Chicago Half Marathon 2023

Chicago Half Marathon. Part 2 of the Chicago Distance Series. What a race! I live fairly close to Chicago so I could have driven in on Sunday but to make things easier we stayed Schaumburg which is only a 30-minute drive to the parking garage on Taylor Street. I should have arrived at the course around 5:15 in the morning. Plenty of time to pick up my bib, and jump into my corral. This didn’t go as planned for me and hundreds of other runners. I found myself caught in an unexpected traffic jam at the exit to the parking garage. I sat in line for over an hour not knowing what was going on until there was an update on Facebook. The race was delayed by 15 minutes because of issues with parking. I finally made it to the parking garage, jumped on the bus, and ran to the race day packet pick up. It was, hot, it was humid, but I still finished with a decent time. It wasn’t my goal time, but it let me know what I am capable of! Every one who worked and volunteered at the race - THANK YOU. Especially to the person who helped me get my race BIB together, and then took my items over to gear check so I could get to the race in time!
