YOU MUST MAKE THIS RECIPE!!!! Forget about that store-bought stuff. This recipe is so simple and soooo addicting. Do you make Nuts & Bolts at your house? If so, how does your recipe differ?
Have you ever tried to make a Yule log (chocolate). When I was a kid, I always wanted to and never did until I was in my 30s, then I did it quite frequently. It's one of those things you get better at the more you do it.
Some other recipes I've always wanted to try are sponge toffee, peanut brittle and black licorice, I don't think they're too difficult I just haven't got around to it. Another I want to try is homemade marshmallows, I was trying to make divinity fudge a couple of times and neither worked. One time the final result was Fluff, the other time it was nougat, I suppose if I tried a third time I'd get marshmallow, which is just about in the middle :) The mistake I made was using spreadable margarine from a tub (too much water) you should use butter or the old time margarine
I think I will
My family has been making this since the 1950s. No oil though, always butter! Thanks for sharing!
I remember my great-great-aunt bringing this to hour house at the holidays. I've always loved it. And butter.....wow! What is the quantity? I may have to give your version a try when we make it AGAIN this weekend! LOL
WELCOME TO MY CURLS 1 and 1/2 sticks butter, melted (3/4 cup). Use salted butter. Butter is the only way to go. I think you will love it.
@@sassyt1545 I am going to make them your way this weekend!! Sounds delish!
WELCOME TO MY CURLS Yay! Let me know that you and the fam think of the buttery goodness. 😉
We always use butter! Sooo good! Plus I add extra Worcestire sauce with every toss.
My mom has always made this every year for as long as I can remember. around the holidays. She uses butter instead of oil. My family calls it Chex Mix and we all love it!
My mom always used a combination of melted butter and bacon grease!
I know this is an older video but had to find it bc I couldn't remember the amounts from memory. Boy, you were spot on about how it makes the house smell wonderful! Thx!
We had the same Christmas tradition making Nuts and Bolts (that's what we also called them) on the east coast of Canada. You have basically the same recipe, except when I was a kid (I'm older than you) we used Shreddies. Later, I found that Chex worked better as they held more flavour. I think peanuts (or other nuts) in the recipe is the best part because of the different chewy crunch compared to the other ingredients. I think making brown butter (what we used) would enhance the flavour moreso than oil. We would put the butter and fresh garlic in a large Dutch oven to infuse before adding the mix. I think it adds more depth. of flavour I was never a big fan of pretzels but they are part of the traditional basic recipe we both used. Some good addons are BBQ Ringolos (not sure what their US equivalent is), broken up Doritos, a small crunchy Cheezie (Cheetos?), BBQ Fritos and Bugles (not all at once) :) When done we would store them in large glass pickle jars my brother got from the tavern next door.
looks delicious, going to make this with Emeril's hot sauce this Christmas Eve. Thanks for sharing!
Ooooo that sounds delish!
Laeta confirmatio!
love these - this is what we called them as a kid - so much better than Chex Mix - love this
I'm going to bring in 2022 with nuts and bolts (using butter)! Thanks, YOU-ALL from Chicago, IL USA
we like it with butter, worcester and garlic powder. very delish!
very entertaining video 4 sure, my mom always made nuts and bolts, I’m going to try BBQ party mix from Ricardo’s Sheet Pan everything but make some minor changes and see how it turns out. Thx for posting, John from North Van
I love making this anytime , but more so during the holidays (Christmas and New Years). Most recipes I have found do not have shreddies, I use them as well, they really hold onto the worcestershire sauce, garlic, and onion powder
Thanks for sharing, going to definitely make this.
Merry Christmas!
Looks amazingly yummy! Merry Christmas! Also lovin' the T shirt! 🎄
Thanks Terry!!!!! So glad to hear you love the tee. Happy Holidays!
We always made Chex Mix, using butter, peanuts, Worcestershire, & seasoned salt. Can't imagine it with oil. I think I'll use cashews & add some hot sauce to my chex mix next time. Sounds delicious.
I will make it for my daughters Christmas party! Thanks for the idea and recipe!
That's a fantastic idea!!! Everyone will love it. And....I have another video coming out in a few days showing another oh-so-yummy SWEET TREAT family recipe. It's one of my favorite things EVER! Stay tuned!
Thank you😋🌹🌿
HI! Here we are done with the Christmas tree, curtains and lights. Tanks for sharing your preparations. Every thing looks so nice. I've got today my grey hair printed tees from your store and I love them. Tanks so much for your card and everything. 💙🤗😘

Oh girl. You ain’t a kiddin’! My first ever shot at Nuts & Bolts is on their last 30min in the oven and my house smells amazing. I can’t wait to snack on this….tomorrow when I finally break my fast. 😂. I only had garlic powder 🤦🏼♀️ so I added 1/2t of salt….fingers crossed but I’m guessing it’ll still be alright. 😉
This stuff is addicting. I’ve made this 3 times in the last couple months !
Definitely going to make this, the only thing we'll do differently is use butter instead of oil.
Yum Yum...healthier than a bag of potato chips I think! will try this with my kids. Now I gotta go clean the snow off my car to get these ingredients! Thank u for sharing...greetings from snowy Montreal!
Gosh! You must have a ton of snow! You will enjoy making this with your kids. It's super easy and they can participate. And you will be addicted!
I’ve not heard of this before! Sure looks good!
It's a great holiday snack :)
I made this with the Fire Cracker sauce .
Looks delicious!!!
Hello I just found your channel:) Love your hair!!!! Thank You for the recipe!!!!!
You are so welcome! I have another great recipe video coming out next week with a sweet treat. Stay tuned!
Thankyou for the recipe 👍
You are so welcome!!! Have fun and enjoy!
Thanks for this recipe, will try. I also see peanuts and cashews. How much of the nuts do you use?
I just eyeball it honestly.....but if I had to estimate, it's probably 1/3 cup of cashews/nuts
This is definitely happening. Adding the ingredients to my shopping list right now! I never heard it called Nuts & Bolts! BTW, I love your comfy well-loved sweater with the hole and run in it... keeping it real!! ;)
oooo.....let me know how you like the Nuts & Bolts!
Oh and.....I have a video coming out next week with another family favorite recipe. And it's for a sweet treat! Stay tuned!
Great job could you use canola oil🤩
Absolutely!!
I like this healthier version, not too much oil & no animal fat. Instead of hot sauce, could I use chili powder or paprika? I don't like "hot."
Yes use butter not oil …Made these in Home economics in middle school..
I thought my family were the only people who referred to this treat as Nuts and Bolts. My sister makes it every year and I try to avoid it!
Why are you avoiding it? Eat, eat, eat the Nuts & Bolts!
How do you store them ?
Store in an airtight container or zip bag.....just like you would store regular cereal or pretzels :)
No pollux yet...20 days and count...
Pollux game life changer.
Best regards...back to the future, jaja
th main ingredient was always nutri grain for us.
OMG . You are HAF !!
No butter?? Shocking. Good vid though
