    Absolutely love the video I’ve struggled with this exact invasion in my own games, great edit and lovely channel

      This comes from an entire video course on invasions by the way.

    thanks for the vid. I've had both white stones die in situations similar to 5:18 so many times, this is very helpful!

    I would really appreciate a course explaining how the ponuki translates to so many points

      A course would be too much but we might think about making a lesson about it. Thanks for the suggestion =)

    Would love to see a video about the value of a ponnuki. I've never quite understood it.

    Hi, what board and pieces do you use in your videos? Looking for a set, but not sure what to get :)

      Look at Yellow Mountain Imports. I've got the 0.8" reversible board and (importantly!!) the really nice double sided Yunzi stones with bowls. Not a cheap set, but a beautiful one! The real Yunzi stones are soooo much nicer than plastic melamine!

      What we are usingis very hard to put together. Bowls from NihonKiin, stones from Korea, board from China

    At 1:14 you talk about the ponnuki. I get your point about its value. But in this case, why can't B simply respond here with an atari above...forcing W to fill (in gote) or allowing B to take and then filling its after W moves elsewhere? If B takes, the ponnuki is destroyed. If W fills, is the ponnuki still as powerful? Kinda "thick", isn't it??

      @zalanmakany2770 11 месяцев назад

      good thinking, the point is that white will never respond to the Atari, and the white stones are still quite strong, so in the beginning white played an invasion in a territory where they are weaker, and got out with amazing and light shape, while black got hardly any points, not to mention white has sente.
      if you think about it even after the Atari it's impossible to attack white, since it's thick and thus will help at other parts of the board
      I hope it's understandable, if not feel free to ask .D

      If you atari and take, you spend two moves locally while white get two moves for free. The remaining white stone is still not dead. Atari and taking will give white more than 30 free points for sure.

      It might surprise you to hear that I’ve seen Dan and professional players say the same or similar things after years invested and thousands of matches under their belt.
      This game has a seemingly infinite skill ceiling, the human mind is never going to solve Go, and that’s part of the beauty of it.

      Cheer up! Go is not about being smart, it's about learning the right techniques.
