I find it so interesting that Courtney and I both are wavies but we're SO different. I have less wavy hair and lower density. My hair LOVES leave-in conditioners and dislikes gel. Like the amount of gel she uses - my hair will go into serious product build up and overload. I use very little gel when I do use it. On the other hand my hair DRINKS leave-in conditioners. Curl creams are heavy for me too. Both wavies, both so different.
Tips for hair that fall flat... Microplop as much water as you can out of your hair, especially if you air dry. Water weighs waves down. Section your hair to ensure your styler is applied to all areas. Brush your styler through your hair to ensure even distribution and make sure you use enough to hold that wave with a cast.
I hope you try these all again with diffusing and show the difference. Thanks for delving into affordable products for waves. Everyone likes saving money.
Crazy!! I just bought this shampoo last night.... Before I found this video. They did not have the matching conditioner, so I got bolero moisture and hydrate hair mask with coconut milk and banana. I did not see the gel .... Used these once and my hair feels great and looks pretty decent! Oh the dollars I could have been saving😂😂
Very nice...I love watching your technique. Definitely need to diffuse, but it's refreshing that someone can start inexpensively. In addition to the ingredients you watch or for, I look to avoid artificial fragrance, which eliminates a lot of choices. But it's much healthier!
Your hair looks beautiful and shiny! I would say just go ahead and diffuse next time. Rules are meant to be broken lol. Plus, even if someone was on a dollar tree budget they could still go get a cheap dryer and diffuser at walmart or on Amazon or something. Not your fault if the store doesn't carry something you need, right? But I still thought the hair looked great for such a minimal product routine.
Something to consider from hearing other people's testimonials is that silicones saved their bleached hair. I still wouldn't bleach my hair again but this was my experience as well. I also need a stronger shampoo formulation as someone who works out at least 4 times weekly and wants to go longer between washes.
I love your tshirt. My daughter just had a baby girl, my first granddaughter, and named her Esther Joy because this is one of her favorite Bible verses! I’d love to buy one for her if you could provide me with a link. ❤️
Cackling about the unicorn baby blankie plop! Thank you for doing this video. I only discovered your channel a month or two ago after discovering my frizzy dry hair is actually wavy. Then, I went down the rabbit hole, buying too many products. Then, I found "Curl Scan" and sadly tossed a few of the products I bought as they were not CG friendly. Then, I said, "What Am I Doing?!" I need to stop this madness and found this. Perfect. Back to basics is where I will feel most sane. (Plus, my hair is pink and purple (purpinkle?) so I know I have to customize.
I started my curly journey about the same time you did and I did buy all the things. Try the big bottle of blue LA Looks Sport gel. It’s amazing and the only thing I use.
Thank you for making these for each shop because i love seeing the options at lower price points because a lot of people shop at the lower cost places. May i give a suggestion of dollar general for a future routine?
Could you show us what this would look like if it was diffused? I watch Peachymaddie on RUclips shorts. She uses some of these products as her regular routine. I may have to check out the shampoo and conditioner now.
I suspect that the gel already had a lot of water in it and that’s why it disappeared when you applied it. Maybe if you didn’t have dripping wet hair when it was applied you might have gotten a better result. I think it’s the gel that didn’t quite perform. Although your hair still looked very shiny and bouncy.
Hi to everyone! Hi Courtney. Great video as usual!! I had the same experience with the gel. I have tried Mixed Chicks with some great results. Really like the leave in conditioner from Mixed Chicks. Gives a very slight cast. Just started using V & Co. s/c. They do not have stylers as yet. Really enjoying them too. Also wanted to say that I ordered, via Etsy, a hair towel from MysticHairwear. I LOVE it. Some may say it's a bit expensive, but I use it just about every day. Would be a great request for Mother's Day?!
Yes, do it over and diffuse. I would like to see it. Thanks for the video!
Yes, please do it over and diffuse! I’d love to see the end result!

What do you use product wise? I have low porosity hair too. But everything I use, waves fall flat within a couple hours after dry

Would love to see you use the same products but diffuse! It would be so interesting to see the difference it can make 😊
Yes I vote you redo and diffuse. I would love to see that option as well.
I’m really curious on how these products would work with diffusing the hair.
same!
Me too!

Me too!
+1
I hope you try these all again with diffusing and show the difference.

I sure do too! lol
Love this video. Learning what I'd do if luggage got lost or a quick trip without normal supplies 😊
Such a fun video! Makes me want to go to Dollar Tree and shop for curly hair products... 😁

I actually like the end result. It looks very natural and shiny. Your hair is so healthy!
hi! if possible can you recreate this video but instead of air drying you use a diffuser? I feel like it would look even better!
I wish TDTS in my area has as much stuff as yours. Using a babby blanket for plopping?! Who knew!? Great idea!

When I gave up silicones my hair turned to crap. It is so much better since I am using them again.

Amazing! I love a budget program. Really helpful and your hair is lovely!
I am so glad you like it!
You should do Marshall or t j max wash day.
I got one of those baby blankets as a "heat wrap" when I henna my hair, but I never thought to try it as a plopping towel!
I’ve used this gel and hated it! Now I want to try it again lol Would also love to see the diffused version😊
Thank you for making these for each shop because i love seeing the options at lower price points because a lot of people shop at the lower cost places. May i give a suggestion of dollar general for a future routine?
Thank you for the suggestion!
Can you do the same routine but with a hairdryer
I think your hair looks really nice! As wavies, we get to have all kinds of different styles and this is a pretty one!
Oh one thing you could do if you don’t like your hair being wet sitting down will air dry and it’s just put it up in a towel for like 15 and 20
Unfortunately, It does get wonky if I plop it to long.
I wish you had diffused! It looked amazing after plopping! Maybe remove the hair dryer restriction on the series? 😂🩷
Certainly wavier than when you don't use any gel and air dry. I like it. How are you doing with all the bad weather in Texas?

Oh man! Now I have to go to Dollar Tree for

This is me 😮I just moved cross country ❤ I needed this 😊 thank you
Glad this helped!!!
This is great! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
I think it looked great air dried! I wish mine looked like that lol
Awe thank you!
Haha the timing. I just watched the Walmart one.
That was helpful!
Thanks for a new video.
You bet!
I really appreciate these videos. I admittedly need all the help I can get.
Wouldn't you curls be curlier if you had layers?
I have wet frizz when scrunching my hair, does that happen with straight hair or no? Also good vid!
Also the wet frizz is kinky and wavy
Same 😢
FYI….More water will usually fix that. Best of luck 😊
YAAAASSS do these products and defuse your hair!!!
Yes!
nice video
Thanks
You could have cheated a little and taken a nice long drive with your heater blowing your hair 😂 😂😂
Ah true!
