Around 1:15:00 or shortly thereafter, the Professor comments that his Chinese counterparts wont talk to him about the development of their early warning technological breakthroughs. I want to point out that it seems Prof. Postol has no issue discussing American strategic defense capabilities with the Chinese, but they won’t return the favor? Sounds like a one way street to me. Curious. I really enjoyed hearing him talk though, and I’m happy I found this channel today. This was one of the most interesting and intriguing talks I have heard on RUclips. I learned a lot. I’d love to hear the good professor and Dr. Peter Pry on together, to talk strategic deterrence and defense.

Neither side will talk about their technological capabilities, unless its already known.

Prof. Postol took pains to make it clear that he only discusses things with the Chinese that he has already said publicly. Clearly, he and the Chinese will not discuss “classified” technological breakthroughs for obvious reasons.

I guess you could ask anyone in congress senate or the prez himself to explain Nuclear power and it's effects. And NO ONE could give you a close-to reality answer. So why, i ask myself, should THEY decide what to do with it? Isn't that the definition of incompetence?

Unfortunately he won't acknowledge why incompetence is now the norm, the ideology requires it.

Always enjoy hearing from an expert.
I don't know when this interview was recorded, but I think Ted Postol is overestimating Western "intelligence" concerning the war in Ukraine.
I'm mainly thinking of the effectiveness of the Javelin's (spelling?) ability as an effective anti-tank weapon and/or weather this was a miscalculation of Putin (it probably was to some degree -how much provocation can Putin take) and if so how big!
With that said, I can't quantity my objections. Both sides are using T72-tanks, it's hard to tell weather it was Russian or Ukrainian tanks that had exploded + how many have been destroyed and what took them out?
There's been so much propaganda videos in this war - I trust nothing unless verified. I have seen several videos of Ukrainian infantry shooting guided anti-tank missiles hitting tanks -> smoke erupting from the tank -> end of video.
At first glance you think: infantry took out a tank and got away scott free!
When you're shown the entire video you discover that the tank was able to still manoeuvre and shoot back + several more tanks joines the fight, most likely killing the infantry (my interpretation). My conclusion, a video of a successful launch doesn't equate a catastrophic-kill!
Concerning Putins action's what was his alternative? Think from his perspective!
I think the war in Ukraine is a imperialist war (by Lenin's definition). Oligarchs and/or big financial interests fighting against each other. There is also national security interests/IR paired with the civil war in Ukraine (since 2014) and internal Russian political reasons!
Maybe President Putin thought a short war (like 2014) would take the focus away from internal problems?
The initial Russian strategy (going easy on infrastructure) suggests they thought surrounding Kiev would be enough.
    It didn't work, people resisted.
On the other hand it seems clear to me that Russia has been preparing for this war since at least early 2021 and that it has taken preemptive actions to mitigate the sanctions.
Putin still enjoy a popular support in Russia.
With that said I'm no military expert nor do I support the war.
    I think it's very dangerous.
All attempts at diplomacy ought to be tried.
    Stop the war Now!
    No weapons to Ukraine!
    Very good video!

Very good questions. My additional question to Ted would be what does he mean by Putin’d strategic mistake? Mistake means that something is not going according to plan. What was the plan?

@@velizhan He's very acknowledgable but as a professor esp in his field and background, you still have to take things with a grain of salt for political reasons. The same with Chomsky who is very respectable even if you disagree. There are lines they can't cross.
Eg he speaks of the commander-in-chief, in this case Biden who I'm willing to bet doesn't call the shots in the event of an imminent nuclear war.
