    Looking at the big picture my impression was that the ABs were executing rucks, offloads and passes at a pace the Boks have never experienced before - at times it looked like a touch football team (ABs) against a golden oldies 15 man rugby team (Boks). As result of this speed of execution the Boks defense and strategy collapsed.

    I say this because I totally agree with his summation of events. I almost felt relaxed when your boys kicked for territory which, let's be honest is pretty weird. Likewise I'd be screaming at the TV if we did it usually but again, I was almost confident after the first time and that confidence seemed to grow 👀🤷🏽

    Firstly, the All Blacks came out so fast and accurate regardless of who they were playing in that first 20 - 30min, they'd be in the lead. So well done to them.
    That being said, Springboks shouldn't have been that far behind, they should have been more present in the tackles, their fromation was wonky, and they failed to slow down the ball. The bomb squad approach is only successful if given a realistic chance to win.
    I'm proud they didn't give up the fight, but given how experienced this team is, they lacked leadership and direction for a bit.
    I'm also mindful how new some of the combinations have been over the last 2 games, and in this match they started 3 typical utility players (Smith, Willemse, Mostert). I'm hoping from now on coaches can start to settle the team. And can hopefully give Libbock a start against Argentina, as i don't want to just hope Pollard is injury free WC. I want a tested legitimate 10 starting, and one back up in the squad. Willemse/Le Roux/Kolbe or anyone else is a utility 10 option if in an emergency.

  • @richardmatatahi4563
    @richardmatatahi4563 Год назад +9

    As a kiwi this win don't mean squat as we are looking for our best team to contest the Opening game at the RWC. We now have Australia and we can't dismiss them.
    As for winning the RWC it will mean winning all our games. I want to see a South African vs New Zealand final and that can happen if we finish Pool play in the same position in the Qtr-final finals play off's either 1st or 2nd, I would prefer we both finish on top than 2nd. but we would then avoid each other in the semi- final when our two pools A & B Qtr-finals winners play C & D Qtr-finals winner.
    Because we both have 3 RWC titles it's only fitting we meet in the finals. but we know this ain't no fairy tale story, a lot of work needs to be done before then, to succeed. For now for us Australia will be our next priority & focus, despite their losses we won't take them likely they have a habit of lifting their game against us and almost beat us last year.
    See ya at Twickenham, a final bash out before the World Cup begins. Let's smash them bro.

    First 20mins South Africa gave a false sense of how good allblacks are at this time. You cannot expect a normal SA side to cough up possession constantly like they did. You don't see south africa failing a kick trade like that very often. Lots of comments about things done right in NZ media that was actually things done wrong by SA, coupled with some very tough borderline calls from officials maintaining their momentum at key moments. Despite having to chase the game from 0-17 down after 16 minutes SA still went 20-18 after that.

      so Ellis Park was false as well? the ABs have the players to play fast and hard, and thats a very kiwi style of rugby, the opening 20 was a demonstration of what this team is capable of, if they put in the work they will get there, speed is the ABs greatest commodity, but that also requires a high level of fitness

      As an AB supporter l really missed the former Super Rugby format when all the SA teams were involved in that comp.
      It's a pity that the financial and political climate saw South African sides going to the NH comps.
      I personally feel that the quality of SA play may have been compromised and sacrificed for the financial gains in the NH.
      One need only to look at the one single time in the previous nine attempts that a NH side has ever held aloft the RWC as victors, and that was more than a minute ago.
      Rightfully so, it is only proper that France and Ireland are currently very strong contenders to give the NH a second moment of glory however... one should never preclude both SA or New Zealand as tournament winners either.
      Best of luck to both as l would prefer that the cup remain in the SH, even if the AB's exit before or during the semi's
      Cheers 🍻

    The Boks have not given away anything of any game plan, kick chase or lineout pressure. They are focused on the games in the world cup . No teams that will play them can now make plans against them. If there was any mistakes made it was the fact hat to squads were split and the Boks against the Abs were just off the pace because they didnt play the previous week.

      That it is even conceivable that a Springbok team would consider it acceptable to risk losing any test match is a sign of how rugby has changed in SA. Used to be that a Springbok team would throw the kitchen sink at it when they were down as if losing was a fate worse than death. Not any more, now we have talk about losing as if it is some kind of strategic option.

    • @newremote
      @newremote Год назад +1

      @@nerdyali4154 Exactly. I'm surprised at the comments saying this loss was all part of a clever master plan. The idea that a SA team would purposely allow an AB side an on-field advantage just to see what they would do with it, so that maybe SA can foil them in a later game, is a strange mindset. Historically, there have never been what the NH calls "friendlies" between these sides. They have always played as if their lives depended on it and it'll be a sad day if that changes.

    • @biggest23
      @biggest23 Год назад +1

      Boks kept taking a step towards the AB’s lineout, weren’t called for it by the ref, so Taylor would step to ensure he was in the middle of the lineout, using the new centerline created by the advancing boks as his marker. Taylor got called for stepping, while the boks got away with closing the gap. My wife’s American, has only been watching rugby for the last five years and she even noticed the boks doing this before the commentary teams mentioned it, how did you miss it?
