@@brandmansean My point was mainly to respond to referring to hypothetical managers as "he" when theres a lot of shes killin the game! Check out my afropop artist OWO (OWO Official on YT). Appreciate your content!
I love this video it is so informative. I'm an artist with over 12 million streams on Spotify, I have a verified IG and Facebook page (I didn't pay for my verification, I received it in 2021). I've made a decent amount of money from streams and production cuts, so I think I'm doing a few things right. I also have been featured on several Spotify editorial pages. I'm slowly growing my RUclips channel, but I've received a lot of love on it as well and put in the work and money to create some music videos. I've been an artist for over 5 years, and I still can't seem to find a manager who knows the business side of things, to help me level up. I would love to link up with a manager here who wants to take a leap with me and level things up. I'm based in LA.
Thank you for this video!! I’m in Public Relations and Marketing and have been asked to manage a Producer. Do these strategies also work with producers?
I was watching your video that saids if you suck at social media don’t focus on it as a growth strategy. I was thinking of paying some repost pages to hype up a song I just released. My thought was that if they like what they hear, it will lead people to my IG, and they will follow/click the link in my bio to hear the song. Do you think it’s a good strategy? Or should I just put the money into FB ads? Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate your time.
The moment you start paying for ads, you get tagged as a (potential) purchaser. The moment you quit paying is the moment you get dropped from Al Gore's Rythym.
HE SAYING MANGER WAYY TOO MUCH AND WHILE USING A MARKER THATS FADING AWAY QUICKER THAN CATCHING HIS BREATH. DAMM I REALLY THOUGHT I WAS LEARNING SOMETHING UNTIL I GOT LOST AND THEN GOT DIZZY FROM MANAGER MANAGER MANAGER AND MARKETING MANAGER- but wait don’t forget....THE MONEY MANAGER! ! 🤯 💀
Just out of curiosity do you know of any managers that work with big artist that are able to successfully do all the roles of a biz manager and/or the other one? (I forgot the name you said)
If I for example want to sign a contract with an a certain artist what business license do I need? Is it a LLC like you mentioned or could it be a sole proprietor? I would basically be touring with my artist internationally. I will be the one negotiating and booking vuenues. Thank you in advance!
No. You don't lose your job unless they get a new manager. Managers focus on more than music...music just creates the spark to capitalize on other things. You still have to help with music after they're signed but you also help get brand deals, touring, merch and other forms of growth and monetization that is outside the labels responsibility.
#askbrandman Dope video!! So i have a question how would you set up a situation if your working with a up and coming indie artist and you are taking the role of a Content/marketing manager / small investor?
You pretty much learn the industry as the producer would navigate it and then market them to bring them more attention, once the attention comes, so will the brand deals and partnerships, and then you take a percentage of the business you bring in for the artist.
I could see myself showing up with nothing but a flash drive hehe I wouldn’t see it mandatory to bring all my lights and speakers I’m just trying to email some venues

I have a brother in law that is a upcoming rap artist good music good content but no fan base he wants me to manage him and I have a few contacts and connections what do you recommend I do also I have never managed a rap artist or any artist but I do believe in him and he has skills so any advice for me would be greatly appreciated Thanks for the information in this video and Thanks in advance for any recommendations or general advice for me.
Question if the artist isn't to the top and you as a beginner manager like day 2 day manager. The artist doesn't have a manger but you dicking and the artist is gigging today because of a day 2 day. Advice me
I'm a Producer looking for a female singer to front the material. Is it a good idea to get a Manager to scout one for me? I'm not really hooked into that scene.
You've got many wash-outs (thirty-somethings, no real career or experience, living with parents) who want to be music managers. Met one not long ago named something like Rex, Tex, or Alex Shimone from the SF Bay Area. Maybe someone will give the poor sap a chance in the industry.
i had no idea there were so many different types of managers
This should clear it up for you. "everything you need to know about the music business - donald passman"
Thanks for this video. Friendly reminder, there are female managers as well. ;)
I totally agree with you. Sometimes females are the best managers!!
and they're the best, I can only recommend working with a female manager
Of course! Let's make a conversation out of this.
Exactly. Female managers take advantage of artists just as well as male management. Greed sees no gender.

I am a female manager and in all honesty I do just about everything except tech.
I need a female manager.. can we talk? Where are you based?
So what are you supposed to do when a major label comes in to sign your the artiste?? Do you loose your job if they end up signing them?
No. You don't lose your job unless they get a new manager. Managers focus on more than music...music just creates the spark to capitalize on other things.
