So yet another Tribes game that is going to fail. Sigh.
Hi-Rez is a crap developer when it comes to supporting their titles for the long term. The way they handled Tribes Ascend was a clear indication of that.

in light of all the incredibly unprofessional, scummy and despicable things that happened around prophecy, or rather it's "management" side... (as there even isn't.. a publisher that's usually messing things up) seems like dunning-kruger, cognitive bias and submissive stockholms'-syndrome is now kicking in all at once right now, is it?
I guess that's why their lead went on a banning-rampage on discord during release light until the team finally damage-controlled and asked him to quit. imagine. and that's the kind of tantrum not only poor devs, but any critical/honest/respectful custom... I mean cash-cattle will experience.
you guys are so incredibly off the charts on any ethical or just objective scale. it's hard to believe. so gullible, weak without any sort of integrity, empathy or self-respect. you don't care how badly anyone is treated, including yourselves. as long as you can play your little 90$ fomo-dlc videogame. no matter what it means even for yourself and gamedev-business practices in 1-2 years.
was a very professional, concise but still very honest take: had he actually known about the craze that went on; I bet it would have been much worse. :D and rightly so.
great format. actually some of the best I've recently seen. time-invested vs. result seemed very efficient with many nails and experience-based suspicions, being spot on. very impressive.

Just a reminder the base armor you get in the transaction pack are literally the blood eagles, and the diamond swords the two waring tribe factions of every single tribes game and are quite literally default looks in the previous tribes games, you are paying money to look like the base tribe factions in the game and then win skins daily. Its all terrible fomo predatory tactics that the lead CEO and Dev saw zero issue with on release in there public discord and was actively banning people who left constructive criticsm before leaving the server entirely.
Pretty sure it's 365 logins not 365 days so it could take you 10 years. But you wouldn't miss any so not "fomo".
@@moodybuckets2385 it’s literally a year pass you have to login every single day and win a match to get every single skin your already paying for how is that no fomo or predatory in anyway? Not to mention you cannot use the base tribe skins without having this bundle purchased
I love the gameplay. But I have no faith in the developers. I sincerely hope things improve over the next few months, I'll be keeping my eye on it, but until I see that they're not gonna just try to milk the game and IP for all the money they can and then bail like they have a history of doing, they're not getting a penny from me.

Many are in the same boat as you, we gotta stop this trend of games releasing unfinished, the only way is refusing to buy / play until they're improved in order to show Devs the stage that their game is worth investing your time into
9:20 i think they said theyre just testing Denuvo out. They were using VAC i think, but switched a couple playtests before launch. Its early access so who knows how the game will end up.

One note to add, for your first games you are in either entirely or largely bot lobbies. So, having played 5 matches, you have probably not yet played with any humans.

The footage is a couple days old, I've since played more matches as I heard the first 5 had bots, and can definitely tell there are more real players now. However, this does not impact my opinion on the game haha.
Though, the bots are actually quite good/ nicely programmed, they blend in with low skilled real players.

Nice video. You mentioned the problem with the price tag is that the player would rather choose the free alternatives; what do you suggest?
Midair is the closest free game to Tribes, and they're doing frequent playtests this year! I know there's a small group of ex-tribes devs and fans coming together to make a Tribes fan game/ inspired game too, but that likely won't see any public testing for a while. And then of course, there are tons of free FPS games on the market from Arena shooters to Extraction games, Hero shooters, battle royales, etc.

Paying $70 for something you have to earn throughout a whole year is a unique kind of stupid, the likes of which I've never seen. My hopes are in Midair 2.

I am relieved this game is not "Free to Play" That platform is bullshit. I sincerely hope this game has the longevity that the original release had. I have hundreds of hours in the original release and a good amount in 2. Genuinely excited to see this game come back to life.
The game has like 60 players online, it's dead on arrival because it refused to go free to play. Nobody wants to pay for shooters in todays world
@@Nadestraight Most people end up paying more through the free to play system.
@@CmdrMoros That's fine though, becuase your onboarding as a player was free. People don't care about the total cost, they care about the initial cost to enter the experience. Free to Play and pay to look cool is the new thing, any PvP game that refuses to hop on the train likely ends being dead on arrival. I've seen it happen many times, even QA tested and promoted games that it's happened to.
@@Nadestraight this game has never been anything more then just being about getting online and shooting people in the face and having fun. It was a really cool game when it first came out and it was modable to a point. It was a friend of a friend that actually added the ski feature as a script. I think people today care more about looking good in game than actually playing the game and having fun so yeah it's probably passed its life expectancy and should just be put to rest.

They are changing the daily win system to allow 10 wins in a day rather than 1 win per day so you can get the skins faster and allow for missing days.
Changing it is good, but it's the fact they tried to get away with this in the first place. They only changed it because of backlash like this video, so I can only give them so many brownie points for this change haha
@@Nadestraight even then, most games charge $20 a skin and this is 365 skins for $40, which is $0.11 per skin, and even less per skin if you get the $60 bundle which would be $100 for everything separate. People are so jaded with micro transactions from the big comps they can't see a decent deal from a small company.
This was not a good deal at all the game is literally 20 dollars ontop of a 60 dollar skin bundle just because other games charge more for skins does not mean the monitization and obvious predatory nature of this dlc excludes them from feedback or scrutiny. It does not make people jaded its a simple fact that this dlc was made to keep player counts up and was a massive mistake considering all the backlash it has gotten them.@@bbenjamin2011

I don’t think your criticism of fps drop in game is fair to blame it on anti cheat software. It’s common in all games that the lobby don’t use much fps. It always drop in game so it’s not the anti cheat fault
Pre-match lobby refers to the waiting area where people are still flying around and shooting. But yes, as a game developer myself I know these can also be higher FPS than actual gameplay. But a 50% drop is pretty big, they could optimize for sure

Never played Ascend so I can't compare, but a lot of people say overall this game is like a bad version of Ascend
Now I have to pay money to keep playing this dead game. Wowzers.
