I love it. They stole Deuce from KISS in that song, and then KISS steals their melody for this song. Very funny but two great songs evolved out of "inspiration" haha
This song is my favorite from Sonic boom. Love it when Paul sings Gimmie life, it's like a breakthrough to all the pain he've been through. It's so amazing !
yep. you are the only one. although it does sound exactally like noting but a good time from poison. but only on the verse. none the less. this album is serious kick-ass rock. keep on rockin'.
Sonic boom sounds nothing like Rock and Roll Over. Kiss does not need to "make classic kiss albums." They need to make music that makes the band happy and enjoyable to work with.
Definitely the album´s strongest song ... Paul is just doing a fantastic work. It is very interest to see how his voice has developed through the years ...
Man I hope they play alot of these new songs on this U.S tour, & give some of the others a rest. And play some of the other songs that have never been played live. Like "magic touch" ,tomorrow and tonight, & rocking in the USA etc.... They've got alot of great songs that have never been in the set list.
anybody who thinks sammy hagar, klaus meine, rob halford, dio, this foreigner dude , etc pp (oh well...U name them...lol) are "superstar-rock singers" should listen to paul stanley singing for 35 years in an amazing quality...he is very much underrated as a rock singer!
im with ya... 30 yr kiss army member.... if you are a diehard fan, you know Paul is a HUGE fan of the the Raspberries. Yu can definitiely here " Go all the way" that in this song. LOVE IT
Actually, Poison stole that riff from KISS. If you go listen to the Alive version of "Let Me Go Rock and Roll (1975) you'll hear basically the same riff. It's well documented that KISS was a huge influence on Poison.
Give me life for the taking....give me love till I'm shaking... give me rules just for breaking..........sounds like a good way to live life............
-2 days to Air Canada Centre (Toronto).....can't wait. Guess how Frehley and Criss might feel now after they' ve surely heard Sonic Boom over and over.....thinkin'....THAT'S TRUE DOWN TO EARTH 70'S KISS!!!!!
KISS rocks again! I agree that this song sounds like Poison's "Nothing but a good time" but come on guys, KISS paved the way for all of those 80's hair bands. In addition I hear that there are some other musicians now suing Poison for stealing alot of their songs. You might as well compare KISS to the Bay City Rollers. All aside, I've been a KISS fan for over 30 years. This album is definately one of their best! I'll always be found of Ace and Peter but I think Tommy and Eric definately deliver.
Brewhead68 correction Poison sounds like Kiss. Poison were influenced by Kiss through and through. Bret Micheal even had Paul Stanley on stage for a song or two over the years.
You´re right! I was going to comment this but you beat me to it. In fact, I read an interview many years ago where either Bret or CC mention exactly this! That is was a tribute to Deuce! So there you go: you scratch my back...
@juampiiubi07 Exactly. NBAGT was definitely inspired by Deuce, and it's safe to say that KISS had a huge impact on Poison, and helped shape them - both image-wise and musically. Same message - make sure it's loud, make sure it's a party.
The thing is that poison loves KISS. Infect in ain't nothin but a good time, in the beginning of the music video Rock and roll all nite is being played on the backround.
Definitely similar to Poison's Nothing But A Good Time. Their costumes are basically hybrids of Destroyer and Love Gun, with a little bit of Hotter Than Hell and Alive.

All I can say is that you hear things. Many bands are influenced by others, if you think "sound-alikes" is stealing, then you don't understand music. It's an upbeat guitar and drums, I'm sure if you listen to a song enough you'll pick up some similarities. It's called Rock 'n roll, stop trying to be a sage and just have fun. Eh who cares I guess it's all rock and roll in the end. I'm gonna buy one copy of this cd and another for my dad this album sounds that good, this whole album only has one song that's filler in my opinion and that's "When lightning strikes". Can't wait.
