I'm so glad, Laura, when I hear you talk about preferring to draw on paper. I'm maybe about 17-18 years older than you, grew up without internet/smartphones/tablets, and I am still all about paper. I'm also a bit of a Luddite, which I don't think you are, but it's so good to hear a younger person who prefers the more tangible pencil and paper. Not knocking the incredible things you that can be done digitally. Can't really compete with that, and yet, putting pen to paper has its own connection that is just not quite there with digital. Also that you still get in-print publications: Girl after my own heart. : )
Here, here! To dirty gardener feet and thorny roses! 🥂 Seriously though, I totally agree with your parenting style. Heavy equipment and tractors are serious, a scratch from a rose bush is a simple life lesson. We can only worry about so many things as parents. I have two teenagers and it is a constant evaluation of risk. But the more I let them do, the more they surprise me with their amazing capabilities.
On the being worried or concerned note I think it’s so refreshing that you’re not overly worried. But also like thorns aren’t gonna kill anyone. But it’s nice to see a momma we know isnt neglectful but also not ridiculous.
Yeah. If you really think about all the things that are able to hurt Kids you wouldn't even have kids. So people should be cautious but not be ridiculous. Rose thorns smh.
“I can’t imagine growing up in my parents garden without roses.” What a lovely statement and memory. I think we sometimes take for granted the beauty of a garden and how our children remember that beauty. Love your channel. I started watching a few months ago and quickly became addicted. I have been watching earlier videos and love seeing the progress on your property. ❤️❤️
Laura and Aaron, do you really think we’re letting you guys go anywhere 🤣🤣🤣. I intend to be watching you when I’m too old to garden. Love you both and your beautiful family 💙💖💙💖
I just love me some Russell and Cheddar!! I think Russell definitely loves to be on camera. He knows what is going on when he sees the camera come out.
If a delivery truck can back into a tree, not be aware of it and then drive away, then Laura is right to be concerned about Benjamin and the UPS truck. Laura’s fears are very balanced.
There are lots of studies that link creativity to the actual hand movement of drawing / writing. You stay old school, girl. I have notebooks going back 20 years, and I don't have to worry about a thunderstorm making me lose all my old notes.
I love going back through my plant and beekeeping journals to read my notes, things I saw that day, and drawings I do of plants or animals. You are right that the brain/memory is very much link to handwriting/drawing and I found when studying if I handwrote things I remembered them much better. I teach some memory skills and one is to memorize all Prime Ministers of Canada. I have them draw images along with the training and in 15 minutes they are able to quote them all accurately.
@@barbll000 So true. I believe the Montesorri method teaches this way. The more senses involved in the learning, the better the retention. I'll never give up my notebooks and paper. ~ Lisa
Love your take on level of worry with your kids. They’ve got to learn somehow. Some things are truly dangerous, some aren’t. Scratches from a rose bush aren’t 🙂
Wow! Laura is wearing a light colored shirt! Funny y’all talked about what it’ll be like in 10 years. I was just thinking the other day how I hope you continue to do videos for years to come! You’re so enjoyable to watch and the videos are so informative. Also, it’ll be awesome to see all that hard work mature! Here’s hoping for at least 10 more years of GA videos on RUclips!!! 🤞🏻
Omg, I never thought of Garden Answer not being on YT, etc....I hope that you guys choose to stay on here forever! Also, Who doesn't love Tulips?!? Lol
from the video & comments yesterday, i got inspired to go out and prune my roses. also groomed all the planters, cleared a lettuce bed & prepped it for new crop. stayed out most of the day doing garden chores. it was a beautiful day, thanks for the inspiration everybody!!!
We have a daughter that is Benjamin's age and our rule with the tractor is that she is either on the tractor with us or she is with another adult when the tractor is in use.
I think Russell and Cheddar need to have their own channel or better yet a cartoon! 😆 I just love how Russell is always popping his head in, trying to look at what's going on. You should add thought bubbles once and a while. Would be funny 😄
When you think about it.. 10 years is really only 10 more seasons. Translation: I think Laura and Aaron would have absolutely no problem keeping their channel going for a nice long time so long as they want to! 💗💗💗
I think it's wonderful that you refuse to completely let go of old school drawing. Technology has taken over our youth to a degree where they do not have to think for themselves. 💜 ALSO.... Please have Aaron wear a clear mic so I can hear when he speaks IF HE WILL NOT GET IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA! You both are SO CUTE and VERY PHOTOGENIC! 😊💜
You are the least crazy person I can think of! You are both a great team and very down to earth, sensible folks. You dream big! Nothing wrong with that.
I love the shared format with both you and Aaron. I have very much noticed how often Laura will ask what the name of a plant is and every time Aaron answers correctly!!!!! His knowledge/learning curve on plants has gone straight up. Congrats Aaron for making an effort to learn, even though it might not be as interesting as working on technical equipment or drones :) I hired my nephew last summer to do the hard slugging I couldn't do and he planted my plants too and he was very proud of his work and that he learned to recognize the plants and name them.
Guys you are the best! I have started watching you late 2015 , when I gave birth to my son. I mean I remember the videos when you moved in your house. It is amazing how much you have both evolved and I have to say , especially Aaron. I mean now he is so in to all you do Laura. And really when I heard in a previous video that he wants also to arrange flowers I smiled really hard! You are the best! And although I live in an Apartment in Athens, Greece, you are such an inspiration! Thank you both formeverything! Kisses and hugs from sunkissing Athens
I"m in central/Michigan and I think you are a full month 'ahead' of us on temps and bulbs peeking thru!! I can't wait to see the ones I put in pots too!!! Love peeking in on your progress and seeing it all happen.
I agree! I've seen a few comments here that said he wasn't wearing one this time, but I could easily hear him and thought he was. Very odd... but I wear headphones or earbuds, so maybe the sound is just better for me, I don't know?
Any milkweed I’ve grown gets swamped with those yellow aphids. Once they are in the garden, they are usually brought under control of the ladybugs, hover fly larva and parasitic wasps that are already there. If you try to make your garden as inviting as possible to beneficial insects, these things come into balance.
I remember my childhood and roller skating down the special, seamless sidewalk my Dad built especially for that purpose. There was a corner we skated around with a climbing yellow rose on the white fence. If you weren't careful on that turn, you would hit the fence and the get thorns in your hands. I learned to be very careful. My favorite rose color is still yellow!
YAAY! You replied to my question about the winter watering of the evergreens by your door! I had to tell my husband and sent him the link. 😂 I have two baby Christmas trees at my front door and two box woods under the eaves near my front door, facing East, and I don’t think I watered them as much as you did yours, but they still look alive! So I’m hopeful they are good to go and will try to water more this next winter season. Thanks for answering my question! There’s been other videos that you say you water potted evergreens during the winter but I never caught where you said how often, or I was just glazed over by the beauty of the arrangement at the moment. Anyway, thanks again!
Doing a check for little ones around equipment is so smart. I know a man who lost his arm as a two year old because he was napping in a field when his dad, a farmer, accidentally ran over the child with farm equipment. He didn’t know his son was there. Although my friend lost his arm he has had a wonderful life since. His dad must have had nightmares for years after that incident though.
This reminds of my grandma's neighbor. He run over his toddler with his 18-wheeler. He was a truck driver, he was leaving and didn't see his son coming to say bye. That little boy didn't have a chance. I can't imagine being that poor guy and family. The nightmares, blame, everything.
🥰Awwwww, love those updates on Samantha Grace and Benjamin, too! And your gardening ideas and answers are good, too!! Love enjoying my coffee with L&A and audience. Congrats to the winners! I plan to order the book and journal, too, it’s so beautiful. Be well everyone 💕🦋👏🏻🪴
@@allysonh6410 haha I am guilty for wearing all black myself... so me liking her shirt is a BIG deal. (I’ve noticed I even said “shade” and not color LOL.) My poor 90 yo grandma “You should wear more color, dear!”
Everyday...even a couple times a day, I am out looking at my tulips and daffodils popping out of the ground. Almost willing them on everyday...can't wait for that Spring color!!!
Haha, I love that you guys are so real about taxes, real life, sleep with kids and life with a business. Thank you for reminding me that we are all human 💕 I love that you show this!!
People ask the strangest things... but I liked how "real" you both are in the this one, less filtered and more honest. You're a lifestyle brand and I personally like seeing the frustrations, uncertainty and real life stuff peek through the veil sometimes. It makes you more accessible and less unattainable, LOVE the channels really influenced some of my gardening and made me want to move out of the city!
I think part of the reason we ask about you tying your hair up is that you are always having to fiddle with it, flip it out of your eyes etc. Tying it back brings so much freedom.
Love your video again! I wear my hair down and always have. Raining? I put a baseball hat on. Keep doing things how you're doing. You're perfect at it. Love, Hugs, Prayers.
I think newer subscriptions would really enjoy and benefit from going back to the beginning and watching all the videos. I did that a few years ago and watched them from the start all winter long. By spring I was ready to go!!!
Aaron workaholism is real. Labor of love is still labor. Don't burn the candle at both ends. Personally speaking I love Garden Answer. I feel like Laura is a source of joy and would thrive with a life style vlog. (She already does some of this naturally) I understand the need for privacy and it is invaluable but I would love to see the other side of things. Have a wonderful day and thank you for being.
I recently have been using clover as a ground cover or alternative to grass... It is draught tolerant, only gets a few inches tall, and grows flowers too... It can handle shade or full sun, swamp or draught... Food for thought there 😊
Thnk You so much Laura for in one of your Video you said about fell go twos I Bought them And they worked out great thank you for all the tips you gave us in all of the videos we very much appreciated You saved one of our trees because of your videos you make thank you Laura! God-bless you Laura!

Congratulations winner's!! Thank you Aaron & Laura for all you do! Y'all are an amazing team! When I worked in a florist shop, we used Pokon leaf shine. I still do!
Love the back and forth banter, healthy in a relationship. Smiles at seven weeks...raising an eyebrow...sure it's not gas...ha ha ha. you will have to post a pic of that so we all can say awhhh.
@@YSLRD Was a bit of good natured teasing, not saying their baby isn't smiling. Proud parent statement and similar to proud grandparent statements. Their baby is always the cutest smartest fastest. ect ect ect.
❤️ You guys are so awesome! Thank you for everything you do!!! Laura, I understand your love of paper. You might want to check out Paperlike for your iPad. I think you’ll enjoy the way it makes your iPad feel like paper. Not sponsored. 😂 I love the way you two collaborate! It’s truly relationship goals!!!
My kids and I have made some mason and leaf cutter bee homes the last few years. They are slowly “moving in” and more and more come into our garden each year. So much fun and just a very relaxed way to encourage bee friends to stick around😄
Thanks and congratulations on your answer to the worries question. Keep on allowing your children to experience the whole world (in proportion to their age and stage in life). This encourages independence and personal growth.
I grew. Upvaround roses mom just iodined it and sent me back out with a now you know why ivsay stay away from them. Her rosemary was a huge ring and attracted bees but ones stung we learned to leave them alone. I can't imagine not having leatning moments in life. There is so much more in this world they are growing in now-a-days to worry about. But you do your best and hope they learn well lifes lessons. You pray that things and people that csn do harm stays awsy as they grow up and ecplore outside the comfort and protection of home.
I think it’s natural to be concerned about tractor and cars hitting our kids. The difference is huge. Roses might hurt, but equipment can cause real harm. We think and feel concerned about things that can cause real harm and teach our kids to be cautious of that.
I'm a big fan of teaching kids the proper way to behave and treat things. I never did a lot of child proofing, neither did my parents. I was taught at an early age to respect my parents things, if theyrr not toys dont play with it. Trained my daughter the same way. I wouldn't not have a certain plant or shrub in my yard unless my kid was allergic to it. It's better to train your kid, then expect the world to change for them.
FYI, I ordered some of the EuroScrubby cleaner right after watching the video where you cleaned the window boxes because I was so impressed. I live in BC, Canada, and was able to order some of it through the HOUSE OF KNIVES, if anyone is interested. Not sure if you have such stores in the US. The shipping cost me nearly as much as the cleaner, but I didn't care 'cause I need something magical like that around here! Thanks for turning me on to this product. Now I just need to get into spring cleaning mode! Hahaha!
For your containers with bulbs that only the one side is growing, try turning them. If it is in fact the south facing sun, it’ll help push the sleepy flowers up to match their siblings. Maybe..? 🤷🏼♀️
The Impatient Gardner just did a dahlia tuber dividing. Aphids I heard if you take a yellow solo cup upside down and covered with vasaline . Then put the cup on a stick the aphids go there. Maybe it will work. Love the color of the new studio and the begonias are beautiful. When you were talking about your bulbs only half coming up in a pot. Maybe do a test and turn some of the pots around and see if it is the sun heating the pot sooner. As far as teaching Benjamin about the cars, trucks etc. You are also teaching him to listen to his enviroment and what is going on around him and being aware. Seems like kids don't know how to learn and watch about what is going on around them. You two are doing a great job. Thank you.
A field of clover under those trees? I think I remember NorthLawn flower garden lady said that was her grass. Yes, I remember my Dad’s caution when we were barefoot “watch out for those bees”, but I always love sitting in clover!
I love watching your videos later in the day because they are so calming yet very informative as well and also funny and cute esp with the babies n cats 💖
Arron, have you considered a propane torch to kill your weeds - especially in the drive? It would eliminate a bunch of chemicals. We’ve recently switched to it. Yo can torch the are you’re planning to put grass seed, prior to seeding to help control new weed seeds. Best Vicki P.🌸
I get those yellow aphids on my milkweed also. They are called Oleander aphids. I spray them off with my water hose. The lady bugs do try but there are so many.
I was wondering about planting a host plant, I remember Laura saying how much the aphids loved colendula and seemed to leave other things alone, just an idea
When you have a lot of hair if you put it up it pulls and makes scalp sore & can cause headaches. I have longer hair than Laura & never wear a ponytail. You live with your hair it’s just a part of you & you don’t notice it. Keeps you clean & protected too. Hair down doesn’t bother me one bit. I don’t like wearing gloves or mask either. Natural all the way. You grow stronger when you don’t worry about things you shouldn’t worry about. 🌎💜
My daughter is just 2 or 3 months younger than Benjamin and we are in the SAME boat. Also our first. Also, like you, my first real experience with babies or young children -- steep learning curve!
I really don't get it why some people are so worried about your hair being down ,but am with you I have long hair and I never put it up even working in the gardens in high winds lol my hair is always down .
The way my hair grows it is always in my eyes unless it is in a ponytail or clipped in the front. When i first started watching these videos i just didn't understand how she could get any work done always wiping hair out of her face. Turns out she has perfect hair haha.

You are not alone, I was so extra careful not to have anything Covering their nose ,now I sometimes take care of invalids people and does the same
I can’t stop staring at the lemon tree with fruit and have always wondered how they are pollinated when they are indoors.
She does that herself. With a little brush.
They needs the right environment, I put mine outside and it was beautiful, back inside it was a disaster most of the leaves are gone, I give up
Did she do a video on the lemon tree?
Oh she answered my question in the next session😄
@@paulaline7510 yes last year - run a search on their videos
Great video Laura you always impress me every single time!🌱🌿💚👑🌼
I use Marigolds for keeping aphids away! Works amazing!
Congratulations winner's!! Thank you Aaron & Laura for all you do! Y'all are an amazing team!
When I worked in a florist shop, we used Pokon leaf shine. I still do!
How funny that your daffodils are growing on the south side of your pots! My father, retired farmer, who lives with us told me that would happen!!!
So glad i found your channel, I enjoy listening to how to take care of gardens, I live in the north and unfortunately our season is short and cold
Love the back and forth banter, healthy in a relationship. Smiles at seven weeks...raising an eyebrow...sure it's not gas...ha ha ha. you will have to post a pic of that so we all can say awhhh.
Seven weeks is not unusual.
Russell adores you!
Hahaha!
I'm so excited for spring, and seeing all the beautiful flowers.
Laura have you ever been to the Chelsea flower show in England?
ROFL...this couple is crazy in a good way. Much love!!!
another great Laura and Aaron show !!
Gotta get the Procreate program for drawing on the iPad! Game changer!
For your containers with bulbs that only the one side is growing, try turning them. If it is in fact the south facing sun, it’ll help push the sleepy flowers up to match their siblings. Maybe..? 🤷🏼♀️
I'm with you Laura on the ponytail subject , I have grown girls that wear a ponytail all the time..didn't get if from me!.
You both compliment each other!
🥳 I love all the videos Just to let you know I watch all of your videos!
Norwex cleaning paste looks really similar to that cleaner. And no harsh chemicals, I’m a consultant now because I’m obsessed with their products 😄
Thank you.
You go Laura!!! Paper and pencil all the way !!! 😁
A field of clover under those trees? I think I remember NorthLawn flower garden lady said that was her grass. Yes, I remember my Dad’s caution when we were barefoot “watch out for those bees”, but I always love sitting in clover!
Laura... I think that greenhouse is gonna be fantastic... You gonna get people wanting to tour it and get married there...
Best Quote: "my face was hurting cause I was smiling so hard back at her!"
Oh I forgot about the ponytail! Did I miss the video where you were going to wear a ponytail to celebrate your 1 million subscribers?
I get those yellow aphids on my milkweed also. They are called Oleander aphids. I spray them off with my water hose. The lady bugs do try but there are so many.
I was wondering about planting a host plant, I remember Laura saying how much the aphids loved colendula and seemed to leave other things alone, just an idea
in the orchard how about wildflowers
Rotate the pots so they get warm on the other side ❤️❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊
