As far as spec goes, the Fuel EX 7 and the Roscoe 8 have similar parts, with a $1100 difference in price. As far as performance on the Roscoe, I can ride it down 95% of the trails that I ride on my Slash. It's a seriously capable hardtail. I actually prefer the Roscoe on 50% of trails i ride. I'm lucky enough to have a full sus and a hardtail, but if I was getting only one bike to ride, I think I'd take a well built hardtail over a under speced full sus.

I just got a 2023 roscoe 8. Had one tiny nick in the paint and got it for 2200. I prefer hardtails over full suspension. The only time you need full suspension is if your doing massive downhill trails. Other than that a hardtail is the way to go.

I've had my Roscoe 9 for 3 weeks now, I'm 6'0" and went 2 sizes too small (I got an M, not the recommended L or M/L). It's sooooo good! It manuals like a dream and the rear end wants to pop up on demand. When I test rode the M/L it was too long and wouldn't manual if you want pop off obstacles and freeride stuff. The 29x2.6" tires are like cheater tires, huge traction everywhere, BUT they grip so well they're slower on pavement than grass, haha

The medium is plenty planted when you want to stick to trail but you can get it into a manual with ease when you want to jump or score style points. The medium also does trials work (pedal kicks and such) nicely with the super side bar and wide gooey tubeless tires. It reminds me of my trials bikes more than any trail bikes ever has!

I agree, I've owned 4 full suspension trail + freeride bikes, dirt jumpers, hardtails, etc, and I now do everything on my Roscoe. My full suspension riding buddies pull ahead on bumpy descents but I reel them back in on the climbs. On high and low speed corners we're about evenly matched. When we get to obstacles, I find the "pop" you get on a hardtail gives me a huge advantage jumping stuff. I also like intentionally breaking traction with the rear wheel to improve rotation, something that's harder to do on fullies.

@@Durwood71 Hardtails is ok if you ride casual trails. But sorry when it comes to tougher trails there is absolutely no comparison. I switched from decent hardtail mtb to full suspension crabon frame slash. Its not even the same planet. I was hesitant buying it because of the price, but once i did. Never looked back again. I can see myself riding hardtail on very casual ride in say wood trails. But anything else, not even close. Slash 170 mm front and 160 mm in the back with superdeluxe suspension flies over roots, stone tough terrain, jumps and you feel actually safe. The bike gives you far more security and confidence. My back was getting killed on hardtail. I can see hardtails being used, but if you have money there is no question. Go for the suspension any day of the week.

@@painterabc123 Most low end suspension bikes are still killer bikes. I mean if you have 3k. I would just save a bit more and go for about 4k mark. I went with 9000 dollar trek slash, but its meant for my specific riding of enduro etc. If you are casual rider and dont need to much suspension. Imo 2023 trek fuel ex is the best shit you cant get. For 4k you can get fuel ex 8. Its aluminium frame with pretty good components. Can do just about any terrain aside from like hardcore enduro and downhill. Still can handle some enduro. This is the best price to bike ratio out there. If you want enduro take slash 8. Its a beast of a bike for 4k. No offense bnut spending 3000 dollar on a hardtail i just dumb as hell. Fuel ex 8 looks miles better and rides levels above roscoe and price difference is 1k. No matter what components roscoe has it cant even be put in the same league as fuel ex8 with. You get fox float x and fox 36 in the front and shimano xt stuff. Not much better you can get out there.
