    Really liked this video. My only one gripe is, from my experience, fish over bluff catch with Aces. I just stacked off a fish at a 1/3 game twice tonight with a stronger Ace. I had the better Ace and just jammed and he snap called like he had quads both times. So on that last hand w/ Q 10 clubs I would just give up with the A on the turn. It's not that bluffs are NEVER working, they can from time to time but it's sort of diminishing returns.

    • @hungryhorsepoker

      just because they over call with Ax, doesnt mean the bluff isn't profitable. the size is just wrong. we should be targetting JhJx type hands to fold on river, as discussed. rewatch and pay attention to that discussion, may help your game a lot. we can always target diff part of range to fold.

    Marc and Alex,
    On the last hand, I definitely get the merits of keeping the range wide on the flop. Is there a counter argument to be made that because his overpairs on the flop are going to have a really really really hard time hanging on through the river.
    So let’s also bet big as a bluff on flop. Get value now while we still can. As they will be most inelastic on early streets. Then with hand like AA you can size down on future streets.
    Hands like 77,88,99 I think often won’t call twice on most run outs, so Just get more value early. I also think it simplifies later streets by not having to worry about the over card hands that call flop and how to best against play those. So if the EVs of the two sizes are pretty close, does a simpler strategy executed well do better than a more complicated strategy executed good but maybe not as good as the simpler one.

    I have a hand that's very similar to hand #1 that I'd LOVE to hear your opinion on. I'm in the middle vs a pf squeeze from the BB and a ss fish otb where we flop top 2 on KT9r. I'm really curious about BB's range when he continues otf, namely is he forking his range to the point where he never has the nuts in one node or he other

    • @stakkedoff
      @stakkedoff 2 месяца назад

      50nl, 110bb eff, 4 handed
      We 2.5 CO KhTh
      BTN calls
      BB squeeze to 11.5bb
      I call, BTN calls
      (35bb) Kc Ts 9d
      BB 8.32bb
      We?
      Actually idgaf about my strat, there's a fish IP, keep him in is my strat. What I'm genuinely curious about is BB 's continue multi-way, specifically do you think he ever has QJ when he continue? I can see an argument for having top end in a betting range just because there's a really good chance that if villain checks there's a really good chance it'll check through. I don't think that he's capped if he checks here, so my strat is going to be x range in 3pb when we're IP. But if I'm checking because villain is uncapped, with a range and nut advantage, then he's got to be missing some top end value in his cbetting range... But I already made a reasonably argument for why he would bet on this texture/config.
      So my argument appears to be circular. My logic is probably inconsistent somewhere. But I can't seem to identify where.
      He has to balance really well if he develops a cbetting range, and my gut tells me that pool would XR with the nuts, staying in a node that's more familiar. Even if flop does x thru, there's a lot of good things can happen for him on turns if he checks again, and since BTN came along pre and inflated the pot, he can still play a 2 street game and get it in on the river without having to use any really large sizes.

      no, they're not going to have any idea what you're doing. watch the "rivers" video. just because we have bluffs doesn't mean we're betting big, and just because we have value doesn't mean we're betting small. we're using overbets with value a TON. it depends on their range, not yours.

    • @aadfg0
      @aadfg0 2 месяца назад

      @@hungryhorsepoker I didn't mean the bluff -> big, value -> small. I mean all the 4 options in {small, big} x {value, bluff} and how we use them according to your videos, but I always feel that if I say everything precisely, then my comment gets really long, so I tried to summarize and erred on the other side. Do you mean the "one bet sizing to rule them all" video, or the "why your river bluff & value ..." video? I watched the former, I'll check out the latter later today.
      One guy I play likes to 3 bet light, overbets rivers on both value and bluff, and punishes cbets with check raises. He's the one I'm most worried will catch on, right now I just use my own exploitative strategy against him.

    I grind the low-limits for a living. The number one thing that is so important is game selection. The best games are those that are populated by people who are just trying to make hands and are not tricky. Easy to fold to their raises when they are never bluffing. When you play against the same people all the time, it's easy to have all the right semi-bluffs on the flop and turn, but bombing the river Is an art, that can only be learned through experience.

    • @hungryhorsepoker

      i disagree strongly. if you’re playing low stakes poker for profit - the number one thing that matters is getting better at poker. game selection is a crutch. address the problem at its core, don’t treat the symptom.

    GTO wizard kinda sucks. I never understood GTOs line on a balanced range or frequencies. In my experience it tends to favor really passive playing. Also if a strategy is statistically strong, shouldn’t you use that one instead of balancing? And GTO also made me too myopic. I was focused on my own hands too many times and calculating outs constantly and not what people told me through their actions and body language at the table. Besides, a lot of my successful bluffs GTO says never work. According to GTO I’m a loose maniac. Tell that to the win rate and the fact I still only play about 20 percent of hands. Anyways thanks horsey daddies I thought I’d leave a serious comment for once. 😘😘😘

    I think AA can even OB 3x pot on the river basically turning it into a SDV Bluff. Cause you can get called by some weaker 1pair hands with a flush or a straight blocker. And get fold from a Jx.
    You block nut flush and nut straight and if the guy doesn’t have a boat as the hero reasoned, then you able to get most of the trips to fold and get called by worse Kx.
    Also, I think block bet / 3betting line isn’t very profitable. It will work well when people bet thin on the river as IP. Which happens less in online poker and even less in live games. So you usually will be get raised into by a strong range. And if you were to 3bet a lot of your block bet hands you are going to be getting called a lot. For such a big exploit, you only need to be called once every 100 hands to wipe away your win rate for like 1000 hands. So it very hard hitting to your win rate. It’s not like you should never do it, but you can take bluff hands to begin with and be more efficient with your equity by using that. Also blocker with a pocket pair are terrible vs with a pair .

    In the QT hand if I was the HJ I’d 4b Axs like A2s+. It’s a fuck you 4b do not 3b me 😆 flat pairs to set mine, blockers 4b, TT+ maybe 99+ 4b for value, AQ+. The last thing I wanna do is let some regs 3b me to iso. I remember I 4b K8s in such spot and K5s 😄

      results listed in a few comments above. our general philosophy is always process over results, and we generally don’t care about what happened but the thought process we used. that’s how to get better. but i understand ppl like to have the curiosity itch scratched so will try to include results.

      That's what they all do. We know 95% of players lose and go broke and can't pay their backers if they have one. So they "take time off" from the game until they can find the scratch to get back in. It's called gambling, a losing proposition for most all
