For me it's the Aussie 12's reaction where he's screaming at Foley to kick the ball to touch and then is annoyed/angry at Foley when referee blows to award the scrum.
Without a doubt, with Nic White leading the charge! The game is the game and you can’t blame the player, but at some point the line gets crossed and something like this happens…
When Aussie critics mention this to decide if Raynal was wrong or right. They neglect to show this footage to try and appease themselves that they are right in their minds that the ref was wrong. Then Wholly Foley lies just to cover his own ass. Boy you fugged up!
ps: every commentator below needs to actually time the time taken between this ball being (about to be) put in touch and every other penalty in international and provincial rugby, and then perhaps they wont be quite as smug...
Hang on buddy, the key to this is consistency. I can find innumerable examples of longer times taken to enact penalties when it didn't matter, including in this game. The fact is that Raynal blew his whistle as Foley was approaching the kick. So does he believe that fractions of seconds matter, or was he feeling angry he was being being disrespected? His comment to to White at the end of the match was along the lines of "You think I'm incompetent, now you know". Not exactly the words of an impartial professional. Certainly Foley could've just got on with it, but in 45 years of playing and watching rugby, that's the first time I've seen that happen, and the worst decision I've ever witnessed.
A very fair point friend. I can’t argue with that! The only counter I have is that to set a new standard you have to break the previous consistency. The only way the decision would stand is if more referees penalised time wasting. Either way this situation could have been managed a lot better as although Foley had already taken too much time (legally speaking) he was only fractions of seconds away from kicking the ball.
What about the 2 blatant red cards that weren’t handed out One which ended a season for a player Another borderline card aswell Forward past that resulted in a try where the ref asked him not to convert it yet because they are waiting for tmo, wherein he kicks it to prevent the tmo But yes this decision here was the worst of the game🤣🤣🤣

Teamwork! 😂
100% correct Wallies are to blame. Ref in my opinion was very clear
I think a lot of people would agree with you!
I agree 100% with the ref here. He gave Foley ample warnings. Excellent result at the end, well deserved lesson
Indeed 🫡 setting a standard
Australia have made a name for themselves when it comes to gamesmanship. It caught up with them, I think the ref was onto them.

THEY CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!
As a Referee myself .... I fully support the Referee & his decision!!
Agreed 🤝
Referee was 100% right. Watch 28 secs onwards.
🤝
This is one surefire way to make sure that Foley never does this again. Spot on, when you say this'll be good for the game in the long run.
Glad you agree. It’s all about shifting the game in the right direction. Let’s just hope everyone is on the same page when it comes to the big games…
I thought from that footage he gave foley too much time. Great call
Agreed 🤝
Perfect call by the raf👌
🤝🤝🤝
Game 2 restored the order.
You can say that again! Haha
I disagree ….. I found Raynal handeld it perfectly!
I agree with you!
Thanks Foley 👍🏆🇳🇿
Foley keeping the kiwis happy!
Winners never cheat, cheaters never win. Australia next time learn by your mistakes
Love this ^
