Excellent as ever Kev. More people need to watch your information video's and learn from your experiences. I have one of those tents and you've answered everything I'd ever want to know. I feel more confident now, to go use it.
Next week once my friends are here, I get to challenge my disabilities and camp again for the first time in decades. My excitement is akin to a child at Christmas for this 😅👍

You’ve answered a question it wouldn’t have occurred to me to ask. I’ve had my Telemark LW1 tent for three years and never seam sealed it. I’ve never had it leak - and it has seen some real stair rod rainy days and pretty gusty conditions too. I’ve not yet had it out in extreme conditions and frankly I’d rather be at home in front of the fire if storms are forecast with very strong winds. For my type of camping - 3 season at lower levels, it is absolutely perfect and I sleep like a baby in it 😁

That's good and fits in with other feedback that they're solidly waterproof without needing to be sealed, which can be a tedious job.

Hi Kev - I asked this question from Nordisk on my Telemark 1 LW Silnylon a few years back and got pretty much what you said 👍 quote from Jesper Jerktildson Nordisk "As a general rule you do not have to use a seam sealer on our trekking tents. The seams are folded 4 times which should be sufficient to keep rain out of the tent.
If you know that you’re going on a very wet trek with heavy rains it can sometimes be a good idea to use a seam sealer anyways. This should be done on the seams on the inside of the flysheet.
It is a judgement call for the individual if you wish to use seam sealer, it’s not strictly necessary.
If you wish to apply the seam sealer make sure that the tent is completely dry and that the area that needs to be sealed is wiped down and clean.
Scotland is known for having a high chance of rain, so personally I’d make sure to seam seal, but not excessively just to be on the safe side." 👍👍

Thanks, that's an interesting response. I'll not bother sealing mine, they seem waterproof enough for me.

Both of you are now my hero's. I have the Si. Not used it yet. And if your saying it's good enough, then it'll do for me. 😊

@@TheWalkingKev Yeah I never done mine either - and had no problems with it, condensation more of an issue on the Telemark1 😂need to try and scallop each end of the fly at the base to allow more airflow, not always easy but a tent peg, stick or rock can help to bevel it up a bit...👍👍

@@ALochOnTheWildSide yeah, the flysheet seems magnetically attracted to the inner! Any kind of breeze and they seem to be touching!

It's not a task I wanted to do as it's hard to do perfectly and didn't want to make the tent look messy. The folded seams and stitching seems to work well enough for me.

Very similar to fjallraven tents which are also not seam sealed

Yeah, the old folded seams and stitching. I've never used a Fjallraven tent, they're quite pricey even on the used market!

You should seam seal all tents, never trust that they are already sealed as some are not.

This tent is definitely not seam sealed and is waterproof enough for me.

I’d pitch a tent in the rain and wait and see. With the Nordisk Telemark 1 which I have, it has never let in a drop of rain, not seam sealed. Like a lot of these little backpacking tents, it gets condensation well enough but I carry a lightweight cloth and give the tent a wipe round on those mornings, it’s not a problem.
