  • Steve Thompson is a former England rugby player and he played in every England match during the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
But today, age 43, Steve remembers nothing about that final. And in 2020 he was diagnosed with early-onset dementia - and probable chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
In today’s episode Krishnan talks to him about his diagnosis, the impact it’s had on his mental health and his memoir, ‘Unforgettable’.

That quote from Steve's in the thumbnail almost makes me want to cry. Fabulous player, so sorry for what he's having to go through.

It's not CET but CTE Krish, and it can only be diagnosed after death.

As Steve says in fairness "probable" CTE. We are all with you Steve, fair play to you.

I have left side brain damage. Short term memory and spoken language, in and out, is fucked. This moment is all that is happening. Cry, it's grief. Grief is inordinately powerful. When you reach the end there are a few things that are valuable to you. This makes life worth it. X

I'm in SA listening to your interview. It breaks my heart. Your kids are so young. Dr Bredesen says start treatment early.
In a village of SA, I was astounded that they had 3 copies of "End of Alzheimers"
A healthy gut is a healthy brain. Medicine wants to give one silver bullet ( drug) Dr Bredesen says there could be 36 causes.

I don't know whether this will get to Steve but I want him to know that there's hope. There's physical, dietary choices je can make to buy him additional time:
    Extra virgin coconut oil.
Turmeric and black pepper tea (make it yourself).
    Panax ginseng.
    Lions mane.
    Black seed oil, extra virgin.
    Drink more water.
    Blue berries, walnuts, spinach.
Quit sugar. Look at ketogenic diet.
But please do your research for yourself.

Look at rugby league, compare it. Less contact episodes, less physical scrums, less head injury.

    Pretentious title alert.
Ryan Jones the Welsh rugby team past captain has been diagnosed this week, too. Something needs to be done. Or do we consider it just like boxing?

I just watched a video of Uighurs in Xinjiang and was shocked by level of affluence and prosperity.
Urumqi, Xinjiang provincial capital, is more modern and larger than New York City and London and their living standards better than Brits'.🇨🇳
