Nice reaction guys, just like you said, Tarja Turunen (Ex-Nightwish) has an incredible, deep and dark operatic voice, she usually sings with her head voice but in this song, she also uses her chest voice in the verses. On the other hand, Sharon den Adel, the vocalist of Within Temptation, in her last albums sang in this more traditional mid and chest voice, but she can sing into ''operatic'' voice, if you want to hear Sharon singing in that way, you should react to the song ''The Promise (Black Symphony)''. It's an incredible song from the earlier days of Within Temptation

Tarja is famous from her head voice. But only the upper scale of the range is head voice.

they made a song with rapper xzibit he is from pimp my ride program on mtv i believe in the 90s a lot of people will say rap and rock don't mix but in this case absolutely great song! Within Temptation - And We Run ft. Xzibit (official music video)

Do you know DELAIN, another Dutch symphonic metal band with female lead vocals by Charlotte Wessels? They also had a female guitarist, Merle Bechtold. Sadly Delain broke up last year.

Both are wonderful vocalists alone, but I wouldn't mind to see the band with them both. Sharon brings the sexy raspy vocals which Tarja doesn't do, and and Tarja brings the epic operatic (and she also sings really beautiful without cloassical tone). And both are smoking hot and good friends, which shows when they're both on stage. Yeah, would make a good band. And that vocals with distortion and raspiness came from Marco with Tarja in Nightwish, and that was a duo band and a very good fit. Really like the heavy riffs in this song. There's a nice video making of this music video. A big effort of course, but it was worth it.

Many will regard this as sacreligious but, as someone who really doesn't like opera, it makes me averse to overly operatic-style vocals, even if the music is my kind of thing. Consequently, I've never made an effort to get into Nightwish. Whilst Within Temptation have some operatic moments, their awesome vocalist Sharon den Adel is generally more traditional in her delivery. The band, which has now been going for more than 25 years, is hugely popular across Europe, but not as much elsewhere. This can only be the case because rock as a genre has declined in popularity in many countries, criminally having been eclipsed by other styles such as rap, hip-hop etc and all of the terrible "music" featuring autotuned vocals which are an insult to the art of singing.
A couple of WT songs I'd particularly like to recommend (which let me say upfront aren't proggy) are the epic Black Symphony concert performances of "What Have You Done" (ruclips.net/video/xS0M3n6-27k/видео.html) and "Our Solemn Hour" (ruclips.net/video/qwCXVnd9GCU/видео.html)
