Today we are going to put the Romulan D'deridex Class against the Klingon Negh'Var.
This time we will be playing the battle in the New Bridge Commander Remastered UE 15 (Under Development).
In terms of predictions I think these ships are evenly matched.

I would have loved to see the Klingons meet the Hirogen
At 4:47 the Romulan Warbird does a shield redistribution and fully regenerates their failed forward shields. Cheating if you can’t do that. Send in the Grand Nagus to deal with treacherous cheaters!
my guess is because AI sucks at positioning the ship this is a balancing mechanism

I agree with you... it was 50/50.
The Klingons had the firepower, but the D'dererix class has more power and better shields.
Oh, and when you were firing at the Klingon bridge, you might have killed the captain's pet targ. 😆
This one seems pretty clear even just on paper. The D'Deridex was about on par with a Galaxy, but the Negh'var was a next generation ship, something like the Sovereign of the Klingon fleet.
And this was the first time AI did double-ramming on you :))) AI....what a comedian :P
It's all fun & games until AI starts asking about nuclear vessels...

Nice to see the D'deridex look fearsome again! Considering how ginormous it is, how powerful it was supposed to be, we've seen it get beaten rather too easily.
What about the scout battles. Its always big ship verses big ship. Do a Klingon vs Romulan scout ships battle.
😨oh crikey Admiral. yes both ships are very well matched and they rammed and the Warbirds survived a collision.. wow.. ok now know why in other game Sela says those things gosh.. lol I knew it.. gosh.. this was a freaky battle.. jeepers and the Warbird kept going. gosh. and saw the size difference too. wow.. lol. Sela's message after game crashed.. still great battle Admiral.. gosh. interesting.. !!!😊🖖

If you ask me, the Negh'var actually seemed to be out DPM-ing the D'deridex in both matches.

I think Neghvar would’ve outdone the Warbird if not for the AI somehow diverting shield strength at will

Honestly the D'deridex is more prop than warship given how the Romulan Empire operates

It is possible to pull out a win with a Negh'Var against a Romulan warbird but it has a lot of trouble, especially if you hang out in front of those disruptor cannons.
I truly believe the Neghvar is the more powerful, durable ship. The Romulan warbird has strong shields, but once they fail that's it, the ship's hull is weak. We see in Message in a bottle that when the warbirds shields fail, a single phaser hit destroys a huge area of the ship. The Neghvar can take far more punishment, even multiple pulse phaser hits to the hull from a Defiant class with only small breaches. From what is seen on screen the Neghvar can also put out a LOT of disruptor fire in all directions. The Warbird can't.
klingons and romulans are both more millitant than some other races as such they all prefer forward facing weapons they also exchaged a lot of tech back when they were allies which is why they use similar disruptor tech and cloaking devices, romulans how ever are more cautious than klingons so they would have diverted more in to shields and hull while klingons tend to go for speed and weapon power so they can do attack runs or fast ambushes so it is again a case of offence vs defence.
I was recently looking at the USS Xenophon, Marklin-class destroyer, which FASA gave to Garth of Izar. Now THAT is a ship that I wanted to see in a pre-TOS show. Discovery's ships have got nacelles which feel off to me.

if I remember correctly from the old RPG and tech manuals from the 70's /early 80's the Klingon had great shields forward but weaker aft.
That would make sense, given the lion's share of Klingon ship weapons tend to fire forward.

I think that was the first time when you survived from ramming speed-manouver.
One Enterprise-D. Three Klingon Heavy Cruisers. Two D'deridex. All pre-refit, pre-Dominion War. What would have happened if the Romulans hadn't backed down? ST: TNG episode "The Defector."
In my mind the D'Deridex should be able to take on 2 Negh'vars

you should do the phase 2 enterprise aka the reliant vs the uss enterprise refit remake but a what if episode kind of like the marvels what if cartoon show.
LOL That was hilarious when in the Romulan Warbird the Negh'var rammed you. Then when you were in the Negh'var the Warbird rammed you and attempted to self destruct. I laughed pretty hard at both times.
Interesting how the game crashed right at the end there. It just goes to show how toughly built the Romulan D'deridex Warbirds are built.

Next time try hitting the rear of the Warbird and its engines. Leave it unmoanoverable and then you can destroy it no problem.
Has anyone done a D'Deridex vs a Valdore?
The D'deridex crushes the Valdore. Although in reality it should be the other way around? The Valdore was a replacement for the D'deridex. 🖖
In comparison, the Warbird was comparatively more powerful than the Valdore who replaced her. Seemingly a step backwards no???
I've always thought that. A few people have commented thinking it's not a direct replacement. Certainly feels like a weight class below it. A bit like Voyager to the Enterprise D.
Romulans are my favorite
The Negvhar is a much more durable ship than any D'Deridex. Warbirds are glass cannons and you would have won the battle easily by simply not playing to the Warbird's strength by staying in front of it. Get above or below the Warbird and it is well and truly fucked.
Why fight the Warbird on its terms by staying in its one good weapons arc?
D'deridex class wins on looks and technology.
Looks like it could go either way. Imagine if the klingons were better pilots they'd have won that first one.

Why is it, every damn time you do one of these battles, you turn and show YOUR SHIP'S ASS TO YOUR ENEMY'S FOREWARD WEAPONS??? That's NEVER a valid strategy, excepting to give your strongest shields to the enemy while you try to recover downed shields. Never heard of something called "Minimum Aspect" huh?
