Who could possibly dislike this? Both versions of the song are great. I agree the original lineup was better than the current lineup, but that's no reason to hate the re-recordings of the original lineup's songs.
In my humble opinion, Paul's vocal's on the original are the best he ever achieved on a recording and credit for Eddie Kramer for capturing such a brilliant vocal...he sounded hungry, desperate, wild...all the things that good rock n roll has. This version is ok, but his vox just don't sound as urgent.
I'm lean toward the mix on Smashes Trashes and Hits, because they stop singing the chorus so we can hear the solo, but this version sounds a lot more energetic.
I personally like the Smashes, Thrashes and Hits version. It doesn't have Paul's voice in the solo, just fades out when the solos starts. Don't get me wrong, this version is good too,
@livinglandmine There are royalties as to actual recordings, not just the written songs themselves. The reason for re-records have nothing to do with showing anything.
@Atreyufolife No. It has no effect on Ace and Peter's ability to re-record. The effect is that they can't collect recording rights money from the original recorded tracks when re-records are played. Also, KISS sold off the copyrights (the songs as written) long ago. KISS retained a license to use the songs. In fact most of the compilation albums from the nineties had nothing to do with KISS and were put on the market bu the copyright holders.
for the 7 ppl that don't like the remake of this song must really love it, or must not have been a TRUE die hard Kiss fan to begin w/, but as for me i'm a TRUE Kiss fan since day one n i'll be a TRUE die hard Kiss fan till the day i die
It's funny, when I was ten,I recognized a great band who put on a great show. Now that I'm forty five,I recognize two washed up dirt bags living off of people they claim they couldn't stand to have in the band.
Ace was great, but Peter had to go. He wasn't a good drummer. Eric Singer was the perfect replacement. Tommy is also a great guitar player, but he tries to sound like Ace too much.
haha no way....the heart and soul of the originals were drained out of these re-records. Eric sucks on these especially....why is he playing the Detroit Rock City beat through the whole song???
Nice try but no.....call me a classic-ass but I stick with the amazing Original Versions, especially because Paul was singing much sharper and yeah......Ace & Peter.....I repeat u might call me old but there's nothing like that original KISS Sound
@955472 So they can basicaly keep the songs for themselves and then Ace and Pete have no rights to re-record sneak jews Stanely Eisen and Chaim Witz are.
The drums sound compressed and weak. Thumbs down. Can't beat Ace on a Les Paul through a Plexi. Can't beat it. Paul sounds all grovely Yyyyyhaaaahh... : ( Stop trying to erase the memory of ACE, the band's most popular icon.
Wow Hotter Than Hell sounds so Different! Almost like love gun... Wait what
As if Paul was singing both songs
I like it.. I think the sound is clearer and refreshed
i think it sounds pretty damn good, its got more of a fuller sound but thats my opinion i guess
I agree!
damn right it sounds fuller! HELL YEAH! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!
Amazing!
@MaruskaEstudios i think the best version of love gun was on smashes, thrashes and hits, in 1988. the drums on that track do it for me.
Who could possibly dislike this? Both versions of the song are great. I agree the original lineup was better than the current lineup, but that's no reason to hate the re-recordings of the original lineup's songs.
Because they all sound far too overproduced?
In my humble opinion, Paul's vocal's on the original are the best he ever achieved on a recording and credit for Eddie Kramer for capturing such a brilliant vocal...he sounded hungry, desperate, wild...all the things that good rock n roll has. This is great and slightly heavier. The original is more ominous and has an almost haunting vibe that is pure magic.
Even though Ace played amazing on the Original, for me this solo is just better, it is clearer and I just prefer it over the og, in my opinion
KISS COSTUME CHANGE! ACTIVATE!
I understood that reference
YEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH
This is my favorite of all the re-recordings. So much harder than the original.
i like this more than the original. it is heavier
I'm lean toward the mix on Smashes Trashes and Hits, because they stop singing the chorus so we can hear the solo, but this version sounds a lot more energetic.
@Warchief01 i like the Black Diamond re record, every kiss drummer that has done it sounds good
I personally like the Smashes, Thrashes and Hits version. It doesn't have Paul's voice in the solo, just fades out when the solos starts. Don't get me wrong, this version is good too,
@livinglandmine There are royalties as to actual recordings, not just the written songs themselves. The reason for re-records have nothing to do with showing anything.
This version is tight! Eric Singer makes this one.
I like the backing vocals more on this one, but I probably still prefer the original.
Agreed. Despite what fans say about him, Eric Singer puts up great background vocals
Almost identical to the original, but Paul can't sustain the falsetto at the end.
This sounds alot better then the original, Better quality, better vocal ranges
Better Quality
Not a patch on the origanal

Sounds like a group of music teachers. All the swagger is gone.
In this video they are in there sixties give em a break
they sound like the stone sour cover here
the hunter agreed
No. Stone Sour did it later. Maybe they got inspired. You wanted the best, You got the best. The hottest band in the world... KISS!!!
Somehow Stone sour does a better cover of this song than kiss did here lol
1,000th view ftw
they didn't put enough oomph into the re-records
They did they’re just older. If they had Tommy and Eric play at full potential and not sing in falsetto it would be perfect
I think this version better than original.
It's funny, when I was ten,I recognized a great band who put on a great show. Now that I'm forty five,I recognize two washed up dirt bags living off of people they claim they couldn't stand to have in the band.
Fuck Ace Frehley
Ace was great, but Peter had to go. He wasn't a good drummer. Eric Singer was the perfect replacement. Tommy is also a great guitar player, but he tries to sound like Ace too much.
@Matlike1 and you lack intel
2 things.
1. Anyone else think the final lineup sounds better?
2. Does it say hotter than hell for anyone else?
Drums are not sounding too good
Not close to the original. I'm sorry.
haha no way....the heart and soul of the originals were drained out of these re-records.
Eric sucks on these especially....why is he playing the Detroit Rock City beat through the whole song???
Say what you want about Eric and Tommy, Paul's voice is money, and more money
Not bad, but totally unneccessary ! I think that they just needed to show that they can still pull it off !
Nice try but no.....call me a classic-ass but I stick with the amazing Original Versions, especially because Paul was singing much sharper and yeah......Ace & Peter.....I repeat u might call me old but there's nothing like that original KISS Sound
classic ass 🤭
@rakyaband You're right.These redoes suck.
@955472 So they can basicaly keep the songs for themselves and then Ace and Pete have no rights to re-record sneak jews Stanely Eisen and Chaim Witz are.
This sound so ugly original I way better
