@@ual002 same here if you don't mind getting the game from ste@m it is less than 10 bucks you get the download of IL2 1946 and its yours to download on any computer that you have a ste@m account on. Just remember to change your ste@m version to 4.12 from the games property tab betas, then mod it all you want.
Great tutorial man, you're awesome! They allready explain it very well and clear but it's nice to see someone do it too so you feel more confident doing all the things you need to do in order. I'm soooo excited to play this you can't even believe! I knew IL-2 1946 is awesome, I wanted to play it again after I played the vanilla version when I was 8 or so, because there are so many planes and I could fly the P-80, those very early jets no other sim has. I didn't know there was a modding community like this that makes 50gb mod packs that just brings the game to this godlike status, I mean.. you don't really need anymore sims after installing this, such a great value, omg.

I would recommend this to everyone that wants to start out with sims and anyone that wants to fly all the legendary planes/learn about them because you can't fly them in any other! The multiplayer is lacking but I don't play multiplayer so that doesn't bother me that much. Do you know if there are graphics mods in the pack or does the graphics extender mod work with this?
Thank you for the tutorial Sir - I started playing IL2 before it became IL2 1946 - I remember my first update came on a CD on a PC magazine. I have installed IL2 1946 again (steam as I could not find my old CDs). And I am going to be flying some Vietnam airplanes (F-100, F-105 etc. as I wait for these aircraft to make it into DCS).

All is well though and I will be off to dig up my much beloved Cactus Campaign from ages ago. You can buy IL2 1946 at Ste@m for less that ten bucks, and mod it up to be one of the best flight sims for WW2 and beyond thanks to the guys at SAS. I hope this Tutorial encourages new players to give the game a try.

When I was extracting these 13 zips to my IL-2 folder, i got just on end ,,error message: permission denied (of zip 13). i turned off my antivirus but nothing happen. It is neccesery to have compressed zips instead of classic zip archives. Or is it something in Winrar app?

It is some work to update the game but well worth it. The stand alone game was top notch in its day. Dedicated developers continue to update the game we are so fortunate.
back in the days of SAS modact, i used to have 10 instances of IL-2 1946 installations for the different mods....literally 100s of gigs of hard drive space just for the game....
This is installing right now for the BAT. Do I also need VP modpack? I see you playing with that too. Don't know if that has any conflicts it could create with BAT or if they share a dependency to a file and ruin the load order and cause me a crash :c Have a sweet rig to be playing IL2 1946 so stoked to see this frame rate lol. What is it locked to?
B.A.T. is stand alone. So is VP I run both seperately for different reasons. They can only be modded with 4.12m versions of the game. Oh the FPS counter was from my Nvidia Shadowplay. Back to B.A.T. Red Core it is the start the game mod continues up to Flash Point it is all the information is at the SAS web sight from the link in the last reply. Many changes and SAS has a crew that still works on the game!

u should be able to but its best to have a copy in case you corrupt your game folder. Modding il2 can go wrong quite easily and it is a pain if you have to reinstall everything
Dude, in the video you say that we need to download the 4_12_2 version and then install the bat mode. For the latest update to the bat mode, should I continue by downloading the 4_12_2 version in the same way or should I download it by doing the current (none) on Steam? I would be glad if you could help, thanks.
tried to download it but it said BAT-v4.0_06.zip damaged. and it tells me to abort launch i tried to remove file 6 and re-download it but it still happends, anything else i can try?
Thanks for the guide. I played Il2 for years and recently looked into a modern equivalent but Il2 still got recommended even in 2021, 15 years later! My old joystick still works! So it's great that there are so many models, aircraft and maps to try but.....what else has changed in the game? You don't mention anything else that's been modded except added models. In fact, after a successful installation and a little gameplay, I experience practically zero difference in gameplay from the original game!! What am I missing please?!
Tim i think you summed things up pretty good. Game play is what it is with a few slight adjustments made to the A.I. the difference is new aircraft too many to count additional objects ships and aircraft paint schemes. More detailed maps for mission builders. The game offers endless scenarios to mission builders and if you are not one you can go the the SAS web site or Missiion4 today and download single missions and campaigns. Welcome back to the game!

Roblox make sure when the installer opens and then place the path of the game directory where the installer will place the mod files into. Example C: IL2 1946 (the base game files) install to that location

Open the games conf file at the top under windows make sure your monitors screen resolution number values match your monitors if not just type them in save and restart your game.

The extracting the files should not delete any IL2 files only overwrite some and place new ones in #WAW mod file. Copy and paste commands also do not delete files unless a move command was used. The advantage of using ste@m is that you can always down load the base IL2 version of the game.

last time i installed certain planes would turn pink and spawn in the void and have only one camera angle and it creeped me out, is there any way to prevent this?
Correcting the plane colors is found here under DYNAMIC LINK LIBRARIES www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=65026.0 , just download the two DLL files and replace them in your main game folder it is ok to overwrite. The aircraft that you are have problems in the void may be corrected by selecting the same plane say in the quick mission builder and selecting a different air force example a US Navy Wildcat F4F has issues select the same aircraft and try Royal Navy and see if the problem is resolved. de select aircraft markings or try other skins. Let me know if this helps.

Probably a dumb question but I got the VP modpack and it seems to run fine on windows 10 with integrated chipsets. I think it's got 1024 ram, would bat run decently on it?
Douglas I was gonna ask: I got BAT patched to 3.8.5; I don't fly on line and I don't care about a lot of 'new' objects, new skins or correct cockpits I only care if we got new aircraft to fly or shoot down or maybe a 'flak vehicle' to ride around and shoot with==though a new map or new campaigns/single missions might be the icing on the cake. I eyeballed the text describing these new patches but nothing particularly interesting stands out. Given that, should I download to 4.0 & 4.1?
@@matulopez5347 ah so just in case the future upgrades DO have new planes/vehicles/maps etc, I might as well upgrade the game. OK, then I'll add it on.
I just did, and I think it is ok because it looks like the guys at SAS are implementing a new update system more efficient than the expansions were. However if you like your game were it is at stay there. I do not think it is a must have upgrade.
@@callsignnictmere465 A new upgrade system? Sounds like the BF2 mod 'Forgotten Hope'! The mod will search for a new update every time you start up and install it if you want it==makes things much easier for a non tech adept as myself.

@@callsignnictmere465 Nope that’s not the issue difficulty is set to show clouds I’m getting the cloud shadows on the ground and when I fly through where the cloud level is set up at I get the effect. They’re pretty much invisible

Hey, thanks for the great and simple video. I followed your instructions and it seems to have worked however when I open the mod, only a portion of the screen shows. Specifically the top left of the screen. I adjusted my resolution to my screen so do you have any other ideas of what it could be?
If your screen resolution matches your monitor in the config.ini go back into config.ini open it near the top see if you can change the: saveaspect=1 or saveaspect=0 I think that should do it. Let me know if it helps.

My computer defaults to 125% view so I just had to back out and set to 100%, open the game, then switch back to 125 and it works perfect. Thanks for a great tutorial! Hello! First of all thanks for the awesome tutorial. I'd love to play the BAT mod and followed your steps but at one point it just doesn't work: When I select for example the "Dawn of Flight" in IL-2 Selector it starts the game but when I click 'Quick mission builder' in the main menu it just stops responding. When trying to load 'World at War' the game doesn't even start. Also tried loading the mod using JSGME.exe but I didn't see anything mentioning WAW not BAT. One thing that maybe causing this I have the SAS modpack installed :\ - its items ARE visible in JSGME.exe. If you have any advice on how to fix this and play BAT it would be highly appreciated!
BAT is a standalone mod it will not run with the SAS modpack. The start point would be iL2 1946 with the 4.12 update or mega patch then install red core over that. Let me know if you have any other issues let me know how it goes. Standing by to help.
Hi omarb go into the game files using the windows file explorer where ever you installed your game go into the main game file folder there is a file called conf open it with notepad at the very top it should look like this: [window] width=2560 width=1440 make sure the two above values match your computer monitors game screen resolution. example: width=1920 width=1080 for a standard monitor or what ever screen resolution you are running just manually type in those numbers save exit and start the game. Let me know if it runs.

I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and I'm going to make multiple copies (Which is something I should've done but didn't)

Hey Douglas just one Question: As mentioned before i've downloaded BAT and all upgrades up to the newest version but many maps look very strange.. It doesn't look smooth like in your videos, the terrain rendering distance is very low. Do you have any ideas which mod could help to make the maps look better?
Terrain render distance is an issue of your game options, not mods; in video options, select "Perfect" in the landscape menu dropdown if you can. If you can't select perfect mode, that means that either you have hardware shaders disabled in conf.ini or your computer's hardware is not able to run perfect mode. To turn on hardware shaders, open the file conf.ini in IL-2's main folder and find the section [Render_OpenGL] and find the setting "HardwareShaders" and set it to 1. If it is already set to 1 and you still cannot set landscape rendering to perfect mode, it means your computer's hardware is incompatible with perfect mode, and you will have to make do with the lower landscape rendering distance.
Hey man nice video and most of all very clear to understand! I just have one question, after I've downloaded all of the 13 + installer files and placed them in one folder, I ran the installer and it all went good until it said that there was an error with the 13th file because the permission was denied, any thoughts?

Hey man, I probably won't get a response, because this video is 2 years old but hey. I need Help, after installing the bat World at war modpack and getting everything setup like they tell you to do, I open the game setup my controls (I am on keyboard and mouse until my new hotas get's here) and I start a new german BF109 career in Kharkov region 1941. I load in and start to be greeted with no hud whatsoever, or any labels on friendly aircraft, please help, I need these to play the game because I'm lame. Any advice or help would be wonderful, thankyou!
Alt + i will bring up icons keep pressing it until you get the icon information you like. Now for the hud I think you have to go into the control settings under speed bar and map the key command i use ctl + s tap those key until you desired metrics appear. Happy flying!

Panzer make sure you place all the files in the same folder before install. I just create one then open the .exe to begin the install. I also would recommend you download the files again and run the install. Let me know how it goes.
Hey, this might be dumb asking here, but do you know a possible fix for pink planes in this pack? I had a few in the WW2 pack, but it wasn't anything much. However, when i got the jet age pack, a good bit of the jets are actually pink, and i'm not sure why. As far as i know, i installed everything correctly, had no errors or anything so i'm a bit confused.
They are dll files that conflict with video cards. In the installation instructions it is covered they have two dll files you can download and place them in your main game file directory select ok to overwrite the pink promblem will go away OR continue with BAT updates to version 4.2 or higher and the updates have the new dll files that will be installed for you.
If you are trying to fly from the quick mission builder make sure there is a date in the appropriate box if it is empty type one in and hit the fly button.
I've already got the VP Modpack installed to one of my copies, I assume I can install BAT to the same folder without any compatibility issues? I know different mods use different # folders (#WAW, etc), so I should be able to switch between VP and BAT at anytime with the selector? Or do you keep separate game directories for different mods?
It will not work as far as I know they need to be separate installs. I copied and pasted a 4.12 version from my Steam version of the game into a newly created folder then I added BAT to it, that is how I run both versions of the game.
I currently gotten a new desktop and I wanted to get another mod even though I have VP Modpack. This desktop I have is 250GB of space and I now currently have 111gb of space left. But I'm still thinking of getting bat red core. Should I get it?
absolutely I run 3 versions of the game. B.A.T. / Vpmodpack / and SAS modcat 6.4. go with B.A.T. 4.1 depending on what I want to accomplish is what version of the game I use.

@@kamasick4632 everything is ok in your QMB it probably just needs a date in the box for one it may be blank and or it need a quick mission such as red scramble or airbase attack also make sure there is a map in the map box list all of this is on the QMB start up screen. Let me know how it goes.

That kind of sucks I spend half a week last week downloading the last version bat none torrent 29 files , and then stated on the other add-ons . Must you completely re- install Bat to the latest version or can it be patched up to the new level.? Still have not had time to get it running yet though , thanks for the Video though.
Thanks for the tutorial, I installed the mod succesfully - however, once the game starts - my mouse does not work! So I can't select anything on the in-game menu and cannot play. Can you help?
Open your IL2 1946 game files and click on a file named conf open it with note pad it is just a text file scroll down to mouse=1 or mouse=2 what ever it is change the value to 1 or 2 then hit save and re start the game see if that works.

But the next problem is my screen resolution setup; my default is 2560X1440 but then the in-game screen is zoomed in too much; then, I try 1920X1080; that improves it and I can see more of the in-game screen, but still cannot see the entire screen. I recommend you use a free downloadable program called u-torrent once you install it then click on that small file u-torrent will do the rest. After you get the update files continue with the tutorial instructions. Let me know how it goes.
so, quick question, i downloaded the era expansion pack as well as RED CORE, though i cant seem to find the other categories of aircraft, as it launches in the WAW module every time, so im stuck with some interwar period stuff and world war 2 aircraft, is there something im missing?

@@jacobtvobrien9546 to make things simple I just create a new folder and name it 41 then place all the 4.1 files in there and run the extraction file. I just do it that way to reduce the chances of mixing files up. But what ever is best for you.
Red core is world at war only (WWII) all the mods and planes are installed automatically. If you continue to update you will get the selector and the jet age.
Everytime, I try to play Quick Mission when I hit fly it says "data file corrupt, so I tried selecting a map did the same thing not sure what's going on but I'm fixing to just give up on this mod..
Hey, sorry to bother you again. I have a couple questions now that I've been fiddling with the game for a couple days which I love by the way. Thank you so much! I broke the bat mod by doing reshade after. Maybe I did that wrong If I want to run bat mod and reshade is there a certain order that you stack it etc? Also key bindings. Those are kind of fun in this game. I don't know if it was because of bat mod or because of what I did but kept losing my key bindings. Didn't know if you had to work around for that or if there's a mod that you can save them to that will auto locate everything. Appreciate your help
You most likely lost your keybindings by switching pilots in career set up everytime you add a pilot the keybindings have to be updated too. Control keys set up not to interfere with the game I mapped mine to CtL + Home and CtL + End Re-shade should not conflct with your game I just use lumasharpen.fx levels.fx and vibrance.fx I am glad to hear that you like the game. Just type in your screen resolution on the monitor you use for the game. Example 1920 1080 (standard high defenition)

@@ual002 same here if you don't mind getting the game from ste@m it is less than 10 bucks you get the download of IL2 1946 and its yours to download on any computer that you have a ste@m account on. Just remember to change your ste@m version to 4.12 from the games property tab betas, then mod it all you want.
Great tutorial man, you're awesome! They allready explain it very well and clear but it's nice to see someone do it too so you feel more confident doing all the things you need to do in order. I'm soooo excited to play this you can't even believe! I knew IL-2 1946 is awesome, I wanted to play it again after I played the vanilla version when I was 8 or so, because there are so many planes and I could fly the P-80, those very early jets no other sim has. I didn't know there was a modding community like this that makes 50gb mod packs that just brings the game to this godlike status, I mean.. you don't really need anymore sims after installing this, such a great value, omg.

I would recommend this to everyone that wants to start out with sims and anyone that wants to fly all the legendary planes/learn about them because you can't fly them in any other! The multiplayer is lacking but I don't play multiplayer so that doesn't bother me that much. Do you know if there are graphics mods in the pack or does the graphics extender mod work with this?
Thank you for the tutorial Sir - I started playing IL2 before it became IL2 1946 - I remember my first update came on a CD on a PC magazine. I have installed IL2 1946 again (steam as I could not find my old CDs). And I am going to be flying some Vietnam airplanes (F-100, F-105 etc. as I wait for these aircraft to make it into DCS).
Yes update to Flashpoint then use the selector for the jet age and you are good to go.

Thanks very much Sir. This was quite painless, although I couldn't find my original IL2 1946 install code and had to purchase it again through Steam. All is well though and I will be off to dig up my much beloved Cactus Campaign from ages ago. I really loved that Campaign and look forward to flying it once more along with all the new material for BAT.

When I was extracting these 13 zips to my IL-2 folder, i got just on end ,,error message: permission denied (of zip 13). i turned off my antivirus but nothing happen. It is neccesery to have compressed zips instead of classic zip archives. Or is it something in Winrar app?

back in the days of SAS modact, i used to have 10 instances of IL-2 1946 installations for the different mods....literally 100s of gigs of hard drive space just for the game....
I remember those days well. I ran DBW HSFX VP mod pack all for different effects. Now mostly just B.A.T. Flash Point.

B.A.T. is stand alone. So is VP I run both seperately for different reasons. They can only be modded with 4.12m versions of the game. Oh the FPS counter was from my Nvidia Shadowplay. Back to B.A.T. Red Core it is the start the game mod continues up to Flash Point it is all the information is at the SAS web sight from the link in the last reply. Many changes and SAS has a crew that still works on the game!

u should be able to but its best to have a copy in case you corrupt your game folder. Modding il2 can go wrong quite easily and it is a pain if you have to reinstall everything
Dude, in the video you say that we need to download the 4_12_2 version and then install the bat mode. Thanks for the guide. I played Il2 for years and recently looked into a modern equivalent but Il2 still got recommended even in 2021, 15 years later! My old joystick still works!

You don't mention anything else that's been modded except added models. In fact, after a successful installation and a little gameplay, I experience practically zero difference in gameplay from the original game!! What am I missing please?!
Tim i think you summed things up pretty good. Game play is what it is with a few slight adjustments made to the A.I. the difference is new aircraft too many to count additional objects ships and aircraft paint schemes. More detailed maps for mission builders. The game offers endless scenarios to mission builders and if you are not one you can go the the SAS web site or Missiion4 today and download single missions and campaigns. Welcome back to the game!

You will then have the option to install additional B.A.T. updates up to 4.1.2 let me know how it goes. I would also recommend that after you install the mega patch. Create an additional game file folder then copy and paste your mega patched game files into it for testing and continued modding. You can have as many version of the game as you like. I use VP modpack B.A.T. (of course) HSFX, and Dark Blue World depending on effects i am looking for. You cant go wrong with B.A.T. it has it all.

Roblox make sure when the installer opens and then place the path of the game directory where the installer will place the mod files into. Example C: IL2 1946 (the base game files) install to that location

Open the games conf file at the top under windows make sure your monitors screen resolution number values match your monitors if not just type them in save and restart your game.

Go into the game files look for the file named selector then click on the jet age in world at war box then re start the game.

i did exactly this and the mod ended up deleting all the actual il2 1946 files. WTF
The extracting the files should not delete any IL2 files only overwrite some and place new ones in #WAW mod file. Copy and paste commands also do not delete files unless a move command was used. The advantage of using ste@m is that you can always down load the base IL2 version of the game.

last time i installed certain planes would turn pink and spawn in the void and have only one camera angle and it creeped me out, is there any way to prevent this?
Correcting the plane colors is found here under DYNAMIC LINK LIBRARIES www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=65026.0 , just download the two DLL files and replace them in your main game folder it is ok to overwrite. The aircraft that you are have problems in the void may be corrected by selecting the same plane say in the quick mission builder and selecting a different air force example a US Navy Wildcat F4F has issues select the same aircraft and try Royal Navy and see if the problem is resolved. de select aircraft markings or try other skins. Let me know if this helps.

Probably a dumb question but I got the VP modpack and it seems to run fine on windows 10 with integrated chipsets. I think it's got 1024 ram, would bat run decently on it?
Brad with the minimum game ram required being at 512 I do not see any issues even with the VP addition. The game should run.

Douglas I was gonna ask: I got BAT patched to 3.8.5; I don't fly on line and I don't care about a lot of 'new' objects, new skins or correct cockpits I only care if we got new aircraft to fly or shoot down or maybe a 'flak vehicle' to ride around and shoot with==though a new map or new campaigns/single missions might be the icing on the cake. I eyeballed the text describing these new patches but nothing particularly interesting stands out. Given that, should I download to 4.0 & 4.1?

I just did, and I think it is ok because it looks like the guys at SAS are implementing a new update system more efficient than the expansions were. However if you like your game were it is at stay there. I do not think it is a must have upgrade.
@@callsignnictmere465 A new upgrade system? Sounds like the BF2 mod 'Forgotten Hope'! The mod will search for a new update every time you start up and install it if you want it==makes things much easier for a non tech adept as myself.

In the game set up options or mission difficulty there is a option to have clouds on or off. See if that is the issue.

Hey, thanks for the great and simple video. I followed your instructions and it seems to have worked however when I open the mod, only a portion of the screen shows. Specifically the top left of the screen. I adjusted my resolution to my screen so do you have any other ideas of what it could be?
If your screen resolution matches your monitor in the config.ini go back into config.ini open it near the top see if you can change the: saveaspect=1 or saveaspect=0 I think that should do it. Let me know if it helps.

My computer defaults to 125% view so I just had to back out and set to 100%, open the game, then switch back to 125 and it works perfect. Thanks for a great tutorial! First of all thanks for the awesome tutorial. I'd love to play the BAT mod and followed your steps but at one point it just doesn't work:
When I select for example the "Dawn of Flight" in IL-2 Selector it starts the game but when I click 'Quick mission builder' in the main menu it just stops responding. When trying to load 'World at War' the game doesn't even start.
Also tried loading the mod using JSGME.exe but I didn't see anything mentioning WAW not BAT.
One thing that maybe causing this I have the SAS modpack installed :\ - its items ARE visible in JSGME.exe.
If you have any advice on how to fix this and play BAT it would be highly appreciated!
BAT is a standalone mod it will not run with the SAS modpack. The start point would be iL2 1946 with the 4.12 update or mega patch then install red core over that. Let me know if you have any other issues let me know how it goes. Standing by to help.

Hi omarb go into the game files using the windows file explorer where ever you installed your game go into the main game file folder there is a file called conf open it with notepad at the very top it should look like this:

width=1440
make sure the two above values match your computer monitors game screen resolution. example:
width=1920
width=1080
for a standard monitor or what ever screen resolution you are running just manually type in those numbers save exit and start the game. Let me know if it runs.

just one Question: As mentioned before i've downloaded BAT and all upgrades up to the newest version but many maps look very strange..
It doesn't look smooth like in your videos, the terrain rendering distance is very low.
Do you have any ideas which mod could help to make the maps look better?
Terrain render distance is an issue of your game options, not mods; in video options, select "Perfect" in the landscape menu dropdown if you can.
If you can't select perfect mode, that means that either you have hardware shaders disabled in conf.ini or your computer's hardware is not able to run perfect mode.
To turn on hardware shaders, open the file conf.ini in IL-2's main folder and find the section [Render_OpenGL] and find the setting "HardwareShaders" and set it to 1. If it is already set to 1 and you still cannot set landscape rendering to perfect mode, it means your computer's hardware is incompatible with perfect mode, and you will have to make do with the lower landscape rendering distance.

Hey man nice video and most of all very clear to understand! I just have one question, after I've downloaded all of the 13 + installer files and placed them in one folder, I ran the installer and it all went good until it said that there was an error with the 13th file because the permission was denied, any thoughts?
Download the 13th file again replace it then try the install.

Hey man, I probably won't get a response, because this video is 2 years old but hey. I need Help, after installing the bat World at war modpack and getting everything setup like they tell you to do, I open the game setup my controls (I am on keyboard and mouse until my new hotas get's here) and I start a new german BF109 career in Kharkov region 1941. I load in and start to be greeted with no hud whatsoever, or any labels on friendly aircraft, please help, I need these to play the game because I'm lame. Any advice or help would be wonderful, thankyou!
Alt + i will bring up icons keep pressing it until you get the icon information you like. Now for the hud I think you have to go into the control settings under speed bar and map the key command i use ctl + s tap those key until you desired metrics appear. Happy flying!

go into the game files look for a file named config open it with note pad make sure the screen resolution matches your monitors, if not manfully type it in example:

save then exit and re start your game it should run.

I get to the install thing but every time it tries to install the 13th zip it gives me a error stating "Acess denied" and the retry button seems to do nothing and the ignore button just aborts the thing. Anyone know how to fix this?
Panzer make sure you place all the files in the same folder before install. I just create one then open the .exe to begin the install. I also would recommend you download the files again and run the install. Let me know how it goes.

Hey, this might be dumb asking here, but do you know a possible fix for pink planes in this pack? I had a few in the WW2 pack, but it wasn't anything much. However, when i got the jet age pack, a good bit of the jets are actually pink, and i'm not sure why. As far as i know, i installed everything correctly, had no errors or anything so i'm a bit confused.
They are dll files that conflict with video cards. In the installation instructions it is covered they have two dll files you can download and place them in your main game file directory select ok to overwrite the pink promblem will go away OR continue with BAT updates to version 4.2 or higher and the updates have the new dll files that will be installed for you.

I am very confused i did everything but i tried pressing "Fly" it's says "Data corrupt" Help!
If you are trying to fly from the quick mission builder make sure there is a date in the appropriate box if it is empty type one in and hit the fly button.
I've already got the VP Modpack installed to one of my copies, I assume I can install BAT to the same folder without any compatibility issues? I know different mods use different # folders (#WAW, etc), so I should be able to switch between VP and BAT at anytime with the selector? Or do you keep separate game directories for different mods?
It will not work as far as I know they need to be separate installs. I copied and pasted a 4.12 version from my Steam version of the game into a newly created folder then I added BAT to it, that is how I run both versions of the game.
I currently gotten a new desktop and I wanted to get another mod even though I have VP Modpack. This desktop I have is 250GB of space and I now currently have 111gb of space left. But I'm still thinking of getting bat red core. Should I get it?
absolutely I run 3 versions of the game. B.A.T. / Vpmodpack / and SAS modcat 6.4. go with B.A.T. 4.1 depending on what I want to accomplish is what version of the game I use.

@@kamasick4632 everything is ok in your QMB it probably just needs a date in the box for one it may be blank and or it need a quick mission such as red scramble or airbase attack also make sure there is a map in the map box list all of this is on the QMB start up screen. Let me know how it goes.

In the QMB setup screen see if there is a box for the date if it is blank type a date in then start the mission

That kind of sucks I spend half a week last week downloading the last version bat none torrent 29 files , and then stated on the other add-ons . Must you completely re- install Bat to the latest version or can it be patched up to the new level.?

Get a torrent extractor I use uTorrent it is free and easy to use. Open the torrent file with it and it will start the game file download.

Thanks for the tutorial, I installed the mod succesfully - however, once the game starts - my mouse does not work! So I can't select anything on the in-game menu and cannot play. Can you help?
Open your IL2 1946 game files and click on a file named conf open it with note pad it is just a text file scroll down to mouse=1 or mouse=2 what ever it is change the value to 1 or 2 then hit save and re start the game see if that works.

But the next problem is my screen resolution setup; my default is 2560X1440 but then the in-game screen is zoomed in too much; then, I try 1920X1080; that improves it and I can see more of the in-game screen, but still cannot see the entire screen. Which resolution should I be using, or is there a command in "conf.ini" that I should be using?

I recommend you use a free downloadable program called u-torrent once you install it then click on that small file u-torrent will do the rest. After you get the update files continue with the tutorial instructions. Let me know how it goes.
so, quick question, i downloaded the era expansion pack as well as RED CORE, though i cant seem to find the other categories of aircraft, as it launches in the WAW module every time, so im stuck with some interwar period stuff and world war 2 aircraft, is there something im missing?

@@jacobtvobrien9546 to make things simple I just create a new folder and name it 41 then place all the 4.1 files in there and run the extraction file. I just do it that way to reduce the chances of mixing files up. But what ever is best for you.
hmmmmmm BAT(downloaded via torrent) doesn't install the mod enabler or the selector for me. Am I missing something here?
Red core is world at war only (WWII) all the mods and planes are installed automatically. If you continue to update you will get the selector and the jet age.

Hey, sorry to bother you again. I have a couple questions now that I've been fiddling with the game for a couple days which I love by the way. Thank you so much! I broke the bat mod by doing reshade after. Maybe I did that wrong If I want to run bat mod and reshade is there a certain order that you stack it etc? Also key bindings. Those are kind of fun in this game. I don't know if it was because of bat mod or because of what I did but kept losing my key bindings. Didn't know if you had to work around for that or if there's a mod that you can save them to that will auto locate everything. Appreciate your help
You most likely lost your keybindings by switching pilots in career set up everytime you add a pilot the keybindings have to be updated too. Control keys set up not to interfere with the game I mapped mine to CtL + Home and CtL + End Re-shade should not conflct with your game I just use lumasharpen.fx levels.fx and vibrance.fx I am glad to hear that you like the game. Did you buy on steam if so the path will be wherever your steam folder is then steamapps>common>IL2 Sturmovik 1946.

go into your control options you need to map a key for info and it will show in lower left in kilometers per hour knots or mph you get to choose.
