Oooh thankyou. I am now nearly ready to take off my first ever band (been following Elewys of Finchingfield and doing her Osberg 843AD pattern), but I will use this method to 'dismount' the loom! Thanks so much. New subscriber.
My wife (who's too shy to write to you) loves this solution, and believes she's even been able to improve on it: she ties a knot at the end opposite each loop, so that she can't accidentally pull the loop thread through without the weft thread. Many thanks for the idea!
I love this idea! I'm new to weaving. I would suggest, though, that you cut the weft a little short before passing it through the final loop so that it automatically ends INSIDE the weave. Then you don't have the butt end of it where you cut it showing.
This is something that I've been doing for a while. One tip that I have is to, instead of having to remember which way the loops are and such, just to take each of those strings and to tie a reef knot to make it a closed loop. If you're lucky and picked the right side to put the smooth loop on, then it's the same as this method, but even easier to pull through since you have the knot on your side. But if you didn't guess the correct direction, that;s fine too, you can just pull it through using the knotted side, which is slightly bumpy, but it's ultimately fine and you don't need to un-weave it. I've also been experimenting with making these loops different colours so that I remember which order to pull them through. it's been somewhat useful, especially since once or twice I have messed that up, and it's ended up quite awkward, especially when I'm doing a brocade on the back kind of thing
Such a clever method, though I might want to use different coloured yarns for the pull-through loops to make it easier for me to see. Thank you so much.
One of the amazing things about weaving is that we can each pick and choose what works for us. I love how adaptive it is! My techniques change not only with my physical setup (from loom to loom) but I'll do slightly different things with different materials or types of weaving.
super useful, thank you! Just one question: can you trim down the cut so that you have no fringes at all and still have the band safe from unravelling?
It's very simple! Each card is threaded with 2 strands of 2 colors. Then they're staggered so that card 1 is S threaded, card 2 is Z threaded, Card 3 is s threaded, Card 4 is Z threaded (continue). Then Cards 1 and 2 are matched with the lighter color on top, cards 3 and 4 rotated to have the darker color on top. Continue - then turn everything forward until there's too much twist, reverse until twist is an issue, repeat. :)
@@EllisifGydasdottir thank you! I actually tried guessing how to do it and managed to get it, s' and 'z's included. With you confirming the right technique, I feel more confident that I am doing it like the pros ;). Now, to work on proper tension...

I would be happy to have it translated by someone fluent! I do not speak Spanish. This loom is from Egil's Woodstuffs, he makes them. Here is a link www.egillswoodstuffs.com/
FINALLY a video / explanation where I understand how this works, and exactly how to do it! THANK YOU!
I'm so glad it's helpful!
This seems to be the easiest and least time consuming of methods. Thanks so much for sharing!
you're very welcome!

Your wife is a very very wise lady! Tell her not to be shy, I adore nerding out! :)
Thank You. Clear and concise makes learning for me extremely easy. Thank You, from a new band weaver.
This is so simple and clever. Thank you for making this video!
Love that pattern too. Reminds me of little Totoros. Can you link me to the pattern?
Thank you for this tip. I’ve just started weaving on an Inklette and I shall try this method of finishing with my first band.x

Totally works too! I've taken to using very sharp embroidery snips that let me clip right at the edge.
Wow. Just getting started, this is gold! Thank you!
You're very welcome
Your shuttle is beautiful!
This is great for the end! But how do I go back and do the beginning?

That makes a lot of sense!
Excellent tip. I'll be able to do this!
Wonderful! Please don't hesitate to ask questions if you get stuck!

that's a great idea!
This is excellent, thank you! Could I do the same kind of thing at the beginning of the band?
Qué bello diseño!!! ¿Cómo es el urdido?
Fantastic method. I'm going to adapt the pull through method from here to the beginning of my work too, it seems easier than your starting method.

thanks!!!! its awesome idea.
what about clossing the beggining??
Such a good idea! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Dziękuję 🎉❤
That is an awesome tip!

Good weaving
Thank you for the tip. I love this pattern for the belt! Are you willing to share it in a video?

@@lopostonia that is awesome!! Feel free to hit me up here or Facebook with anything I can help with. I'm proud of you!
Brilliant!!!
Brill tip, thanks.

Todo muy interesante
Pero falta traduccion por ejemplo castellano y mas detalle para hacer el telar
