  • This video is a guide on how to snow foam your car the AMDetails way. In the 'how to, PRE-wash' we talk about our snow foaming techniques and how they can help to reduce your snow foam usage and get the most from your chosen snow foam. AMDetails believe this is efficient snow foam method to use at home or at your professional car wash.

    Snow foam pre-wash technique (pre physically touch wash such as your bucket and sponge or lambs wool mitt and 2 bucket method) used to get as much of the dirt off as possible without having to touch your vehicle during your car wash physically.
    Your chosen snow foam is blasted out of your snow canon or snow foam lance on to the vehicle and left to work for a few minutes before rinsing off. It is in the application of the foam and in the removal that we think the key areas are. The application, in straight lines, will massively help to reduce overlapping your foam or repeating to cover the same area. Thus greatly reducing the amount of snow foam needed per wash during your car washing stages.
    Rinsing from the bottom up will help you to focus that pressure washer on each area of the car meaning you won't miss any bits and leave the dreaded dirty missed triangle. Usually where people then shout ' You missed a bit' - Car Washing Pun.

    I had been using snow foam for a long time on all my cars and recently I started my own detailing business, as always you want to learn new things and when I first seen this video posted on RUclips I thought I'd skip past it, but I didn't and I'm glad I never! I changed my method of snow foaming vehicles to that of AMDETAILS and I have to say I use half of the product as I used too before. Good work guys and good on you for posted videos, they are really informative 👍🏻 keep up the good work!

    What a brilliant video. I recently bought a new car and as you do you want to have the best cleaning products, I’ll start here, I normally wash the car with an extended brush, I was told don’t do that as it scratches the paintwork, looking closer, it did, on my wife’s car, anyway, started with Demon foam then rinse then 2 bucket wash rinse with a Meguiars wash mitt, what a shift that is! Was recommended Autosmart foam, what I’m looking to do is this, rinse with cold from the Karcher I have, spray the foam, then wash off with the karcher leaving me to either apply autoglym water wax or just dry the car with a micro fibre towel, I’m looking to basically cover with foam rinse and go, can you recommend a product that will allow this?

    Hi guys, I want to start cleaning my car properly now instead of how I used to clean it before with just a hose, sponge and soap. I've just bought a Vax 1800w pressure washer, the detergent bottle that came with it is quite small so I'm going to order a 1litre bottle, I wanted to know whats a good brand of snow foam to use? Bear in mind I'm a student so on a but of a budget haha, I've heard demon shine is good?

    • @AMDetails
      @AMDetails  8 лет назад +1

      +MY135D Firstly can't wait to see your efforts after adopting some detailing techniques so keep us in the loop on your progress - Tag us - email us - find us on social media.
      I would obviously suggest AM Foam which can be found in the description link. My worry is that your Vax may not have the correct 'bottle attachment' to regulate snow foams properly.
      So maybe we should look at other techniques fist such as
      Citrus pre wash - using a product like AM APC to help dissolve and soften the dirt bonded to your vehicle then pressure washing these areas to remove as much dirt as possible before making contact with your vehicles paintwork. the effects of this can be seen just after 1 minute in to our Fast Forward video of the Cayman GTS - ruclips.net/video/RvnhHew1Dig/видео.html
      2 bucket method - One bucket with your soapy shampoo the other with 'just water' go from soapy suds to car.. then from car to the 'just water' bucket... dunk,agitate and rinse out your mitt in this bucket to remove all the dirt as possible. meaning clean mitt. back in to soapy suds and on to the car again. This method prevents you just moving the dirt from one area back on to the car. Can be seen in our Mclaren video ruclips.net/video/h8IyA9S8r4A/видео.html
      Wheel cleaning techniques - can be found in our wheel cleaning guide - ruclips.net/video/T8toZN4VGmg/видео.html

      Hi, William. Welcome to the world of prewashing. It's completely up to you what steps you take. But if you are going to make any physical contact with your car, for example drying it with a towel. Then I would always suggest doing a 2 bucket wash with your favourite shampoo.

    @acke26 3 года назад +7

    FINALLY, someone that has got it right-!!!!
    You should rinse from the bottom to the top.
    The foam covers the suface to loosen up the dirt and contain it.
    When doing a touchless pre wash the high pressure beam works like a brush and when rinsing, it carries the dirt away. The beam actually shoots away the foam containing the dirt. That's why you shoukd rinse from the bottom.
    When rinsing from the top first the water runs down and rinses away the foam of the lower parts without the high pressure beam hitting the foam and dirt as supposedly.
    And also, without the foam covering unrinsed parts, it's easy to miss a spot when you can't see where you have rinsed.
    Starting from the bottom rinsing horisontally line by line working yourself up, you'll always keep track where to rinse.
    Yes, rinsing from bottom to the top takes more time and water, but this is the way professionals do for the reasons stated above.
    When you hand wash a car you remove the dirt mechanically and then there's no reason to rinse from the bottom to the top. Then off course it's much more efficient to rinse from the top.
    There's a big difference.

    I have been thinking that unless the car is quite dirty, a snow foam wash with the microfibre mittens like shampoo was the way to go if you don't want to strip the wax away, if I use the sow foam and shampoo, should I have to wax?

    • @AMDetails
      @AMDetails  2 года назад

      No need to "rewax" after AM Foam and Shampoo... If you are just going a quick mitt wash then make sure you have plenty of lubrication.. So it's got to be a high lubrication shampoo through the lance. Or you just have wet bubbly cleaner and no "Glide" hope it helps. Al 👍🔔

    Do you also shampoo wash the car after snow foam use? I seem to get conflicting views when researching

    • @AMDetails
      @AMDetails  4 года назад +2

      Indeed we do here at AMDetails.
      We use our APC to cut through the initial tough grime and stains.
      Then AM Foam as its longer dwell time allows for it to only work on the stuff APC could not remove. Spraying on initially means all foam is doing is working on the same thing APC could have removed.
      Then the contact wash of Bubbles and two bucket method.
      I know some detailers like to use their snow foam as the lubricant for their was mitts.
      But AMDetails foam is designed to be a contactless wash. Its detergents are all about the cleaning and offer little lubrication.
      Our shampoo is designed to clean its core feature is to be a lubricant for your wash media, The AMDetails Microfibre Wash Mitt.
      I hope this helps explain why we do what we do, Scott.

    So is there any point in snow foaming if you don't have a pressure washer? City water pressure is regulated and so it's really low. I'm trying to figure out how I might be able to increase my pressure because I don't have a garage, and can't have a pressure washer.

    • @AMDetails
      @AMDetails  3 года назад +1

      For your situation I would just use a citrus prewash. Maybe visit a pressure washer station in the city? Take your two bucket wash with you??
      Citrus wash + rinse.
      Shampoo rinse.

      hey Miker, the duration is completely up to you. the key thing is to try not let any product dry out on your car. 5 to 10 mins is ideal.
      but if your vehicle is hot I would watch it. if not and it's a nice cool day. you can do other tasks whilst you wait. like, make up your wash buckets.

    • @AMDetails
      @AMDetails  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey @Jamesfoo8999 I have seen the same videos and people seem to argue about it like pineapple on pizza.
      For me, if it's a dirty car, I'm going to pre rinse with water and a good APC before using SnowFoam so when Foam finally on the vehicle it's long working time let's it work on stubborn buildup.
      Again this view is from the opinion I'm being paid and it's allowed for in my working time.
      Washing your own vehicle. Assess the dirt level and do what you need to at that wash.
      Keep having fun.

      Thank you. For your comments on this.. We love discussions on technique.
      It's all relevant to the user. There are many videos on, wet or dry application, also the "dilution" argument. But we are not using our foam to a specific PIR. So there is no "exact" dilution ratio to then be "watering down"
      For me, removing as much as possible with each step is the best method. Which is what we allow for in our business pricing.
