much time.
I’m 55. And I graduate at the end of this month. Was driving truck. Still going to part time till I get client base built up. If I can do it ANYONE can do it! That means you!
I'm 50 and starting a new career, if I can speed up! We all have to reinvent ourselves, start something new, at some point. If I can do it, so can you!! Keep up the great work YN team!
The airbrush is a great tool for the painted smile line, just mask it off and spray! If you're going to be crafty, you could choose another glitter for an accent nail - that way another 5 dollars... Make up for all the wastage. :)
Lesley Porter that stuff is amaze balls. I started using the stain resistant topcoat on a lady that comes every three weeks for pink and whites she’s a busy hairdresser and I do pink and white acrylic with the gel topcoat I switch to the stain resistant and they don’t come in muddy or Matt anymore they’re shiny and nice and clean it blew my mind the difference
Holy Glitter Balls Batman Lol I Love them !!!! & Yes could hear those Bellies Rumble & OH BOYYYY Tracey the Glitter on that table ... Even tho its Paid for Lmao !!!! Keep it Sparklin Girl !!!!!!!
I have to say I don't do that when it comes to acrylic. I am part of that 1% who is allergic to the acrylate in the product. Oh well. Good thing I love working with gels 😂
I did get fills done 15 min quicker! So I should just be happy about that i guess. Can’t wait to see demo on new efile 😊 Was just about to order your other one. ❤️ new T-shirt’s and hats also.
@@youngnailsinc it has worked allright thoug... no lifting in any of the refills :) and no stains thanks to your stain resistant topcoat... i'm vet and nailtech... and have been working with iodine.... no stains 😍😍😍
I guess this is why it takes me longer..and it always will.. There is too much space between the gelpolish and cuticlw it literally already looks like 1 week old nails... So when someone tells me they had theie nails filled in 30mins all I can say is "I see" because if you applied the gelpolish as perfectly as I do even with all your experience it would take you another 10 to 15 mins. This to me is very important and as a Client paying 60+ for would be way too much :)
Ps, you guys are so awesome for replying to every question all the time, that’s very rare ❤️ thank you!

But, we now enter the 54W World.. and I guess that we are going to see more Wattage in the future..
Are descriptions going te be different from now on? Or are we on a border? Because is 60 seconds still the way to walk with 54W?
Are you talking 9w bulb ? the wattage stays the same the number of bulbs is increased
what would make nails not eligible for gel?
Is it ok prep the natural nail with this brill bit?
Yep, medium cross cut, its about the same as a medium sanding band.
i always do my mom her nails.. and when she is coming back in 3 weeks she has a lot of cuticle skin on the nails. is there a way how she can keep that away? it sticks on het nails like a rock.
lots of moisturizer, cuticle oil regularly, and maybe seeing you more like every 2 weeks so you can keep it under control.
The model has a beautiful pinkie mole.🥰
hello I was watching the video, and I think you said you can use acrylic and you can use gel to fill I wasn't to make sure I heard that right? If thats so you can save so much time.
Yep! Correct that's exactly what we are doing here.
What was the pink polish? I need it in my collection 💜

How do you know when it’s time to replace a bit???
When you start slowing down, feeling the need to put pressure or when clients are mentioning feeling heat during the filing process
Another great set Tracey!!!!!!! I love doing gels!!!! At 52, I think it may be too late for me to change careers to be a nail tech.
never too late!
I’m 55. And I graduate at the end of this month. Was driving truck. Still going to part time till I get client base built up. If I can do it ANYONE can do it! That means you!
Love this!
I like where your heads at!
Did you really charge the helper🤔😉💅🏽
I Appreciate these videos. Tyfs.
Thank you! Happy you are enjoying them
Can you please list what the names of the products in correct order
We have updated the description with the products used and links.
Stunning set! :)
Thank you! We thought so too.
Do you do dip powder if no why?
we have a dip system, its called slickpour. we have several videos here on our channel demonstrating it
Just did this to all my nails today, but blue polish and glitter in exactly the shade that got covered up! 😆😆
nice!
Fabulous, thank you. X
Thanks for watching!
I'm in the UK how do I order your stain resistant top coat
Young nails UK will be able to assist you, you can find all their information on our website youngnails.com under "resources" - "locate distributor"
Keep it Sparklin Girl !!!!!!!
hahaha!
I have to say I don't do that when it comes to acrylic. I am part of that 1% who is allergic to the acrylate in the product. Oh well. Good thing I love working with gels 😂
❤️
How much for a fill like this?
Would be $60 for the fill and an additional $5 for the glitter, the gel polish color is included so a total of just $65 this time.
Soooo fast, good job girl
So good!
Love it. My only problem is i cash out and schedule my clients. So if i do fills in this amount of time i still need more time. 🤦♀️ lol
Always allow a realistic time for yourself, even if it is more. You don't want to stress yourself out over not enough time.
I did get fills done 15 min quicker! So I should just be happy about that i guess. Can’t wait to see demo on new efile 😊 Was just about to order your other one. ❤️ new T-shirt’s and hats also.
Awesome! Coming soon!!
I'm really missing your how much gel videos !
More videos coming daily!
What is the nail of that color please? if you could try to always name the colors for us wanting to collect your color range thank you Woot Magenta!

Love yours videos,in one way helpful but another way... there's no perfection!!!! It's all about the time and money! 😐
Doll Nails you are right :(it’s not all about money ..
But I still appreciate her and her videos because I understand her way to see things and it’s good this way ❤️
I need to work on my time. Fillin takes me a about 1 1/2 hour. 😢
you'll get there! just keep at it
YoungNailsInc thank you
I guess this is why it takes me longer..and it always will..
Thanks for your input!
Fat2Fit Mom yup, could not agree more. This is literally sacrificing quality over quantity.
