Why, for the love of God, are they still using displayport 1.4? These companies really are just lazy and greedy. On a flagship product with these specs to not have displayport 2.1 is inexcusable. it’s not like they have tight margins to worry about with this product.
Woled adv over qdled: - if you play games or watch movies with lights on or during day without covering 100% of light from outside, woled is at least 10x times better - more resistant to burn in - better bright blues qdled advantages: - slightly brighter - better bright reds This video is horrible, just yapping about personal preference for gloss over matte finish. Matte is much better is you have lights sources or reflections in the room.
This guy has such an obsession against matte coatings on oled panels that he devotes pretty much the entire video raving about it. In fact, he never mentions the lack of overall brightness on qd-oled monitors with those glossy panels - which they need because of that lack of brightness. 🤨 But will the upcoming oleds achieve more than 1k nits brightness at a 3% window, as the existing qd-oleds do? Can't understand why people are raving about such tiny specular highlights of brightness.
Yeah, it really is annoying with this channel. Every video there is a 3 minute rant about the finish, while matte finish is a standard in PC monitors since forever. I like to not sit in front of a mirror in dark atmospheric games.
The brightness difference isn't really that big, especially when we take color brightness into account and not just plain white brightness. The QD-OLED might even have the upper hand in that situation
all OLED monitor brands use the same panels from either LG or samsung. you’re basically telling people don’t get a monitor because eventually a better one will come out. which, of course! only you’re continuing the illusion that they’re all different monitors. the ONLY minimal differences will be ports, aesthetic, and cooling. the base panels will be the same from brand to brand
The matt finish provides a "better" image quality when being operated in a lighter room close to a bright Window for example, its not as simple as glossy is always better, its entirely situational.
I own two LG monitors and have been very pleased. Samsung has been horrendous for me. Multiple failures across their product line from tv's to phones to appliances.
@@nathanjohnson4721don't worry Asus has very poor quality too have 2 displays and BOTH showed problems after 2-3 years. 1 has dead pixels which Asus support said it's not dead pixels it's a bug behind the panel (it's not) and I should Google for the solution. the other ones has awful glow, very long signal input detection time, which isn't that bad
do you realise that nobody cares about your experience and that your opinion is objective and that samsung still are a multi billionaire company with multi trillion in machinery and assets that even the screen you use probably uses samsung chips in it and AU Optronic panel just put together and programmed to work as the company intends it for not all screens are for everyone and for a fact i bet you got an ips screen from lg while samsung most produces VA monitors with VA panels from AU Optronic like LG do im kinda baffled that every youtuber and reddit have such stupid conversations that at this point i shouldn't even buy 1 monitor in the world if i heard every guy that complains or have problems with 1 product but here we are looking the best screen i can find for either cheap or go for an oled from lg because that's what i can afford because of the price but again 5 ppls say its extraordinary and 5 ppls say it sucks so dunno might buy an CRT 19 inch screen zero ms response time HDR true black before it even was a thing brightness that match almost of an oled 0 blur motion any resolution possible with unlimited refresh rate up to 160hz take it from me i've had a samsung g7 it was a miracle how it looked but i couldn't focus on games like counter strike and everything moved with a small blurring for someone else that cant even notice blurring cause he plays non competitive and doesn't care its a treasure
Got the AW34DWF in August and have no regrets. There is always something better around the corner. Sometimes you gotta just be happy and content. It’s not like I use that monitor and think “this sucks”. Lol! Sarcasm aside, good job with the videos.
Ever since I started using a CRT as my main gaming display, I’ve been so interested in OLED to replace my 60hz ips Dell monitor I had for over 4 years now. From what I hear it’s the closest lcd has gotten to CRT color depth and motion clarity, which is why I’m so exasperated that almost all the most attractive models are Uber expensive ultrawides rather than a standard 16:9. I hope we will get upper mid range oled displays that can do 160hz max at 1440p.
I too had a dell monitor, U27 something, 1440p 60 hz and it was awful. I got the LG WOLED now, the 27 inch that are relatively new now and the colors are amazing. I had them both side-side for around 4 days to calibrate it a bit, compare the reds and blues, which are a bit over-saturated on LG OLED for my taste and then dumped the Dell monitor ASAP. Never again.. Washed out colors and 60 hz is a nightmare. However like this video points out I agree the finish on it is trash, the matte trash that ruins the picture a tiny bit, would be great if they offered one without that coating but whatever. I still much rather prefer this as QD-OLED has been proven potentially more burn-in susceptible in new rtings review and WOLED with the additional white led row is offsetting it a bit better, later when all monitors and TVs are the .EX with deuterium it should be even more durable. Edit> Btw the fan in the LG OLED is annoying AF. I replaced it with noctua the chroma black 92mm fan with removed frames which is nicely silent, it will probably overheat during HDR content but I really couldnt care less about HDR.
@@NotEvenDeathCanSaveU Me too, really. HDR looks like another way to wash everything out. My Mom Has a ProArt IPS with HDR, I turned that off the moment it lost all the grey from windows and took away all the important pic setting on the monitor. Asus, really doesn't like you doing more than one thing at a time. Like, my old Asus, that popular 1080 75hz 24" from like 10yrs ago, can't use freesync unless you are in "racing mode". Otherwise, choose scenery? Not playing a game and not being able to use headphones from line in. Weird Company, sort of. I am still using my old LG 32GK650F-B. So, I am very careful on my next Monitor. Unless, it dies tomorrow. Now, I am afraid of Any of the LG Monitors, because the GQ950 Also has a ton of "Fan Noise" reviews. So, when they have HDR, they have loud Fans?
@@Mr_Joe_B_619 Yeah they started placing pretty annoying fans in those, Sunon fans which seem to be more industrially focused I guess. I mean most people don't have a problem with it, some say they now put quieter fans in there than they used to but I could hear mine in a completely silent room at night as at low rpm it makes a slight buzzing vibrating noise, can hear it even thru my Sennheisers but it doesnt count as those are open-back and you can hear nicely when no sound is really playing. I have opened my monitor and replaced the fan with noctua nf92, I had to cut a bit of the metal casing that holds PCB off so the fan fits in, so the warranty is probably bye-bye. Also removed the frame of the fan so it blows air sideways a bit too, and held it in place via hotglue, I hope it doesnt come loose but it shouldnt as fan should keep it cool, not that it gets too hot anyway. Now I hear absolutely nothing from monitor, I have to get my ear real close to the back of it to hear slight humm from the noctua fan. Btw if you or anyone was to do this then just be aware that the +12V and GND is reversed on the monitor PCB connector. 1st is 12V, 2nd is GND, then as usual tach and pwm, but originally fans are 1st GND then 2nd +12V, then usual tach and pwm.
The matte finish doesn’t bug me, I have the 27 lg OLED and I’m very happy with it. I use it for gaming that’s it, I prefer Lg in my opinion. The last 2 monitors I’ve had is LG. They were the gp850 and gp950. Both were great, with the exception of horrible ips glow and bad contrast.
The matt finish provides a "better" image quality when being operated in a lighter room close to a bright Window for example, its not as simple as glossy is always better, its entirely situational.
I got a 42" c3 for $800 and I love it. I get an awesome gaming monitor and tv combo for the price of what many only 27" 1440p OLED monitors are. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
I wish I could get a 42” C2 but my country only brought in minimum 48” c series. Also my desk gonna put 2 monitors so I’ve been enjoying screen size below 28” and also looking for one to upgrade to OLED. GR available here but not the GS newer one. I’m still struggling to get one
Yeah - I have an LG CX OLED tv and, while it's great, it's borderline unusable at times for dark content unless the room is pitch black due to the reflections. There's no perfect system, but a matte finish on a monitor is far far preferable to a gloss!
Manufacturers make the screens matte for work environments in the chance a company will bulk buy them. Matte screens are trash for typical home lighting but for fluorescent office or business overhead lighting its perfect because the lighting is more indirect and the coating isn't smearing a single hot spot. With gloss, you'll get more mirror reflections from the indirect lighting but its perfect for typical home lighting since it doesn't have to diffuse
Honestly i disagree, i just bought the Asus PG27AQDM and many comments discussed how awful the matte coating is, but i don't get what all the fuss is about, it looks exactly like every monitor i've ever used, i've always HATED glossy coatings, all it takes is a small amount of light and i can see my reflection perfectly, matte coated displays require direct light shining on them for it to have any negative effects and honestly who buys an OLED and sticks it in direct sunlight? not only is it bad for the monitor but it's bad for viewing your content, whether it's glossy or matte. I'm sat in a gaming room with my blind permanently closed, lights are on and there is ZERO reflections on my screen, zero glow, no reflections. If i had glossy i'd be able to my own face.
But these are gaming monitors, for you to play video games, not for you to use in the office to work, so makes no sense this companies keep giving matte finish to these monitors. And they usually have a working line, even make them depending on what you work, like art or content creation.
2:31 The distortion on those QD-OLED monitors is definitely there. It looks slightly veiled, reminiscent of the matte effect. Something in the layer of the screen in creating that distortion. Its not as clean as some glossy monitors.
So, I was sitting here, watching the lizard lick air. When, looking at it. I think, "That is a really good pictures." Then, it hit me, "I'm watching this through my own 2K LG Monitor. Looks fine enough, thanks. LOL
Ugh! I just bought the LG ultragear 45" OLED this summer and am past the return period. For the most part I'm happy with it for screen size and immersion, but I agree that I HATE the matte finish. I think it will just be a placeholder until one of these comes out. Hopefully I can sell it for enough to put a decent chunk twords a new one next year. Still waiting for my "End-game" Monitor.
@@drunkhusband6257 The LG 45" is a great monitor no doubt. I loved the size. I ultimately ended up selling mine and re-buying the Samsung G9 OLED. That matte screen just killed it for me. Evetime I looked at it I was reminded of how the experience could be so much better with Glossy. Personal preference though, I know a lot of people actually prefer the Matte (I'm just not one of them).
I just paid $600 for an Alienware 34 QD OLED screen, the 165Hz model. It was a second-hand purchase, but it came brand new with all the factory protective layers intact (which makes me wonder if it was possibly stolen). Let's see what I got for my money: a glossy screen, 165Hz refresh rate, no input lag, no ghosting, HDR1000, the best viewing angles I've ever seen. I can see the exact same image quality from the sides of the panel, which is incredible. On top of that, the curvature is just right for me to comfortably see the corners of the screen (I switched from a flat 34-inch ultrawide with the same resolution). Despite being 3440 x 1440, it feels sharper than my similar Philips LCD with the same pixel density, likely due to its quantum dot pixel arrangement. As a graphic designer, I scrutinize details, and this screen impresses me. Now, onto the text fringing issue-initially, I noticed some fringing, particularly magenta, while reading white text on a black background. However, after three days, I can't detect it anymore. It seems the eyes perceive it, but the brain deems it unimportant and stops highlighting the small fringe. This screen works perfectly well for writing, graphic design, and video work. Don't let anyone scare you with concerns about this issue; it's really a non-issue. As for the 'Standard' picture profile, it's not truly flat and balanced. It appears warm and oversaturated. Surprisingly, the 'Cool' picture profile is the one that delivers good results. The 'Cool' profile closely matches the white balance of my calibrated LCD screen, which is quite remarkable. I plan to calibrate this display today to see if it's even necessary. When I work in Photoshop and examine my previous projects, I'm amazed by how well the skin tones look now. The OLED colors are a sight to behold, and the contrast consistently wows me, especially when playing games. Transitioning from a 60Hz panel to a 165Hz one with no input lag and no ghosting feels like I'm peering through a window. Honestly, I can't find anything negative to say about this monitor, except that I'm already getting tired of that Pixel Refresh time warning. I typically postpone it until I finish my work and then allow the monitor to refresh at least twice a day for my peace of mind.
I bought the same Alienware 34 QD OLED monitor. I immediately noticed a fisheye effect in games, especially Cyberpunk. When a character appears in the side he / she appears too bloated / fat. I think this is a problem with curved monitors. Its irritating the hell out of me. Are you seeing the same ?
I bought a 4K 48" in 2022 and it has served me so we'll. Now I'm going back to the 1440 ultrawide. I love the 4K monitor but I want that ultrawide aspect and high refresh rate.
Complains about lack of contrast on lg monitors due to matte finish and doesn’t mention raised blacks on qd oled’s with a little bit of ambient light. Color volume is more of a marketing term than a real world concern. I’ve got a monitor with one of the highest color volumes out there sitting next to my lg oled and the colors are hard to tell apart. The matte finish is subjective. Some people like optimumtech and myself don’t really see much of a difference. At the end of the day though, if new tech is just around the corner it’s always a good idea to see what’s coming.
I was actually so close to buying either the LG or Asus 27 inch but decided to wait to see how much black Friday would change prices. very next day Alienware announces their 360Hz monitor and now I'm sticking with my 1080p VA for god knows how long before AW is released in the UK.
Thought the same but then realised even with a 4090 fps will be below tolerable limits and outside the hour I get to say OMG it so pretty then downgrading to 1440 to get my frames back. Then thought black Friday I could potentially get a good mid range 3x 27' 240hz 1440 monitor bundle for under a grand.
The biggest upside is that it actually has HDMI 2.1 but there are other monitors that are Ultra wide monitors that have HDMI 2.1 and USBC connectors like the new mini LED ViewSonic
I don't see any QD-OLED coming next year that can rival a 42'' C3 used as Gaming monitor + color critical monitor, so I'm going to buy a C3 now. And if they will, their prices will make absolutely no sense when compared to a C3.
@@dieGesichter Depends on what you want. For me, for non-competitive gaming, 120 Hz with GSync is more than enough. I play everything maxed out and I rarely hit 100 fps in games anyway. As for size, I find 42'' just right for 2160p and 100% UI scaling. 27-32'' are way to small for 2160p. 1440p works for those.
Those companies buy the OLED panels from LG. Even Samsung has started making deals with LG for their panels. All depends on what your looking for, but for OLED is reliable to stick with LG.
Man I was really hoping to replace my 15 inch rgb cable monitor this year but now I will have to wait again till next year cause something better is coming out.
lol no. WOLED > QDOLED for several reasons. LG's panel settings are also much better than Samsung's. Go check Rtings. (But yea don't buy matte finish) Buy the c2/c3.
I got a 27GR95QE for about 650 dollars, it seems like prices are going down. I'd say that now that we're nearing the release window for the new monitors. Buyers should keep an eye out for old stock deals
Man, not to hate, this guys got denied by LG/ASUS/AMD, most of his views are probably 80% clickbait, there are only two panel manufacturers Samsung and LG, Samsung gen 2 panel wont do shit, their quality control is trash, G7, G9 had massive quality control on panels and firmware, reddit was crying and rtings gave the G series a 6.5/10 for a premium gaming monitor, now they fixed the bugs but still have problems, if LG so bad, that's why BenQ uses LG panels and are probably the best gaming Esport monitor, Asus has been on top for YEARS and has LG panel, Corsair, Gygabite, Pixio, Acer, Aoc all use LG panel, Dell only gaming sector is Alienware, don't see much in the scene prolly due to being overpriced premium for subpar quality, not gone even mention MSI, fuck outa here with that VA "gaming" shit. QDOled are ment for TV not for gaming and media/productivity, GL reading something on QDoled, Woled is a pain already and is easier on the eyes, plus QDoled are more sensible for burn-in due to pixel layout(check the TVs comparasion in burnin). I do agree with the gossy finish, but not all of us have a dark room, and any light coming in the room, you'll hate the glossy finish reflections, even deskled, keyboard reflects it.
OK, so I waited last year because something better was 'just around the corner'. Then in just a few weeks, I should be able to get say an LG C3 42" TV on sale at a really good price. And NOW you're telling me to wait again? Uh, NO! I don't care if there's a bit of color banding and if text isn't up to 4:4:4 Chroma subsampling standards. I want it for the contrast ratio and the motion handling. Plus I don't have, and cannot afford, a PC that can drive most games past 120hz. So I see no point in perenially waiting for the next "AWESOME Technology" to materialize. Now I did leave you a like. I'm not angry with you at all. I am a bit envious, because you've been able to gain the experience which allows you to make the statements you do here. But I have a very limited budget, so I have to wait until products are near 'end of life' to be able to afford them.
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 49" (2nd Gen QD-OLED) at $1100 currently at Best Buy / Amazon is too tough to pass up. If you buy at Best Buy it even comes with a free Samsung 2TB 980 Pro NVMe drive. I currently have the Alienware 34" DWF OLED but will be getting the 32" Alienware 4K OLED once released.
I have the steam deck OLED. It looks great. I also have an Alienware AW3423DW with a glossy finish, and it looks amazing, marginally better, but reflections are definitely an issue. I will NEVER buy a samsung monitor again (I previously advocated for their TVs because miniled > OLED anything for longevity) after dealing with the QC issues at the advertised 4k 240hz framerate for the Neo G8. There is nothing wrong with matte screens.
For heaven's sake, the glossy vs. matte screen issue has probably been debated since 2003, when Sony started producing laptops with glossy screens and released the SDM-HS73 for desktops, personally I prefer glossy but it is a question strictly linked to the type of use. Unfortunately Samsung has the bad habit of testing its new products on customers, as in the case of QD-OLED which has proven to be less resistant to burn in than WOLED despite the premises. The characteristics of the QD-OLED are still impressive, the annoying thing is that it lacks a 16:9 aspect ratio above 40", many users, in addition to playing, would also like to work or perhaps watch a video on a large non-curved screen.
I’ve almost a 480hz a couple times now but GD I’m sitting here looking at my 42 lg oled TV and there’s no way I’m buying another matte finish oled monitor. I have 2 lg 240hz and the matte sucks
Still too many issues with OLED for me such as text clarity and VRR flicker due to the infinite contrast. And in a multi monitor setup there are annoyances if using mixed panel types
Dell is crazy in my region. They charge more than twice the US prices for their Alienware monitors. AW3423DW is $999 but here it's 2045 USD. No matter how great those monitors are it's not worth it to pay twice the amount of money compared to everywhere else.
Wow, glad I watched this video.. I was planning on getting a LG c3 42 inch for Black Friday.. I'm running a 30 inch 15 year old dell monitor right now and I'm so itching for a great upgrade. Thanks so much!
@@critamineits called an exaggeration, a rhetorical device used to stress his message. Not to be taken literally. And in case, youre exaggerating as well, well then his point still stands as its very individual whether 1000 can be a lot of money for a single person's current financial situation or not
@@critamine dont worry about me im good, just keep on living in your own world where the majority of all people can afford 1000$ GPUs because as sale numbers show, the opposite is the case as most people buy 200-400$ GPUs. So as proven by facts, most people don't want to spend 1000$ on GPUs in contrast to what you're claiming. So it obviously doesn't make much sense, but of course you're still allowed to believe whatever you think, I can't force you to do anything. And btw, since every argument has been exchanged, i wont be reading any of what you'll write
for a 300$ price difference not gonna lie its not worth buying a screen just because there's not matte screen on it's it still good quality and its a lot cheaper and yeah there's going to be new screens this year but at what price 2000$ like hell nah bro i'm sticking with the 700$ LG at this point
I returned mine within a week of use. The 800 curve is too overwhelming for anything but gaming ,viewing web content was noticeably horribly bad with huge pixels that are low per square inch for this panel size making everything blurry. I went with the Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor - AW3423DWF. is better in every way including price.
LG TVs MLA is very close to as good and much more reliable. As for matte finish, if you’re dealing with content creation and image editing, that is a benefit. As for your color volume, rec 709 4:4:4 solves that issue and helps with better HDR color mapping.
Yeah this is where I'm at too. Changing my current 32” 4k for an LG C3 42” - the size is perfect. If there was a Samsung that size coming in the next 6 months I'd maybe wait but it's looking like at least 2025.
Only thing the new ones are really going to be offering is 4k OLED monitors and if you’re going for a 27 inch there’s literally no point. There’s already 360hz monitors and in my opinion 240hz is more than enough and most people don’t even have a PC to keep up. Same with the 4k. Will need a hell of a gpu to run 4k OLED at a nice fps
Are you a Samsung shill or what? This is such a biased view, spamming YT all over the place with “don’t buy LG OLED” BS videos. Matte vs glossy finish is largely a question of preference but yes, I also prefer glossy. HOWEVER, the LG OLED TV coating (e.g. C2/C3) craps all over the QD OLED one which kills the blacks in all but dim rooms and looks awful with its strong purple tint. It’s not really glossy by the way, quite a few people scrub the AG coating off their screens. The 2nd gen panel hasn’t improved that. As for the color volume, LG panels look way more natural in many cases, they are far from being washed out or anything. You could even argue QD OLED tends to be way oversaturated in many applications. Burn-in vulnerability is also a thing, do some research. Rant over, I still enjoy some of your content 😁
This guy... 😂😂😂 90% of all OLED screens in the US are manufactured by LG. As someone who has been following the OLED market since 2018, you obviously don't know as much as you should to be posting RUclips videos on the subject.
I bought an lg e9 in 2020. They lied about it being g-sync and the tv came with vertical banding, a manfacturer defect that has been highly reported for the tvs and oled in general. I told them dark scenes in my video games look like im inside a circus tent and they said video games dont count as content. So i had to watch stupid movies off netflix to document the problem. I showed them clear scenes from 3 different movies and they sent a guy with a camera to document it. He was not a technition, had no experience with the problem i was experiencing, and took one picture and wouldn't even let me see it. The delivery was 3 months late, i bought it off newegg, and they wouldnt let me cancel the order despite being over a month past the claimed delivery date. It was supposed to be delivered by a team of two people who would take care with it and help me with setup. It was literally dropped onto my driveway by a single ups guy, no dolly, no notice, and then he drove off as soon as possible. The box had a hole in the corner like somebody dropped or kicked it. The display also had 3 dead pixles in a line and they didnt care as 3 out of a million isnt a lot. Paying about 2k for this, i dont thnk i will ever buy LG anything agian in my life and STRONLGY SUGGEST you dont too. People warned me that customer service from korean companies was shit, but they straight up lied and obfuscated and manipulated the truth. Be wary! 🎉
Tbh I love matte coated panels because I don't get to see my face reflected on the screen during dark scenes, reminding me of the loser that I am and taking away the immersion from single player games, since I don't only play multiplayer games.
what no one is talking about is the burnin on oled/qled screens after a year or two, that's alotta money for a monitor that will have a short life span compared to predecessors and YES burn in happens, Linus Sebastian has some oleds with a history of use that are in fact suffering from burnin.
I've had my 65" Sony A80J for a few years now. I didn't change a single watching habit switching to OLED. 1000 hours of Elden Ring. No trace of burn-in. You really have to leave a static image for days to get burn-in theses days and what idiot is going to do that?
@TheDisplayGuy Huge thanks to you for doing it, keeping shitting on that awful matt finishes, I’m sure that in the long run it makes a huge impact, manufacturers are monitoring feedbacks and related content, so it’s a big deal
Worth buying alienware DWF this black Friday ? I doubt that the new asus monitors would be less than 2500 AUD, could probably pick up the dwf for 1200 aud. I have a 4090.
Heavily considering the ultragear 48gq900-b because I want to do both high end modern gaming and movie watching in style. The 48 inches would be perfect for me because I'd be looking at it from a distance, not right in my face as a traditional monitor. I'm almost done upgrading into AM5 so we'll see
Got AW34DW and will be buying the G9 Oled because i like the AW34DW. There will always be better screen every year, you just have to be content with what you have.
Are the second-gen QD-OLED panels from Samsung using the improvements from the PH-OLED technology? As I've read, while using higher brightness on current OLED panels over time, like watching a hockey match, the brightness dims quite a bit after only a few minutes. With the upcoming PH-OLED technology which replaces the materials of the blue subpixels to a longer lasting variant of blue, I suppose the auto dimming function on OLED panels are no longer neccessary, or am I wrong here?
Nope, going to have to wait until early 2025 for PHOLED Tvs, and then probably some more time until it trickles down to monitors. But who knows, maybe Samsung will go full PHOLED on everything since they'd have the most benefit with their blue powered QD-OLED technology. PHOLED will be a big step in higher brightness + longevity. Also look into plasmonic PHOLED, which will be an incredible leap again some years down the line (all being developed by UDC - universal display corporation).
wow, I have watch some bias content before but damn! Is Samsung paying you to misrepresent the competition? I and many people absolutely HATE the high gloss finish. The contrast and color issue are hardly noticeable to the human eye. Even using tech to get detailed comparison it is a marginal difference at best. Especially if you have windows or a sliding door in your room and the sun shines it. It makes the glossy finish almost unusable. Plus I buy a monitor for gaming and watching TV not to use as a mirror. lol
tested 27 asus oled and 27 alienware oled for console kept the asus. 1.matte finish is nitpicking by reviewers it is perfectly fine. no noticeable difference between matte and glossy picture. 2.hdmi 2.0 for consoles is all you need cause consoles(ps5 for sure) are capped at 120fps and the monitor resolution is 1440p no need for 2.1 input😅 2.1 is for 4k and for more than 144fps or refresh rate.
I'm buying LG OLED 27-inch one on Black Friday🤷🏻♂. I expect it to cost less than $800, and even though the upcoming Samsung QD-OLED 1440p panel will be superior in color volume and brightness, the significant increase in the price doesn't make it very attractive. 1440p is garbage of course, but until 4K 27 inch QD-OLED panels are available it's the best we got.
Reson you buy oled is perfect black which you dont get from qd oled with ambient light. Colors are better on qd oled ok, but they are more then good enough on woled
i wanted to hop on the oled wagon with the new asus 27 inch that launched a few months back but knowing that glossy screens are comming i wait for the asus version of that
Market is tiny. The people willing to spend big bucks for OLED aren’t ones to settle for low resolution. And if speed is all people care about there are plenty of super high refresh rate 1080p panels with ULMB.
1080p just isnt the right market. People buying OLED spend a lot of money and someone spending a lot of money just isnt gonna buy a 1080p display 9/10 situations in 2023 so its probably just not worth it for them to develop such a display. 1080p nowadays for expensive monitors is really only used in extremely fast TN/IPS displays like 520hz monitors because apparently, this niche market is worth it for manufacturers
@@JanM2 1080p is the gold standard for all competitive gaming, at 20-24 inches 1080p has a super high pixel density which is way more than enough to show all detail. All pro gamers use 1080p 23-24 inch displays. If they made 1080p 20-24 inch OLED gaming displays they would outsell 2k-4k gaming monitors, only casual fool around gamers use 2-4k gaming displays. If the computer monitor industry doesn't offer 1080p OLED gaming monitors it's because they want people to spend 10,000 dollars on new computer parts to be able to power run 2-4k+ monitors at high refresh rates. It's funny because they make tiny OLED displays with all different resolution sizes for other markets, there are 1 inch OLED displays out there. At the same time they use 4K projectors on 60 foot wide screens at movie theaters, people are stupid as dirt. The bottom line is the entire computer technology display industry is run by mafia criminals that don't care about people's safety health and what's best for people. We shouldn't even be using digital pixel display technologies, there are other way better display technologies out there that require 1/10 the computing power, but then they wouldn't be dictating the computer display sells market like they do turning everyone into zombie slave impulsive consumer robots every new tech season release.

Why, for the love of God, are they still using displayport 1.4? These companies really are just lazy and greedy. On a flagship product with these specs to not have displayport 2.1 is inexcusable. it’s not like they have tight margins to worry about with this product.

This video is horrible, just yapping about personal preference for gloss over matte finish. Matte is much better is you have lights sources or reflections in the room.
but with al of this I still don't know which one to take haha
This guy has such an obsession against matte coatings on oled panels that he devotes pretty much the entire video raving about it. In fact, he never mentions the lack of overall brightness on qd-oled monitors with those glossy panels - which they need because of that lack of brightness. 🤨
But will the upcoming oleds achieve more than 1k nits brightness at a 3% window, as the existing qd-oleds do? Can't understand why people are raving about such tiny specular highlights of brightness.
Yeah, it really is annoying with this channel. Every video there is a 3 minute rant about the finish, while matte finish is a standard in PC monitors since forever. I like to not sit in front of a mirror in dark atmospheric games.
he is watching monitor 1mm away.
The brightness difference isn't really that big, especially when we take color brightness into account and not just plain white brightness. The QD-OLED might even have the upper hand in that situation
because he hates matte and thats pretty much it. Thats his entire stance its actually idiotic.

Already exists. LG has an OLED that's 240Hz 1440p available now.

Gonna be the odd duck and say I love the matte finish, not a fan of Glossy at all. Love my LG
Yeah - I have an LG CX OLED tv and, while it's great, it's borderline unusable at times for dark content unless the room is pitch black due to the reflections. There's no perfect system, but a matte finish on a monitor is far far preferable to a gloss!
Stop lying to yourself
I hate glossy
Manufacturers make the screens matte for work environments in the chance a company will bulk buy them. Matte screens are trash for typical home lighting but for fluorescent office or business overhead lighting its perfect because the lighting is more indirect and the coating isn't smearing a single hot spot. With gloss, you'll get more mirror reflections from the indirect lighting but its perfect for typical home lighting since it doesn't have to diffuse
This makes sense for cheaper monitors at 1080p or 4K, but idk any company who will bulk buy 1440p OLED monitors that cost £750-£1,000
Imagine telling that to Apple.. All their screens are glossy.
But these are gaming monitors, for you to play video games, not for you to use in the office to work, so makes no sense this companies keep giving matte finish to these monitors. And they usually have a working line, even make them depending on what you work, like art or content creation.
Yes I do get that but this OLED monitors r made for gaming in mind not office work so matte don't make sense
2:31 The distortion on those QD-OLED monitors is definitely there. It looks slightly veiled, reminiscent of the matte effect. Something in the layer of the screen in creating that distortion. Its not as clean as some glossy monitors.
Maybe due to the curve?

Got mine for $800, half the cost of most oled monitors.
Life story

Only disagreement is size and youll run into some display issues at times. Size for gaming is best at 27-32… FPS / competitive gaming that is*
@@dieGesichter Depends on what you want. For me, for non-competitive gaming, 120 Hz with GSync is more than enough. I play everything maxed out and I rarely hit 100 fps in games anyway.

@@JanM2 didn't ask
for a 300$ price difference not gonna lie its not worth buying a screen just because there's not matte screen on it's it still good quality and its a lot cheaper and yeah there's going to be new screens this year but at what price 2000$ like hell nah bro i'm sticking with the 700$ LG at this point
The first gen MLA of the g3 had issues with overshoot, wait for a second or third gen MLA.
Samsung just needs to make a 42in monitor 16:9 no curve .
Yeah this is where I'm at too. Changing my current 32” 4k for an LG C3 42” - the size is perfect. If there was a Samsung that size coming in the next 6 months I'd maybe wait but it's looking like at least 2025.
all this reflection in the monitor at 2:32 is caused by the glossy finish.
reflections completely ruin immersion for me. Glossy shills are so annoying
And the matte finish for a monitor is Wonderful
lol
I'm hearing the new 32" 240 Hz 4K OLEDs are not getting very bright. The new 42" LG C4 is suppose to be a lot brighter than last years C3.
Paid $849 a for the 48 inch. Had it for a year now, zero remorse!
Problem of glossy is any amount of light in the room will turn the screen into a mirror
yeah but at a $1,400 price point
Still just sat here waiting to drop 1-2k on a 38" Ultrawide OLED.
So what monitor ahould I buy? Looking for 1440 27" 240hz AMD free sync. Ty for the advices
This guy... 😂😂😂
90% of all OLED screens in the US are manufactured by LG.
I just picked up the 45 Oled monitor and 48 c3 for $600 locally in the used market 👀
what no one is talking about is the burnin on oled/qled screens after a year or two, that's alotta money for a monitor that will have a short life span compared to predecessors
and YES burn in happens, Linus Sebastian has some oleds with a history of use that are in fact suffering from burnin.
I've had my 65" Sony A80J for a few years now. I didn't change a single watching habit switching to OLED. 1000 hours of Elden Ring. No trace of burn-in. You really have to leave a static image for days to get burn-in theses days and what idiot is going to do that?
The dislikes on this video speak for itself.
@TheDisplayGuy Huge thanks to you for doing it, keeping shitting on that awful matt finishes, I’m sure that in the long run it makes a huge impact, manufacturers are monitoring feedbacks and related content, so it’s a big deal
What, bought it from "nextdoor" or something?
Thanks for matte warning on LG monitors. OLED definitely has to be glossy. But what was your problem with glossy LG TV's?
Great video! This needs to be seen by everyone looking into OLED monitors today.
Worth buying alienware DWF this black Friday ? I doubt that the new asus monitors would be less than 2500 AUD, could probably pick up the dwf for 1200 aud. I have a 4090.
I bought the LG 27GR95Q a month ago it's fantastic and its $900 cheaper then the cheapest competitive OLED
Love your passion!
Running the 55 inch G3 EVO OLED ...zero complaints... n I dont need higher than 120hz ................yet..
Ive always hated the matte monitor finish. I had a glossy screen monitor over a decade ago and the colors were sooo much better than anything after
Samsung displays usually breaks down after warranty period, the case with all Samsung Odyssey’s
Curious if anyone has any insight regarding if these never monitors will do any better with VRR flicker issues (This was a deal breaker for me).
Wish I knew about vrr flicker before I bought my OLED. Going to return it.
LG's WOLED is actually better at preventing Burn-in than the QD Oleds.
I love my LG C2 and love it and so does my 4090!
Same!
My LG C3 crushes, my only gripe I've had with it is no steam app & my Kanto Tuks arent on the BT list but minor issues.
Reson you buy oled is perfect black which you dont get from qd oled with ambient light. Colors are better on qd oled ok, but they are more then good enough on woled
i wanted to hop on the oled wagon with the new asus 27 inch that launched a few months back
but knowing that glossy screens are comming i wait for the asus version of that
Why the hell don't they make a 1080p and WUXGA 1920x1200 20-24 inch OLED gaming monitor?
