Why is U.S. & Germany Provoking Putin? w/MIT Prof Ted Postol

  • The U.S. Army is deploying one of its new long-range missile forces to Europe, where they will be capable of targeting Moscow itself. The Army will deploy the missiles to Germany by 2026, arming a new multi-domain task force that blends both air defense and land attack missiles.
    The move is in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but was made possible by an epic blunder by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

    When Putin first came to power, in his very first speech to the world he said NATO was created as a bulwark against the Soviet Union. But the old Soviet Union no longer exists, the Warsaw Pact has also been disbanded. Is it now not time to creat a new security agreement for the whole of Europe an agreement that also includes Russia, or if not then let Russia join NATO. But it fell on deaf NATO ears, was that an unreasonable request?.

    • @williammasselink
      @williammasselink 2 месяца назад

      Russia needed to QUALIFY to join NATO. It's the same for ALL candidate countries. Meet the requirements and get voted in. Did they even formally apply? Russia and Putin have shown their still an aggressive, expansionist Soviet Union in a different guise with a different dictatorship. That's why NATO is still needed to maintain peace in Europe and prevent more Ukraines (and Chechnyas and Georgias). A leopard doesn't change its spots just because it's called something else.

      Going to get worse, once you get to see Mark Rutte as the secretary general. I have been following Dutch politics the past two decades. Seen him develop from straight out denying and lying, going to "not having an active memory on things". His scary fake smile. Showing over and over who he serves and who not. How he does. He is perfect for nato. To be the posterboy of everything wrong with the current, to be the last one before NATO ends, or imo better, becomes what it is suposed to be. Perfect to get the public completely fed up and demand change.

    I would like Professor Postal to see if he can find new data on the replacement Early warning sat system they now use that is made of Tundra or EKS (Edinaya Kosmicheskaya Sistema). I have heard they began replacing their old system a decade ago and it requires 4/6 Sattelites in the constellation to have a full coverage. it still uses the Molniya Orbit like it's predecessor, the Oko-1 system.. The company that made it claims it does give look-down capability. Of course the news announcements are in Russian. The Russians May not be as blind as Professor Postal's information suggests. 6 sattelites are planned for orbit and as of 2020 there were 4. So they may have 6/6 now for their new constellation
