Speaking of Harpie Girl, there would be a fairly straightforward way of making her more useful. Make her a tuner and release a Harpie-archetype Syncro Monster.
Zombie Madness is largely an okay Zombie deck for the time period. The Water deck is Legendary Ocean beatdown, and that was still a tolerable budget deck. The Machine deck has Gadgets, and that alone puts it ahead.
I had no interest for the water deck outside of the boss monster and Daedalus. If I recall correctly, most of the reprints were easy to get cards. The applied to the fire deck, but I only had interested in Hell Flame Emperor (who was still sub-par) and Thestalos. Spellcasters were pretty decent as well. Sadly, I never got the machine structure deck. the OCG exclusive fairy structure deck was mostly counter fairies and the dark structure deck had crush card.
Genesis's effect is completely adequate. It's just that Zombie Master does more or less the same thing and arguably does it better, while also being orders of magnitude easier to play.
I recall during my childhood, in which I had bought the water deck, the fire deck and even the Earth deck (because I had got Hieracosphinx from an earlier pack and liked it), that I basically looked at this deck and just went "no".
I remember trading the uncensored version for a Junk Archer. Because Middle schoolers cannot resist the bargaining power that is boobies. Well, I mean, I could, because I traded it for a better card.
I'd just like to point out that Harpie Girl was in that deck for the purposes of making it "easier" to get all three effects from Harpie's Pet Baby Dragon.

I remember this deck being bad when it came out, and I was dumbfounded when a friend of mine just casually won 4 games in a row aagainst me with this deck, unmodified. That was the point where I thought my deck making skills could've used some improvement.

I really want the rock structure deck to be re-released. It will be really interesting to see what they could possibly do to fix it. It is the only structure deck i know of that focuses on the reliance of your opponent attacking you.

I talked with the Konami employee that drew the Harpie Ladies and Harpie Girl. He told me that Harpie Girl had the secret effect that it could summon any Wind monster by tributing itself and any Harpie Lady.
To second what someone said below, at the end of this series you should do a tournament for the top 8 worst structure decks. Each one incorporating 3 ofs of each structure deck
The fire deck was close to being playable. It sorely needed more solar flare dragons and baseball kids. But you never got to keep anything on the field in that deck anyway because all the monsters were so weak. I thought the zombie deck was half decent, going from pyramid turtle into ryu kokki and vampire lord was pretty solid.
Yeah, the FIRE one wasn't awful imo. It was tough getting out 2 Flare Dragons to set up the burn lock though. Despite that it had quite a few battle floaters (UFO Turtles and Fox Fire, I believe) which was awesome for the time. Zombies were really good just because Pyramid Turtle was awesome. Also, if the opponent couldn't run it over or Snatch Steal it, Vampire Lord was basically invincible since it came back from effect destruction. The boss was not the best though. Ryu Kokki was awesome especially when its effect came in clutch.
Funnily enough, Sonic Shooter had one good equip spell for it: Twin Swords of Flashing Light- Tryce. Since the equip spell reduces the monster's attack points by 500 to give it 2 attacks/turn. Since Sonic Shooter makes the damage its original attack, you suddenly have 2600 points of direct attack damage on a level 3 monster. That wasn't that shabby back then.
I think Simorgh, Bird of Divinity also deserves a callout for Simorgh, Bird of Ancestry - a monster that was literally created because they didn't realize that you couldn't use Wind Effigy's effect on anything. Seriously, they released a card with a "counts as two tributes when tributing for a Wind Normal Monster" effect, and then didn't bother to check if any two-Tribute Wind Normal Monsters actually existed. They still don't; Simorgh just has a line of text that says it's treated as a Normal Monster in the hand.
Seriously this is hilarious. Hoe lazy do you have to be to not make a Wind lv 7/8 that is normal. Heck I'll do it right now: Holy eagle of the west. 2800 atk. 2300 def. winged beast. Flavor text: a giant eagle who protects his home with powerful winds. This took me 30 seconds at most.
Simorgh "forces" your opponent to set their possibly valuable spell/traps and then you destroy them with Harpie's hunting ground Just an idea :P I am not defending it.
The point of this deck, on the special condition of having Simorgh and Dark Simorgh is to constantly burn your opponent without allowing them to play back row. Ideally, if you could get both of these two out (Mausoleum anyone?) all too quickly, it slows down your opponent's counter strategies, even if they have broken monster effects.

As in, if you have Harpy 1, sonic shooter will inflict 1600 instead of 1300, and at the end of damage calc, sonic shooters, attack will be 1600 (now boosted to 1900 by harpy 1). I'm a total nub so I have no idea what I'm talking about, but that seems to be an ambiguous card effect.
Got this Deck for 2€ in a Store so i bought it 3x and would run all the Harpys in it, Nobody knew that you could only use one of them so all that remains of it are Great memories of a pretty good Budget Deck back in the days
I had a harpie deck centered around harpies brother (wayyy early yugioh, like way before synchros were a thing and ritual monsters were few and far between) because it’s base attack was 1800 but all the support for harpy lady applied to harpies brother also. I would get his attack to around 3700 easily very consistently or multiple harpies brothers on the field with around 2400-3200 depending on the support I could draw. I wish I still had that deck, it would be fun to test it against new yugioh decks.

I really enjoy Dzeefs commentary. I like the TCG perspective on these cards because to me I know its true Swift Birdman Joe was not a great card but I really enjoyed using it to wipe the back board back in the days in middle school. It was around this time when I stopped playing the card game things changed in high school and I didn't pick up playing again til i downloaded duel links 2 years ago. I enjoyed duel links because the format was where I had left it off back then Tuners Synchro Xyz were nonexistent, slowly got the hang of newer formats. One day I see myself building an actual deck again but its rare to find someone to challenge without the hassle of going to events. I miss the school days where duels were going on in the cafeteria and library. You would just take a deck of 30-40 card deck with your extra cards and maybe even a spare deck if you had one. Dueling was so much fun I miss the days.

Sonic shooter's problem isn't unique to sonic shooter. Back in the day konami vastly overrated attack directly effects. There are so many shitty "this monster can attack directly" monsters.
I remember one of my friends using this deck back in the day, the problem was that he completely ignored that "Harpy Lady #" is treated as a "Harpy Lady" so he just had tons of them in his deck. He was completely disappointed when he learned he couldn't do that lol.
Funny thing is that Simorgh's even nerfed from how it was in the anime for no reason whatsoever. In the anime, its effect affected BOTH players during EACH End Phase (not just the turn player). This meant that summoning it at the right time was an instant 1000 damage, it could deal 2000 damage per turn-sequence, and sending backrow to the hand could actually combo with this card. But even with all that it would still suck.
Huh. I've just discovered that Simorgh Bird of Divinity, back when it was released in Lord of the Storm, actually functioned as its anime counterpart: it dealt both players damage during each End Phase, rather than just the respective turn's player. So, back then, sending back S/Ts to the hand actually did work for Simorgh. So at least that part of the problem actually can't be blamed to Lord of the Storm.

The fieldspell destroys spells/traps (when you summon harpy cards). The way to play is ceep destroying and bouncing the backrow. That way you can attack without fear and youre bossmonster deals burn. So not only bouncing.
I played some of the cards from the rock structure deck in my ojama deck in duel links lmao. With ojama country if you have an ojama card on the field the attack and defense of all monsters are reversed so exxod was a 4k insta kill beatstick
Harpie Lady 1 says that “all” wind monsters win 300 ATK position, it doesn’t says “in the field”, so, if you have one in in the field, even the Wind monsters in your hand or GY gain the ATK.
I'm not saying it wasn't situational, but birdman joe + hysteric party is decent getting resummon all your harpies a second time is reasonably good. Since your monsters being destroyed does not destroy the continuous trap , the bounce effect lets you reuse it.
back with these old structure decks i always saw them as a glorified booster pack with a set list rather than a random thing like a normal booster pack more than an actual deck not sure if that says any thing or not
lol i had the rock and red eyes deck as a kid; i used to crush with the red eyes deck till my friends insisted i only play with the rock deck. but that got boring really fast; by that point synchros were out and i was playin gladiator beasts and my friends hated me more

Im pretty sure we had a hundred cards or more in our decks. Like wed pull out a stack of cards with no sleeves and barely any multiple copies. Yet we could still get relinquished out...
I think they written the boss monster like the opposite end phase of what they intended. In that case they would work with the deck. Still bad, but at least would make "sense"
I never played Harpies and I'm not defending Harpy Girl from a fan standpoint, but I think there was intended merit to it's design even if in play it never was quite as planned or even realized. It's a low level designed to be cheaply summoned in and benefit from buffs. I come from MTG and sometimes a weak 1) 1/1 sliver is useful because it's cheap and benefits from the insane sliver buffs (for those who don't know, slivers are an archetype that has "all slivers gain [insert mechanic or stats here] and although rife in yugioh, it was insanely OP because it was keywords mostly).
With all due respect, this is an area I definitely wouldn't look at with a Magic or Hearthstone philosophy. In Yugioh there's no mana/lands to play cards. Therefore, it "costs" the same to play a Level 1 monster as it does to play a Level 4 monster. There is no advantage (in Yugioh) to play a weak vanilla monster instead of a stronger one, even ignoring effect monsters entirely. Comparisons between YGO and Magic can be made with certain cards, but monster cards in YGO are extremely difficult to evaluate with Magic terms. Hope this helped!
Harpie Lady 2 is only useful if you know your opponent has some flip effects that would cause you a hassle at the beginning or middle of the duel, and 3 is ok for stalling
Can you review Realm of the Sea Emperor? It was my first structure when I was 11 years old, and when I used it, it was pretty bad although I loved using it
I feel like Simorgh's effect should have been: Cannot be Special Summoned. If you Tribute Summon this card, at least one of the tributes must be WIND. This card gains 100 ATK for each of your opponent's open Spell and Trap Zones. You can inflict 200 damage to your opponent for each of their open Spell and Trap Zones. This effect cannot be used for the rest of that turn.
You should try making videos in which you take bad structure decks and create a good/better deck using their overall strategy. You know a lot of competitive strategies & cards, so why not?

+BlakesGamez Original attack is a specific game term that means the printed number on the card. Sonic Shooter will always do 1300 damage. :(

Sonic shooter's problem isn't unique to sonic shooter. Back in the day konami vastly overrated attack directly effects. There are so many shitty "this monster can attack directly" monsters.
Anal fabrics Monsters with 300 attack are meta relevant alongside Ring of Magnetism, but Mucus Yolk, a 0 ATK direct attacker, is way too good man

I remember one of my friends using this deck back in the day, the problem was that he completely ignored that "Harpy Lady #" is treated as a "Harpy Lady" so he just had tons of them in his deck. He was completely disappointed when he learned he couldn't do that lol.
Funny thing is that Simorgh's even nerfed from how it was in the anime for no reason whatsoever. In the anime, its effect affected BOTH players during EACH End Phase (not just the turn player). This meant that summoning it at the right time was an instant 1000 damage, it could deal 2000 damage per turn-sequence, and sending backrow to the hand could actually combo with this card. But even with all that it would still suck.
The boss monster aka Sim-Bod needed an effect to remove a wind monster from the grave to pop a backrow.
Huh. I've just discovered that Simorgh Bird of Divinity, back when it was released in Lord of the Storm, actually functioned as its anime counterpart: it dealt both players damage during each End Phase, rather than just the respective turn's player. So, back then, sending back S/Ts to the hand actually did work for Simorgh. So at least that part of the problem actually can't be blamed to Lord of the Storm.
I loved this deck when I was a kid, but that was purely because I loved bird monsters and only played the game against people who also had no idea what good cards were
This deck adapted well to a winged-beast/ Harpy Aggro though. That back row sack made a lot of openings to punch the shit into your opponent face.

Lady Ninja Yae is a reference to the Mystical Ninja game series for Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. Same with Sasuke Samurai and the one based on Goemon.
The fieldspell destroys spells/traps (when you summon harpy cards). The way to play is ceep destroying and bouncing the backrow. That way you can attack without fear and youre bossmonster deals burn.
So not only bouncing.

I played some of the cards from the rock structure deck in my ojama deck in duel links lmao. With ojama country if you have an ojama card on the field the attack and defense of all monsters are reversed so exxod was a 4k insta kill beatstick
Harpie 2 wasnt completely useless back in like 2005-7 because of the prevalence of flip effect staples like magician of faith when it was legal

They should make a series of mini-tournaments with the structure decks of each year
You should just go over every Structure deck from Dragon's Roar and Zombie Madness to well however far you want to go.

Harpie Lady 1 says that “all” wind monsters win 300 ATK position, it doesn’t says “in the field”, so, if you have one in in the field, even the Wind monsters in your hand or GY gain the ATK.

Lady ninja yae was used in combination with hesteric party you bounce all your opponents back row away use party and swarm to attack
I'm not saying it wasn't situational, but birdman joe + hysteric party is decent getting resummon all your harpies a second time is reasonably good. Since your monsters being destroyed does not destroy the continuous trap , the bounce effect lets you reuse it.
I dont even play YGO but I find this videos quite relaxing...
back with these old structure decks i always saw them as a glorified booster pack with a set list rather than a random thing like a normal booster pack more than an actual deck not sure if that says any thing or not
I think it would be cool if they reloaded this deck with a bunch of simorgh and harpie stuff, and made it somewhat good. I'd love to see that.
lol i had the rock and red eyes deck as a kid; i used to crush with the red eyes deck till my friends insisted i only play with the rock deck. but that got boring really fast; by that point synchros were out and i was playin gladiator beasts and my friends hated me more

I think they written the boss monster like the opposite end phase of what they intended. In that case they would work with the deck. Still bad, but at least would make "sense"
I never played Harpies and I'm not defending Harpy Girl from a fan standpoint, but I think there was intended merit to it's design even if in play it never was quite as planned or even realized. It's a low level designed to be cheaply summoned in and benefit from buffs. I come from MTG and sometimes a weak 1) 1/1 sliver is useful because it's cheap and benefits from the insane sliver buffs (for those who don't know, slivers are an archetype that has "all slivers gain [insert mechanic or stats here] and although rife in yugioh, it was insanely OP because it was keywords mostly).
With all due respect, this is an area I definitely wouldn't look at with a Magic or Hearthstone philosophy. In Yugioh there's no mana/lands to play cards. Therefore, it "costs" the same to play a Level 1 monster as it does to play a Level 4 monster. There is no advantage (in Yugioh) to play a weak vanilla monster instead of a stronger one, even ignoring effect monsters entirely. Comparisons between YGO and Magic can be made with certain cards, but monster cards in YGO are extremely difficult to evaluate with Magic terms. Hope this helped!

Harpie Lady 2 is only useful if you know your opponent has some flip effects that would cause you a hassle at the beginning or middle of the duel, and 3 is ok for stalling

Can you review Realm of the Sea Emperor? It was my first structure when I was 11 years old, and when I used it, it was pretty bad although I loved using it
I think fire kings is kinda bad since almost non of the effects trigger the boss monsters return blackhole effect
I feel like Simorgh's effect should have been:

You can inflict 200 damage to your opponent for each of their open Spell and Trap Zones. This effect cannot be used for the rest of that turn.

You should try making videos in which you take bad structure decks and create a good/better deck using their overall strategy. You know a lot of competitive strategies & cards, so why not?
Random dumb fact. You can summon Harpie Girl from the deck with Draconnet. Why in the fuck you would want to do that is beyond me though.
