  • At Vista Hermosa’s tortilla factory in Piscataway, New Jersey, workers make 100,000 corn tortillas and 30,000 flour tortillas a day. From there, they supply their tortillas to one of NYC’s favorite taco chains, Tacombi, and independent grocers throughout the country.

My favorite memory as a child was living next door to my friend Louis. Me being this pasty white kid who was a picky eater became friends with him and his family that were from Mexico. His mother had a shed out back if you can call it that. More of a lean to I guess. And she made her own home made corn tortillas over a fire. I used to sneak out at supper time just so I didnt have to eat some lame ass American food lol. They were so welcoming and loving that I started going to church with them. I had never been to a Catholic church before them and most of the attendees were Mexican. I'll tell you one thing if they ever try to welcome you into their circle they will never forget you. I'm 29 now I was like 8 years old then. I went away to college kept in touch with Louis and his parents the whole time and I still show up every thanksgiving and Christmas and receive regular packages in the mail of her amazing tortillas. Shout out to Louis and his mom I love y'all.

@@TTTHC Yeah, and so did the religions/ civilizations in the old world, as for Christianity people were sacrificed to god more often than to satan and even then that's not everything. Just look at the Christian/cathloic Crusades, wars that killed thousands including children all for the sake of God and reclaiming a "holy" land.
Scalping, a gruesome practice associated with New world "barbarism" was actually a practice started by Spanish conquistadors as a form of trophies, this deeply scared the surviors that the practice was adopted as a form of revenge for the anguish it caused. This is yet another form of crusade you can say.
Yes, Mayans and Aztecs did human sacrifices, a practice that has been done countlessly done throughout the known world, but is somehow seen as barbaric when they end up doing it because "????" that they are not from "old world" civilizations. Personally, Humans sacrifice is not my Forte but looking back at it from a humanity and its history, its practically another aspect of being human at this point.

I had the pleasure of doing some HR work for this company. I witnessed the company (Tacombi and Vista Hermosa) beautiful dedication and be heavily invested to the Mexican Culture. Therefore, when it comes to their ingredients, I can say that is true; everything they make is organic, genuine and fresh, EVERY DAY! In addition, the company has high standards when it comes to maintaining a clean facility. Although, I enjoy their flour tortillas, everything they make from tortillas to nachos, are amazing! You can find their tortillas in most organic supermarkets and Tacombi restaurants.

Good morning guys. in college, years ago, I worked at Frito Lay. the dorito/tostito line was nearly identical to this process except, commercial corn not organic and then fried and seasoned. Of course the scale was much larger. 10 people could produce 100,000 of Doritos/Tostitos in an 8 hours shift, all natural process for the plain chips (just salt). watching this really brought me back to that time on my life. The money was good and I needed it for school. Thanks,

Bro that’s wild, I remember growing up in queens in the mid 90s, my parents would say that the banderita or whatever gross bagged tortillas you had was a recent thing then. My dad and uncles would say after they came to NY in the late 80s that no one was making them and one of my uncles ended up moving back BECAUSE he wanted his tortillas and got fed up with white bread from the bag. I remember hating eating the generic brand too cause they were always small, constantly somehow damp, had a weird taste AND they tear easily leaving a f***’n mess all over. It wasn’t till they started making local tortillerias started popping up here in the south where I live now like maybe 6 or 7 years ago that I actually started enjoying my own ppl’s food again. I haven’t been back back in NY in years too and NOW we got proper factories that know what they are doing! F*** yeah! Lol I might just move back

This is great to know because, when I eat 40 soft shell tacos' from Taco Bell, I don't feel guilty anymore!😂

I would crush some major burritos with those flour tortillas. Tacos for the corn.
