In my opinion, Maggie and Art failed to press LE on some troubling issues - especially problems with the timeline. My impression was that Maggie and Art were willing and even eager to accept the police version of events without pressing for collaboration. For instance, at least in the edited version of the show, they did not ask Cecil Smith where he was when he got the 7:29pm dispatch to go to Maura’s accident scene. His location and the route he took to the scene would determine if he could have been the police officer who Witness A says passed her on Swiftwater Road by the hospital and again at the junction of Goose Lane and Route 112. His location at the time of his dispatch could also substantiate his reported arrival at the accident scene of 7:46pm. For instance, if Smith was at or near police headquarters on Route 10 when he received the call than an arrival time of 7:46pm seems reasonable. His last call at 6:08pm had him in that vicinity. However, if he was in or near Woodsville center when he received the call than an arrival time of 7:40pm or sooner would make more sense and he could very well have been the officer Witness A saw that night. In that case the 7:46pm reported arrival time would simply be inaccurate which shrinks the time that Maura could disappear to just a few minutes. They also could have asked LE about the video and metadata from SUV 001’s dash camera to help establish Smith’s arrival time. We know from RUclips videos of Officer McKay’s traffic stops that the smaller town of Franconia was using dash cameras as early as 2003. My guess is Haverhill had them too and that they were automatically activated when the cruiser’s flashing lights were turned on. Substantiating the time Officer Smith arrived on the scene is crucial to ruling out the possibility that another officer could have arrived on the scene 5 to 10 minutes before him. In my opinion these are nagging loose ends that the show did not attempt to address.
Blow your nose Tim. :) While it would have been a bit unrealistic to have expected Oxygen to station people in the room next to the LE interviews like they did with Kathleen, can you guys gain access to the unedited interviews and have a body language expert on the podcast review them? That would cover all the bases as far as that might be concerned, and perhaps offer an interesting new perspective. For the record, Cecil Smith didn't know he was chasing Williams (who was in a vehicle that wasn't his own) when he "arrested" him. He turned it over to NHSP when he realized who he had pulled over. Also Smith was not "inaccurately identified" as H2, he was H2. That refers to the officer not the vehicle. It doesn't state what vehicle he was in at all on the log. Why was the rumor, that John Smith has always put forth, that Cecil Smith began the shift in 001, which would explain Art and Maggie's "proof", but then switched with Williams that afternoon after Williams went off the road at 4:30 PM (allegedly due to being inebriated himself) and was pulled out by Dick McKean never addressed? Can you pursue that further?
Chloe’s assertion that Cecil Smith wouldn’t remain covering for Williams because he showed a lack of loyalty on other occasions is very short-sighted and naive. If Smith could potentially be charged for helping Williams commit a crime that has no statute of limitations, and could ruin both of their reputations and lives, he still has big incentive to keep covering up that particular incident.
I’m not saying the medium they brought in is bogus but it’s really to believe she knew nothing about this disappearance prior. Maura Murray has practically become a house hold name in crime solving.
Think about how many crimes and missing people cases there are. It's impossible to know them all. Heck I'm a huge true crime fan and even I didn't know about Maura Murray until 2014. The only way I found her was because I was researching a different missing person case... which also happened to involve a woman who disappeared after a car accident. with that said, I think psychics really are a waste of time and resources.
I’m not saying she absolutely knew of this case. She is a higher profile medium with a successfulTV series based on her real life experience helping law enforcement. Maura’s Story is unusual and received a lot of attention world wide. It seems like a case someone with her own spotlight may have some knowledge of. Just a thought as I watched the last installment of the oxygen series. Of course no one can know all of the cases out there.
Allison DuBois, the psychic, had a TV show on NBC, the parent company of the Oxygen Network that aired this six part series. Surely there were friends and associates with knowledge about the show's topic. Most of what Allison said could have been taken from Wikipedia or reading a few blogs. Then she made up the rest, just like Sylvia Browne, etc.

I would love to put the SUV question to rest. And I feel like it can be done, but I have a few more questions about it that have not been answered. For example, where did the private investigator who told Witness A that the SUV was "out of service" get that info? Was it a mistake, misunderstanding or a lie someone told him? I would like the Private Investigator who gave that info to explain. This specific info from that private investigator, together with Witness A's account that the police asked her if she was SURE the SUV was the one at the scene just sticks in my craw. That is a weird question for them to ask, when they are the ones who should have had the answer to that question themselves.
^ This! That private investigator was also then-President of the New Hampshire League of Investigators and a retired 20-year veteran of the New Hampshire State Police, he wasn't just some Joe Schmoe spreading local rumor. I'd like to hear from Healy personally. Also, according to Renner's interview with Healy: - Healy believes Maura was murdered. "We're sure she was killed. Very interesting discussion of the "A-Frame house" scenario. You've done a good job of honing in on the facts in this case. It makes sense that whatever happened to Maura that night, it happened quickly and probably stayed in the immediate area. There's a very good chance she ended up at the A-Frame house that night. 30:01 Agreed. Question: Were the initials "MM" carved into a window sill in that house? Just seems like I caught a glimpse of that once.
I feel like this is a solvable crime. Idk why. Sometimes I get a gut feeling and have been right many times. I feel like this is gonna have an answer one day for some reason. Or at very least someone is gonna come forward with some credible evidence or story that ties things together. I sorta feel that it's likely she ran away but I also think Atwood seems super guilty and as we know... it's always the husband / wife or last person to see her. Not to mention 112dirtbag actually references a bus driver in one of his cryptic videos. I think he knows the bus driver. Anyone know if this is possible or if anyone looked into that. Could they have known each other?
Guys, you're overlooking something about the bloody knife: the knife was given to Fred with a backstory, and then Fred gave it to the police with the backstory. So even if the knife had Maura's blood on it, the problem is the police can't prove that it had anything to do with the A-frame. What SHOULD have happened is Larry should've contacted the police and let them collect the knife for themselves. Larry also should have told the police about his suspicions, not go through Fred. Perhaps the knife has Maura's blood and for that reason the police are certain she is the victim of foul play. But unfortunately the way the knife was given to them probably makes it planted evidence at best. And the system has to work this way. Otherwise I could just give the police a bloody knife and claim it from from any random house and the police could raid the place. Obviously it doesn't work that way.
Right I understand. But what I'm addressing is the idea that if it had Maura's blood, then the police would have raided the A-frame. I don't think that's necessarily true. To reiterate, the problem is the police didn't happen upon this knife. It was given to them by Fred who in turn received it from someone else. That might make it inadmissible in court, and it gives the police no way to link it to the A-frame.
Art said something early on in the show that certainly very true, but it is not just true of other people it is just as true for him and Maggie. Once you reach a conclusion you will become emotionally attached to it and you will look for evidence to support or evidence that discounts other theories. This is something you need to be careful of. It kind of sounded like when Art was saying it it was in reference to James, but more importantly it is something to be aware of for yourself. The series did a good job discounting the suicide I thought, but a poor job discounting James' theory. I don't believe it is that difficult to get a new identity and start a new life and it should have been a theory left on the table even if you don't believe in it. It wasn't even considered a possibility on Maggie's little notes of paper. This would also be my main criticism for this podcast, seems to be they are looking very hard to look for evidence that supports their theory.

The DNA on the knife could not be used any more than the DNA on the wood chips. The knife blood could match the wood chips blood or be Maura's for all we know. Because of the chain of custody and possible accidental or intentional contamination, neither will be used in court. Clint Harting the intact male DNA profile could be useful, if not in this case, then in some other case(s). It could be (and hopefully is being) compared to law enforcement databases of known convicts and their DNA.
I actually think the claims that they have no evidence suggesting foul play is carefully worded because technically, they don't...at least not in the eyes of the court. But that doesn't necessarily mean their findings ruled it out. The last thing they can do is say "Yeah, we matched Maura's DNA, but we can't use it because of how it was collected." and have the world rage over a killer that's gotten away with it on a technicality. I have no trouble seeing someone taking justice into their own hands. And the worst part is, the one being served may not be the right guy.
