Discovered Nicks channel a few weeks back. Now i watch/listen them while working. As an amateur photographer i find so much inspiration in his work.

Man, i just got thank you Ash for having these conversations, the "im too organized to be an artist" has haunted me most of my life, it good to know im not alone in that. your podcasts are a gift for all artists, thank you so much.

So inspiring, started out shooting film then moved to digital wish I still shot with film....thank you
Healthy self doubt, shows he's not a psychopath. Checked out Nick's work. Gorgeous stuff. I honestly don't care about the process, the end results speak for themselves. I know there's a lot of talk these days, with AI etc, on sharing the BTS to validate the art. I don't subscribe to that. The art is the art. If it needs to be justified or validated by extra media, or an verbose explanation of some esoteric technique or craft talk then it's not powerful enough. Nick's work is powerful enough in it's own right in my book. Great that he's sharing his process for those who are interested, but it's not necessary to validate the art. IMHO.
The more I hear, the more it sounds like the RUclips may be the legacy over the art. I'll check out the RUclips channel for sure.

As i understood, scanning negatives at say 4800 dpi produce a very highly resolved digital image comparable to extremely expensive digital camera? Not all can afford those and so film shooting may be good alternative?

Great interview gents. Re films vs Digital. A shit photographer with a film camera is always gonna suck next to a great photographer with a digital camera every time. And I see a LOT of shit, try hard, wannabee film photographers these days. A lot lot. Subjective I know, but also pretty dang true. So many try hard influencers who can't even frame decent shot, burning through film stock with reckless abandon. Practice your craft on a digital camera, even a phone before wasting money on film. Film won't make your art better, if you're shit, practice and get better on digital before you waste the film. Ash probably knows all this. I'm talking to the kids and try-hards chasing the dragon here. I'm lucky I was around at a time where we had full photography darkrooms in high-school. It's a lot of fun for sure, especially when you develop your own rolls and make your own prints with an enlarger, the chemical baths etc. Those chemicals smell so good! At least back then it was cheap. Now it's a bit of a luxury.
