Me too. Even then when I powered it on it startled me. Once cutting it wasn’t as loud though. Just got it running tonight first time. No more hand-cutting!
I have been wanting to start a small home based business for a few years now, and since I was an avid scrapbooker, I already have the machine, this is perfect! Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, not every seller would do so.... again, much appreciated!
Such great timing! Thank you Shay, I'll probably draw along while this video is playing, take care :D Also, as always, your stickers look awesome! Making stickers seems really fun :))
I've always wanted to make stickers, and I've watched so many videos on it, but I enjoyed yours the most :) It's very informative and calming--it makes me want to make stickers! Thank you so much!
I found your tutorial easier for me to follow than most. I would rewind a few times in faster spots, but I think going forward this will be easy. Next will be sticker sheets!
You just singlehandedly fixed the only problem I have with my machine😭 Everywhere I looked people said to line it up against the notch, not on top...I will definitely try that! Your stickers are extremely adorable💕
I love my portrait 3 for making stickers and also anything that is paper. ie crds etc. your directions are very clear, the only thing i do different is that i fold the mat over a little and items come off a little easier. keep up the good work and thanks
I’m watching this before class! Im learning so much from you, hope one day I make a sticker shop like yours. Edit: Totally in love with those Audrey stickers 🪴❤
I beyond love your perspective and advice for creating products!! It can be so confusing go about the process with no experience! Your stickers are so cute!! I love the laminations 😍💓💓
ps Export the image in jpg format, the resolution of more than 300 is best. Then the print will be very clear, there will be no yellow exclamation mark, but you need to set the tangent line in the software.
Thank you so much for this video! I recently bought this sillouette after a long fight with my old cricut (for anyone reading this, get a sillouette for stickers, cricuts dont have great accuracy), and the software looked a bit scary. You walked through the steps in a super easy to understand way, thank you :-) your stickers are beautiful, btw
I'm thinking about saving for the supplies to print stickers on my own next year and this channel has been very helpful ^_^ also your designs are gorgeous! next time I have the money I need to catch one of your sticker drops !!
I haven’t been able to watch much yt lately cause uni is destroying me but whenever I have some time your videos are so comforting and wholesome to watch, I love seeing you grow and I’m so glad you’re getting more sponsor opportunities, the stickers turned out awesome ˙ᵕ˙
You can make the registration marks smaller in the software so you can print more stickers to a page. Also if you make the outside cutline another color than red you can just select that color to cut and you don’t have to go through all your stickers to unclick the cut line. Saves some more time and paper!
@@sketchesofshay I never calibrated my Silhouette, and I have been using them since 2012... not the same machine of course but still... I sometimes had to try a couple of times to read the marks but mostly it worked just fine, so I can't really answer that question.
Ive had one for like 2 years when i was trying to make stickers but got super frustrated with it because it would incorrectly read the registration marks. I will have to give it a try again
u are a life safer XD i was struggling with messed up cutting lines and i used to put stickers against this registration line....so that's why some of them were failed with calibration OH >_
thank you so much!! I really appreciate that! I have been kinda all over the place with my content lately so it feels nice to know the variety is appealing!
Loved the video! I just wanted to give a tip about silhouette studio's caution sign. In case you keep getting this caution sign regardless of how HD your artworks are, I recommend downgrading the studio software version to 4.4.945. It completely fixed my issue with that caution sign.
Then for the registration marks wasting too much space on the paper, you can adjust the settings to be length: 0.197 ; Thickness: 0.50 ; Inset: 0.394 (this might differ based on your paper size). It should increase the amount of space you can have on the page so you can fit more stickers in :D This drove me crazy for months until I realized this hahaha. Hope this helps!
@@sketchesofshay Oh darn! That's a good question. I've had times where the machine has had trouble reading the marks, sometimes I just do a mix of fixes ranging from the ff: 1. Restarting the Machine (Usually does the trick for me) 2. Flashing a light right above the sensor as it detects the registration mark 3. Doing a manual registration using the arrow buttons So far, just doing any of these usually helps me out but if nothing works out, best to stick to the original settings. Really sorry if these don't help out that much.
I recently just found out about your account, and this has been so informative and interesting! I'd love to open my own shop eventually when I have more of an audience, so this definitely makes me feel so much more comfortable when it comes to stickers. Thank you so much!! 💕💐
They look slick and super nice! Water proof? I have been considering a printing set up, but right now I wait till Sticker Mule has a sale. I teach yoga, and make random stickers for students and they gotta survive the water bottle life. Thanks!
Hello. Awesome video! I have a huge problem and was wondering if you could help? The cut will sometimes be 0.5 to 1mm off to the right or to the left randomly, and sometimes it’s perfectly centered. It’s no glossy. The calibration is perfectly centered and the lenght of the line too. I have the 5.02 for Portrait 3. Is that the latest firmware update? I tried finding the information on websites but couldn’t find anything.
hi and thanks for this tutotrial that already helped a lot ! I got an issue tho, as we can't extract our files as png or jpg. is there a way to make them go CMJN through de software ? im scared of my colors when printing right via the silhouette software
Thank you for such a useful video! I'm about to upgrade to silhouette from hand cutting and it answered a few questions i had. One question, if its okay - what kind of sticker paper do you use and what weight (thickness) is it? I'm testing out some options and would love to have a point of reference from someone a bit more experienced hahah
Been using the portrat 3 but sometimes it doesn’t cut according to the outline. Not sure why, have you experienced this too? Also are you using the latest software version for silhoutte portrait studio?
I have a cricut. They did an update to the calibration so I did the calibration to the new standard but it was still cutting funky. even after carefully placing the images and such it doesn’t cut well 😩
My first time cutting with this thing it ended up slicing the top margin of the sticky mat and since then I've just put sheets in without it. Would you possibly know why that would happen?
hey! could you tell me what version update you use ;_; when i try to print my file silhouette turns the image quality low and the colors are washed out...
Hi, I just got my own silhoutte for stickers and theres this invisible border around my sticker and It wont let me cut the actual border for my stickers 😔 is there anyway to fix?
I have a cricut explore air and I do wish I had gotten a silhouette instead because of the issue I've had with the machine. I cuts well and the software it very easy to use. My problem lies with how I can't use more of the page, I'm left with a lot of paper scraps the easily could've fir a few more stickers. Also, with my machine, if I add laminate on top it will not read the registration marks and thus will not cut. I have to cut out the holographic laminate to fit within the markings or else it won't work. So, I end up wasting both my normal sticker paper but also the laminate on top.
My silhouette sometimes struggles with glitter laminates as well but not the holo that I use! I'd say your best bet may be selling your cricut (maybe on facebook marketplace or something) and try a silhouette portrait. You get way more stickers and it reads laminates better.
I've watched this video 3 times and you dont say or link what kind of sticker paper you suggest. It makes a big differance. I have so much sticker paper I purchased thats useless. I want a small shine but not glossy. Great video and I use silouette programs.
As someone with autism who can sometimes be started or easily distracted by loud unpleasant noises thank you for the warning of the machine being loud
