I am wearing my 2016 Aventus today. I love this fragrance so much I purchased a back up bottle. I have never gotten to smell one of the really smokey batches, but would love to someday.
Every bottle you buy should be the holy grail batch at that price! Really Creed should really get this bactch difference sorted out as you would expect from a niche house oh and sort the longevity out aswell. We should be getting 7 - 8 hours of a consistently quality fragrance, is that to much to ask for from the mighty Creed?

He’s right. The first iteration of Aventus was much smokier & more harsh but not in a bad way in my opinion. It was more layered. It took a minute to wrap my nose around it. My friends didn’t like it when I bought in 2010. I’ve had 4 bottles so far & my most recent bottle is much fruitier. I believe the newer batches are a more palatably smoother blend which garners more compliments & the older batches were more complex but less adored. I don’t know which I like more but the first batch was a super unique fragrance freak of nature. It made you make that, what the f*ck is this kinda face cause nothing smelled anything like it.
I love Creed Aventus also. Not familiar with all the different batches. I bought some a few months ago. Been wearing Creed Silver Mountain Water more lately, as I prefer it slightly to Aventus. Bought a sample pack of Creeds, which I received a few days ago. Wow!!! There are a lot of great Creed fragrances. Love Milliseme Imperial, Royal Oud and Virgin Island Water. Still need to try Spice n Wood. Santal was just ok.
Just seeing this video because I purchased PV Emperor Napoleon and had to find out which Aventus was the smoky vanilla batch. I've done a lot of research into Aventus batches, and though I haven't smelled them all, I'm thinking the Napoleon best suits the '10 batch. I will literally send you a free 5ml sample of my own personal PV Emperor Napoleon bottle only to find out if it's along the lines of '10 Aventus
When the legend was born...after Z01 they fucked it up Dont get why they cant keep doing the same batch instead of refurbishing the scent like others do it for example Dior

No doubt in my mind Creed is paying this guy. Z01 batch of Aventus is NOT the holy grail of fragrances. Lol! Any time a fragrance has batch variations...that is not a good thing.
It's notorious for burning out your nose. It's more than likely just you that can't smell it anymore. Guarantee you others can still smell it 10+ feet away.

I did own an Aventus but unfortunately it did not rang any bell for me. It was so weak I could not believe it.
You probably smelled it too much. The wearer of it will get a numb nose very quickly.. but others can smell it for days.
kez850 It would be the only fragrance that does that, I had a few. No one could smell it also. That fragrance should have not left the factory.
