If you overseeded in the fall, don't worry about a pre-emergent. Put down a post emergent herbicide when you see the weeds come up. But make sure that you get a few mows on your new lawn before you put that post emergent herbicide down on your newly seeded or overseeded lawn
@@PoloFieldsLawnService thanks for the reply Bro. I’m pretty much new to this, I watched a couple of your videos for guidance. Thank you for indirectly helping me take my lawn game to the next level. Looking forward to wearing my PFLS shirt. 💪🏽💪🏽
I get these weeds in my gravel driveway along the edge of my grass area. I have a big oval of grass surrounded by a circular drive, zone 7a. Can you recommend a post emerg herbicide for the weeds that won't harm the lawn? Thanks Polo!
Hello Jody, I assume that you have a cool season lawn? If so, for your store bought products: -Ortho Weed clear -Bioadvanced Lawn Weed and Crabgrass Killer Professional Products: Triad tz select (DONT MIX THIS WITH A SURFACTANT) Hope this helps 🙏🏾
Polo, You stay dropping Dimes! Great advice. Temps are cool at nice here in Charlotte. Fescue has growth from Seed/Aeration. I'll drop some Pre-Emergent in a couple of weeks. I know, or at least hear Pre-E will kill new seed as well. Thanks 👍💯
It will, just to be cautious. I normally don't put a pre-emergent down on the new seed that i plant in the fall. I just use a post emergent. I'll put a pre-emergent down next year before the spring temps arrive. I do this because the main focus is growing the grass. I don't want a pre-emergent disturbing the new seed that I just planted.
@@PoloFieldsLawnService I didn't know that. I didn't know about post emergent. Now I gotta do research. Just going off what I think I'm hearing. Appreciate the tips.
@geraldjohnson6545 A post emergent is just a herbicide that you will use to kill weeds. I don't know what you use or what weeds that you may have in your lawn, but it's basically just anything that you would use from your big box stores that kill weeds or something like speedzone. You can can a 3-way like speedzone or anything at lowes or Home Depot like Spectracide, etc.
A pre-emergent will be your best option to prevent them because they will last long. Now, if you currently have winter weeds in your lawn now and you're using tenacity, it will go after henbit and chickweed. Honestly, if you just use a basic 3-way like Speedzone, it'll do a better job than tenacity to take care of winter weeds that you currently see right now.
In this video, I break down Pre-emergents and how they work.

What about for those that over seeded in September?

I already have tenacity. Will that work to tackle winter weeds? Northeast Cool season.
